I found a box in a hospital to keep replenishing its loot everytime i exit the loot menu. Example: I look into box of medical supplies and see 10 Painkillers, 10 Bandages, 5 Blood Bags, 5 Morphine i think "sweet!" then take what i can/need and exit. Then i remember i might as well put some into my backpack so go back to the box and find its still got 10 Painkillers, 10 Bandages, 5 Blood Bags, 5 Morphine after i took 2 Bandages, 2 Painkillers, 3 Morhine and 2 Blood Bags. I then think "eh...wtf?" then proceed to test it by taking all some more and trying the box again. It kept resupplying itself so i kept taking Painkillers to see if you can overdose and after 20+ i came to the conclusion that you can't. Was it something i was doing? Or a bug? (Note. I didn't take anything more then what would have been in there even though i couldn't fit it all in if i wanted to).

Becoming your typical FPS PvP game?
Grey Warden replied to nzcanucksteven@gmail.com's topic in New Player Discussion
I don't feel that it has BECOME a FPS but it is slowly BECOMING a FPS if any of the threads here to go by (people saying they now KOS anyone cos it happens to them alot etc). Even the group i joined (Regulators) are threatening to make the game a more deathmatch style with Bandits vs Regulators. Its a free choice world and many people feel the game gets boring after you get good gear. I like the game as it plays out as i don't want missions/quests etc. But what i feel needs to be done is simply have servers where you cannot kill other players (PvE only) and then have servers which allow PvP. This will aloow those who want to deathmatch DayZ to still do so, but those who want either a break from looking over their shoulder all the time or more teambased scavenging (on PvE servers the zombies are tougher, run in buildings, more of them etc etc to keep the challenge). If it stays as it is it will devolve into a PvP game. With people either adopting KOS mentalitity or simply leaving as they cannot be asked with it anymore (theres better FPS games out there why should i play this one?). -

You know your playing too much Dayz when...
Grey Warden replied to OutLord's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When you go to sleep and wake up with all the doors to your horse blocked by barbed wire. You break your leg and crawl all the way to the hospital instead of calling an Ambulance. You try and demolish a building with smoke grenades. You try and use tin cans to blow up a car. -
Theres no point in simply making athread to say "thanks i find the x mechanic to be perfect". The saying goes "if it ain't broke don't fix it". People complain about what they feel needs to change for the better. If they see something they like they don't complain about it. Its just people being critical like a film critic who only states the bad things so you know its a good film if they say nothing. To me the annoying thing is all the people who reply and simply state "u mad bro?" or "aww look at the baby crying" etc etc. Simply no help at all.

Does DayZ create situations of scarcity?

What your asking is if it should be a game about survival and not a PvP match? -

When you try and play Hide and Seek by going prone in the middle of a field. -
Any pistol. If facing swarms of Zeds you wont have th ammo to burn through them all unless your a James Bond character with Headshots. If facing a Bandit he is likely far away with a scoped rifle making your pistol as useful as a leaf. Never used the Crowbar except once and it glitched so i couldn't 'reload' it...

Law to Lawless Lands
Grey Warden replied to *Regulator* Oldtribe's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thats Lonewarrior0 a friend of mine IRL. We often play on DayZ working together. My idea of the Regulators Code: Primary: Aid other survivors. Secondary: Strike back at Bandits who kill unarmed players. Miscellaneous: Scout and report significant Bandit Camps to either destroy or steal (I recently cleared out a stash near Electro of medical supplies and ate all the food they had). Its certainly not a solution to the Bandit problem (if i think about it it will make even MORE of a deathmatch). But its all we got as of this moment its getting alittle out of hand. Not so much bringing the Law back into the land but bringing back consequences for your negative actions! The Law will have to wait for the Courts to get back up and running... Edit: For the above post. Killing for fun as you say does not make you a Bandit it makes you a Murderous Bandit (the worst kind in the eyes of the Regulator). Its nice you leave people alone but what if they pick up a weapon (Lee Enfield for example) and then proceed to try and leave the city and stay away from you? Do you shoot him anyways just to be safe he isn't trying to get into a better position or leave him be? The game is not a free for all its a Zombie Survival Mod. The correct way to play is to just survive. I can do this by sitting around a small town with a water pump and a water bottle, an axe, a knife, wood and a box of matches with enough respwaning pigs, chicken etc to last me. The concept of surviving the game is easy. The problem occurs when people get bored and just run off to get the best weapojns and hunt people for fun and thrills. In this case we are ALL playing the game wrong! But some embrace the community better then others. I say your style is not wrong but that depends on if you ever kill for fun alone. If you kill for fun alone then your better playing COD as this game wasn't made for that mind. Do you get what i am saying here? -
Under 9000 health and zombie's "random" super-punch.
Grey Warden replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I used to stealth everywhere now i run into towns and just aggro the Zeds into a building and axe their asses off. Because the gun is so much worse now i only rely on the hatchet for Zed killing making outside combat against multiple opponenst a bad idea. So i always just run for the nearest building now and axe things to death where as before i would kill some from a distance and then try and sneak past the rest. But this isn't a discusiion about the guns nerfness. So back on topic, Jaznap, you may be unto something but really we have alot of clumsy survivors out there then as it happens too often to just lose your balance or a Zed steps on your toe. we are fighting for our very survival against such a scary opponent, will i trip over alot? Yes if i am to be killed but the setting of Dayz sees alot of Zeds that have already turned because of mistakes like that. The survivors we play as i see are the ones that are true survivors that can actually keep their balance, otherwise they would be dead already. The fact is though is that its a game and this mechanic doesn't work (i agree with you about ANY part can be broken i disagree that it will happen this often). The 60% bleed chance (and it actually seems higher then that to me) is lame in the sense of real life (ok punching me could split my lip but will it bleed me to death?) doesn't work. The only chance i have of fixing a bleed is bandaging in a building but this isn't always an option so you run around trying to either kill the last few Zeds or lose them in the woods etc. By now you are on 7-8k blood and tye next Zed that hits you has a good chance to now break your leg...guess what? Your miles away from any hospital! And the respawn button is gone AND theres no zombies around OR no players either that could help...good luck = broken game mechanic. Lose the breaing legs from Zed attacks, being KO'd from too much pain and not chance, Bleed less or bandage faster. -
Under 9000 health and zombie's "random" super-punch.
Grey Warden replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Trouble is not the knock down but the breaking of legs. Tell me how many times does it take to break your leg by punching it with your fist! Or biting it! These are the only weapons available to the Zed but they can break my leg with them? Really?!?!? Breaks the immersion when i hear that CRACK from a single Zed punch at whatever health! Losing conciousness i can agree with but it should be lowered to 6-7k not 9k as its too easyto lose the amount early to get to 9k and its damn hard to restore it unless you find alot of beans, Hunt animals (which needs certain items) or have a transfusion from another player (who are rare and a friendly one is even rarer!). The 60% chance of bleeding is broken it should be 30% max in my opinion. Will this make them too easy? Probably but thats where you make them alot more in numbers too. There should be that 'Horde' feel that Zombie games/films are known for. -
Why cant I make steaks out of other Players?
Grey Warden replied to arx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Cool mechanic for the game but ultimatly it'll make the Bandits lives easier and thats a problem in Dayz as it has not got enough team work mechanics. Instead of cannabilism why not grow crops? If you add in humans for food you should add in growing your own too for balance. -
Do people rather go by themselves than team up?
Grey Warden replied to robotpenguin's topic in New Player Discussion
I prefer to team up with others but someimtes its just better going it alone. Mistakes are yours then and not someone else who gets you killed. The loot is all mine though i share evenly if with others. The trouble is finding people who want to team up for the game and not team up to hunt noobs. So if anyone wants to team up let me know through PM or whatever for some real RPG style gaming, I play mostly on the English Servers or French, German ones. -
Mind of a Bandit = Derp...lets ruin the game derp... Edit: My definition of a Bandit is someone who kills for any reason what.so.ever.

