PvP and PvE servers (with a twist)
Grey Warden replied to Hutch (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Trouble is its about the loot is it? Everytime i have been killed by players its simply because they could. I had no high end gear or pose any threat as i call friendly. If someone wants my Morphine and they outgun me then they can simply demand it and i will drop it (i know when i am beaten). But they don't they just shoot. Its everyone doesn't know that pushing / in game will open chat or they don't know that caps lock opens up voice chat. Also how do you know someone has good loot? Because of a huge backpack? Or the shiny gun they have? What if i have a medium backpack and only a hatchet or no weapon? What do they hope to find on my corpse? Painkillers? Yeah cos they seriously need those when they could easily get them themselves (very common even outside of Cities). People will avoid the servers with lots of Bandits but do you seriously think the Bandits will simply stay in their own servers? Isn't half the fun hunting the noobs down? Then shooting them is the other half? (i don't know here as to me its not fun at all). If they quit due to high Bandit numbers coming in then thats their choice and they will waste more time not playing the game and searching for servers and loading screens. -

Grey Warden replied to chhopsky's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Same, the only ones that don't are the unarmed ones. Note: I stay away from Airstrips/Cities/Tents in the Wilderness/Crashed Helis so i am not in competing for high end loot or threatening people as i always stay in cover and always call out friendly if i am certain i have been seen. Always salute and lower weapon when seen by other players. Honestly i have no idea what more i can do. Maybe i'm just unlucky to find assholes all the time? -
Unless a real Zombie apocalyse happens you have no proof to back up that claim.
-
I disagree that an 'end game' will stop all the assholes from camp killing noobs. If their attention span is that short then they wont work towards an 'end game'. Or they will get near the 'end game' and delay it because it'll be the end wont it and they'll lose all the high end gear? What does 'end game' mean? The only problem with noob killers is their attention span is smaller than a grain of salt and they will always be around.

PvP and PvE servers (with a twist)
Grey Warden replied to Hutch (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I didn't suggest making it so all Bandits can easily be reconised (who plays with nametags on? (not me). What i suggested was a simple number of how many Bandits are in your current server so if its 12/50 aare Bandits then you know its a 38/50 chance they are a Survivor and can then take a more calculated risk as to whether you want to approach that person or not. As it is i avoid everyone thus making me a lone wolf and thats kinda boring. I know i can post here and put together a team etc or play with RL friends but thats not really the interactions i was going for in this mod. As it stands most treat others as being hostile so they either avoid or shoot. This is making the mod boring. -
Just remove the barbed wire and military wrecks / bodies
Grey Warden replied to GexAlmighty's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Can you remove it with a toolbox as i have seen the option flicker on my screen once or twice and not be able to get it again when i'm near barbed wire. Like the tank traps and sandbags can be removed with a toolbox so why can't barbed wire? Also completly ridiculous that Zeds walk through it! I set some up in one entrance of a barn while swarmed by 20 and defended the other entrance then whack! from behind and i'm down...WTF? At least take damage if they do! Or make so we can prone under it but risk bleeding damage or something. But otherwise +1 to get rid of it, serves no purpose apart from trolling. -
PvP and PvE servers (with a twist)
Grey Warden replied to Hutch (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You make a good point about PvP only servers being only full of Bandits. Losing the immersion of trust and distrust. Maybe then instead of dedicated servers it instead tells you how many Bandits are in game at the start (or when you look at the player list by pressing P ingame). This way you can calculate the chance of meeting Bandits as say 12/50 players are labelled Bandits (not next to their name you only know that there are 12 in the server not who). So if you meet a Survivor theres a 12/50 chance his a Bandit allowing people to trust alittle more easily. People also get to choose if they want to 'count as' a Bandit (sort of declaring your intentions to give a more accurate number) like the Male/Female choice. This can be done by anyone with 2 or more murders as are counted as Bandit for the 12/50 number. Anyone with 5 or more are actually labelled as Bandit on the list so you know they are more dangerous too. At the moment everyone i see i count as a possible Bandit and to avoid. Though if i knew that only 12/50 are Bandits then i could actually take a more calculated risk...or not. -
PvP and PvE servers (with a twist)
Grey Warden replied to Hutch (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It is part of the game but all the OP suggests is to make some servers have no PvP to allow those that don't want it able to play without it. OP is not saying to take it out just saying that people should have the choice to play it that way. Thats why i say we should at least test it as no one is sure if it would actually be a good thing. As to the second part of your post about jerking off well this wouldn't happen as they would just shoot each other in PvP or be shooting hordes of Zeds in PvE (alot more than usual to compensate for the increased teamwork). Also some people would want to sit around with 50 others a jerk off, its the benefit of any game to have FUN. -
'Realism' arguments need to be left out
Grey Warden replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think your own posts qualify for this too. Just saying. PS: I just don't like seeing people be so negative on internet forums for no apparant reason (makes me feel sad :( ) Then why play it? (emphasis on PLAY). -
PvP and PvE servers (with a twist)
Grey Warden replied to Hutch (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The idea is sound to me. For those who like PvE play on dedicated servers. For those who like PvP play on dedicated servers. It'll stop people bitching that "oh i got spawn sniped" or "why did i get shot for having an axe from 200meters away?" etc etc etc. I cannot see the problem at all with this. Want the realism of not trusting anyone? Play PvP servers. Want to be able to trust someone and play purely RPG based? Play PvE servers. What is there to hate? The game wont change for those who like the PvP aspect as there will still be plenty of servers for it. It just gives those who don't want it a chance to get more enjoyment from the game as some of us (believe it or not) want to be able to play the game a different way. Its a game at the end of the day and its an Alpha too so why not test it out at least? -

