That purely depends on how much you want to play. If you want to save a few bucks you can play DayZ with ArmA 2: Free and Operation Arrowhead, but you'll be playing with the low res textures from ArmA 2: Free.

DayZ is a mod for Operation Arrowhead, but it uses the map from ArmA 2. You actually need both games to play it, unfortunately. You can get away with using ArmA 2: Free and the paid version of Operation Arrowhead.

It's worth noting that ArmA 2: Free uses lower res textures than the paid version. It's a good way to try out DayZ if you don't want to pay for both ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead to begin with though. :)

This kind of exists already. When your blood drops dangerously low or you take a massive amount of damage you can fall unconscious, during this time other players can heal and resuscitate or rob and kill you. Once you're actually dead, you're dead though.

I was playing on AWA #3 which was first-person only but I checked in the other day and it was completely empty. :( I guess it's back to 3DP for me... -
Yeah, that'll run fine at 1920x1080. :) Compatible? Yes. Good? No.

I'd love to see this. But Altis+ in the same way that Chernarus was altered to make it better fit the setting of DayZ.

I think breaking line of sight will still work fine, whether you can manage that without pulling more aggro is another story though, lol. They seem to be a tiny bit slower to make up for the better pathfinding (not zigzagging). Stealth and not being detected in the first place as well as shooting and actually being killed by zombies occasionally will probably play a bigger part in the standalone. -
Anything higher than 2048 reverts back to 2048 as it's the highest amount that can be used by ArmA 2. If you've added those launch parameters and have your max frames ahead set in your config then I don't think there's much you can do. Seems like it's just a massive CPU bottleneck.

With enough of these walking zombies to actually be a threat on the map even the most beastly PCs would struggle to hit 30 FPS because of the sheer amount of AI, lol. -
Hmm... those graphics settings should be fine really. Have you made any changes to your arma2oa.cfg and are you launching with any startup parameters?

You can have a vanilla whitelisted private hive, you're thinking main hive =/= vanilla. I've played most of the mods and custom maps available, I just didn't like them much. Taviana was alright as a map, not quite up to the standards of Chernarus but playable and 2017 was okay but a ghost town. Why? 95% of the new ideas being implemented in the standalone came from here and Reddit, not mods. You're missing the point. I'm saying that within a game, people will automatically take the easy way out. In CoD/BF they'll use the OP weapons and perks and exploit bugs. In DayZ they flock to easy mode servers. -

I'm definitely for the removal of 3DP. I will continue to use it while playing in servers with it enabled so as to not put myself at a disadvantage though. -
I remember TTP being a concern... I highly doubt they're planning on going ahead with allowing players to write or draw on objects.

I think it's more than likely supposed to be a scratch or bite... And I don't think anyone's ever been hit once at full blood and managed to bleed out, the bleeding generally stops itself after a while, lol. -

Well of course the main hive servers are vanilla, they have to be in order to be allowed to be connected to the hive. Cheaters can obviously be an issue without whitelisting though. I'm not sure why they have an extra firestation or 100% fuel, whatever that is. I don't think you're allowed to make any changes to the mod, map or mission file if you want to host a main hive server... -
Zeds are handled by the server, not the client, in the standalone. Yes, there are some servers without ping limits. You'll have to find them through trial and error though, most won't advertise that they don't have a ping limit.

This would be far too open to abuse. For example, you're in a heli and someone starts shooting at you... Kill your connection and the heli's safe and sound, back where you left it. Also, what would happen to the passengers? Does the heli disappear and they just fall out of the sky, or do they teleport with the magical heli?

I don't think you'd notice a huge difference without upgrading to AM3+ unfortunately.