Do you believe in being trusting of other players?
Grey Warden replied to newb (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
I wouldn't as the V3S would then make ME a target for others and i can get around just fine with my own two legs. Its the greed of having something that another does not. Its bragging rights at the end of the day. "i have a bigger gun then you ner ner!" Really? i get on fine with a simple Winchester or just my Hatchet to survive having a SD weapon would be nice but its not essential to my survival. So i think i just disproved your "everyone is greedy" theory. -
I agree its creates tension in the game which is fitting but when its tension made by players who kill for no reason (don't even loot your corpse) it just doesn't make sense and doesn't add to the immersive feel that the mod is good for. I'm all for hard gameplay and brutal sandbox that this game is and the feel of not being able to trust anyone. But if its mindless killing then why not go play COD or Battlefield or whatever shit takes your fancy. The reason why people kill others for fun in a zombie apocalypse sim just doesn't make sense, theres FPS for that! Go play that instead! Now if you killed me because i was a threat or i had gear you wanted i shrug my shoulders and say "fair play" and try again. If i die with no gear and i was even trying to be nice to the person then i rage, assholes.

Do you believe in being trusting of other players?
Grey Warden replied to newb (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
I was inside a Control Tower at an Airfield and heard gunshots nearby. I quickly grabbed a morphine and Hunting Knife that was laying there (nothing else of worth). Then i quickly left and headed into the woods. While inside the tower i used Direct comms (text and mic) to try and tell the people firing nearby that i was friendly. When i left and was in the woods i look back to see 2 players (one in Guille and both with Aks or Sniper couldn't quite see) and they were making their way towards the tower (crouched walking) i was in some 2 minutes ago. So they must have heard me and hunted me down. What i have learnt from this is to not broadcast yourself with stuff like "Friendly, don't shoot!" as it just attacts Bandits (why else did they fire at the tower and not answer my comms?). I proned away and thought to myself 'well declaring friendly is a nice way to get a bullet in your head'. I don't adopt the KOS and i never will. Edit: Do i trust anyone? No, unless they are unarmed and even then i wont let them stick around for long (could be a spotter for some Bandits up the road). The only way i would trust someone is if they go out of their way to heal/help me. Then i consider it good manners to repay the favour. I agree with better comms are needed. -
Wow thats harsh! The guys simply complains about a computer game and you want him to rot in eternal torture? This kind of thing is why i want to stay away from these forums, its not a helpful community just mostly dicks like yourself who hide behind a monitor and username. Now not all are dicks i acknowledge alot are helpful people but the dicks like yourself makes it that much less enjoyable to be part of it. Every thread i see someone like yourself telling others to basically f*** off, i hope your mummy is proud of you...

Zombies way too hard now
Grey Warden replied to A Bush killed me's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Agreed, How many times do i have to punch my own leg to break it do you think? 1-5? 6-10? 11-20? 50+? Now a 50 cal. bullet hitting my leg is a differnt story...it simply wont be broken it'll be gone. -

As long as I didn't hack it in right?
Grey Warden replied to Flex Plexico's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Drop it as others say it WILL get you banned. Its not in the spirit of the game to use something like that so why do you want to? Edit: Probably globally, or from what i've heard anyways.