Done, but is riding on a Bicycle counted as a vehicle? Also why did the survivor cross the road? -
Its strange that my Hatchet disappears into my toolbelt when i take out my Enfield but stays when i pull out my revolver. I would like this as i don't like doing something stupid and destroy my enfield as i forgot to place my hatchet into my belt first or some othe rglithe as i tend to panic mash buttons when being fired at. Maybe something as simple as hotkeys to change equipment you have in your pack?

'Realism' arguments need to be left out
Grey Warden replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why? PS: I hate my little pony but don't hate others for liking it as its their opinion. Edit: “Can you open a can of beans with your bare hands?” Why yes i can as many have that little ring thing on top. But i get what your saying and agree. Here have the beans i just got out of the can. -
This i would love! Maybe throw in settlement building like being able to grow your own crops for food? Anyways this isn't a wishlist.

The only weapon that i have tested is the Makarov and it took some 4-5 shots in the body to kill a Zed (terrible shot for the head mostly :P ). Any rifle from shotgun to Winchester to Enfield to CZ has 1 shot killed a Zed. Revolver my friend says is 1 shot. M1911 is 2-3 for me. AK is 1 shot. So from my own experience the rifle is still powerful but the pistol is bullshit now. Its a good thing i find lots of ammo for my pistol or i'd be dead...oh wait another player...*sigh*...[Grey Warden was killed]...

Please excuse my noobness but what is a 'brony'? -
Good idea for a topic. (though how long do you guess it will be taken off-topic by troll assholes?) What i love about the game: The freedom to do what you want. Theres something so satisfying to be asking yourself "what do i do now?" or asking your companion "where to next?". How many other games do this? Skyrim, Fallout, GTA? but all these still feel like your being lead somewhere with a main quest or any quest. DayZ gives you just one objective, Survive. It would be cool if there were more survival aspects but (its an alpha) moving from town to town in search of supplies as you watch your hunger slowly turn red has a certain appeal to it. Its different, too many games are so linear and predictable. When you meet another player your VERY wary of them due to the nature of PvP and people wanting your gear. One life. Now i play without using tents etc as it makes the life i am playing right now even more valauble and so every situation is weighed against risk+reward as i feel the game is great at doing. Want some medical supplies? You'll have to go into a city and we all know how dangerous they are! (sadly not due to Zeds though :( ).

'Realism' arguments need to be left out
Grey Warden replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If thats enough reason to hate someone then this world has no hope in it then as the next generation will bring upon WW3 for no other reason then, "his a faggot"... <_< Edit: I'm not into all the anime stuff but some of it does look cool and everyone has their own taste. I like basic text colour but someone else likes pink text "to each his own". Why can't the world get along? Look at my avatar, i like Red Dwarf is that enough for you to hate me? -

'Realism' arguments need to be left out
Grey Warden replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
why do people hate monster so much? (curious as i am a noob on the forums myself). @adharma, i think it was you who were mad bro i mean you did type in all caps and that means to me that you were shouting. Also i think monster was being sarcastic in his/her response (correct me if i am wrong here). @tootmaimington, have you met him/her to know he/she if fat? If you are basing the fact that they spend time on an internet forum about a computer game then i hate to break it to you but so do you and me and the next person to post. Are we all fat then? Or gay? Please explain how you know these things as i would love to know how to read people so easily through text on a website alone. 'Realism arguements need to be left out'. If its the arguement of people saying "IRL i would kill everyone anyways" then i agree as i seriously doubt they will and if they stopped and thought for a second then they would realise that themselves. If its the knockdown rate/bleed chance/leg breaking super punch and people saying its 'realistic' to have a Zed break your leg with a punch then i agree as that arguement doesn't make sense. If its about the realism in the game then, well, its a game and an alpha one at that. Nothing in games is realistic (when was the last time you took a dump in DayZ? I think survivors are really in need of laxatives!). Just try to enjoy the game in your own way, like any other game. -
Law to Lawless Lands
Grey Warden replied to *Regulator* Oldtribe's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I used to survive some 1-2 days (if lucky) and at the moment i am on my longest survival (i think 3-4 days). The way i have survived is through staying away from the high loot areas and always being in cover. I have my Matches, nife, Axe and Revolver,, Lee Enfield so far with 3 water bottles, several cooked meat and some morphine that i stole from someones tent near Elektro (after considering the shots i heard to be too dangerous for a pass into the hospital so was a nice surprise, sorry if it was anyones but you seemed well equiped from the sounds i heard and i didn't touch your guns like the MP5 or the CZ scoped rifle). I take what i need and simply stay away from anywhere that would be too obvious to loot. I am not greedy and feel i don't NEED the high end gear of the Airfields. I am a Regulator so people can know to trust me when i type in direct chat to prove my name to them. I get what your saying, you want to challenge yourself and the best way to do that is not target practise some noobs in Cherno but by hunting down similar thinking and similar geared people. All i have to say is "to each his own". As long as you don't kill unarmed people i don't mind. -
You know your playing too much Dayz when...
Grey Warden replied to OutLord's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When you mistake a bush in the distance for a sniper and circle round it for miles. When you have to crouch down to get your phone out of your pocket. When you try to steal something from someones backpack without them knowing (or place). When you salute everyone you meet. -
Becoming your typical FPS PvP game?
Grey Warden replied to nzcanucksteven@gmail.com's topic in New Player Discussion
@Bulletproof, have you watched the Book of Eli? Did you watch the end of The Road? Both of these films were apocalypse types and both show forms of humanity and people working together. Remember the scene in The Road where he shoots a cannibal with his revolver in the woods? Did he do THAT for fun and giggles? Also the ending i am sure you know is not exactly any form of FFA (Beach, Kid, People etc you know?). In the Book of Eli there certainly are horrible people but the majority are working together something i don't see in DayZ unless its some 4-5 people hunting noobs and hoarding all the vehicles for themselves. Take from Games too, You have Fallout without alot of shits like Raiders and the Enclave running around but theres also groups of people working together (Megaton). You also have Left 4 Dead and that IS a zombie FPS but has more teamwork then DayZ does! Do you KOS?
