In your example your character didn't even say that he was armed with a shotgun. In said situation thats about all you would have to say to get someone to shit bricks and do whatever you say. Shooting him first only proves the 'bandit' mentality for the character and IRL the clothes of a person does in fact reflect the personality (chavs wearing sports clothes even in winter, emos wearing black and makeup and gothic stuff would these two think and behave the same way?). At the end of the day its a game mechanic from stopping it becoming a full blown PvP arena. In the perfect world there would be other 'tells' but it isn't a perfect world so there isn't. Just wish to ask everyone to calm down, its a problem with these forums which makes me want to leave them for good and thats the constant bickering. If i was an admin this forum would be ran very differently, as at the moment it just feels very immature(talking whole forum not just this topic).

Mass Effect and Dragon Age don't have moral compasses either but consequences. Did people feel bad when they beat up the TV reporter in ME? What was the incentive not to beat her? Your own personal choice as the game had no drawbacks to your decision. For me i didn't beat her because why the hell would my Shep do that? (military discipline and all eh?). I don't find it being a moral compass but just a way to make it alittle harder and so balancing the game out for all. Anyways most bandits (not all) will ambush or snipe you from afar so it makes little difference what skin you have then. The rest either betray people they have convinced that they are friendly and the KOS ones that just shoot away with the itchy trigger finger. It obnly affects the tactics of the betrayer and even then you could still convince people by saying you got the sin through self defense. Really whats the problem? It provides some more challanges for the Bandit and is that a bad thing?

Thats what Rocket says but why is it called DayZ and not DayI then? Just saying. Also even an infected person isn't exactly sane enough to think up "oh if i zig zag i wont get shot up so much!". I'm not even infected and when i get pissed at someone i charge at them throwing punches (unless they have a gun then i run away but still).

Quietly slip away but watching my back, unless i really need something i generally don't take any sort of risks.

"make them walk straight with his hand up very unsightly..." This. But not walk i still want them to run. Don't care what they do with their hands. I want them to be able to 'grapple' with you! Its too easy to just run past them and not care atm. Something like you have to shake them off or you can't fire. Makes them into a nice tactic in PvP (opponent is grappled and can't shoot for a short period of time, lean out and fire).

I like how it is but maybe something like a 'push' where you can at least get a zombie out of the doorway so 1 entrance buildings aren't a deathtrap early on. I wouldn't mind spawning with a makarov with 1 clip if that decision was made but any more would be too much. Even a Hatchet as its rather effective at taking down players if your good enough with it.

I've asked him his player name and servers he uses and he ignores me. Just shows he doesn't want a fair fight and is just a coward so don't think for a second he will join a server that doesn't allow server hopping!

What are you trying to accomplish with those pics? No seriously i want to know as no one here cares and it must have taken at least some amount of time to do (be it 5 minutes or more). I am still enjoying it but some aspects are becomming very tedious (like travel if you have no car) or waiting around to ambush bandits etc. Or the 90% chance that players will shoot at you on sight (seriously this is NOT a deathmatch people!). The actual game is not boring but i have to admit when playing with my friends and i ask what they want to do and they respond, "lets look for heli crash sites and better gear!" I kinda just sigh silently and go along with it. I prefer to just go with the flow and see what happens if i just wonder around and who i meet (mostly a bullet or two). But challenge yourself! I try to hunt down snipers around Cherno, Stary with nothing but a Hatchet. Or throw tin cans at new spawns and listen as they freak out thinking they are getting shot at. Its a game where your free to do what you want which makes it much longer lasting then say Borderlands which after awhile gets boring when you got some rare weapons. Edit: I'm gonna try being a medic and see where that leads me.

I am in fact a 'newbie' player yes (only been playing for 6 months total). Problem? I mean if people killed me with no gear because they thought i had something worth taking (i might have found some food that you have been unlucky to not find) like any normal bandit. Its when they post up videos of these kills and it just goes to show how little a reason they had for killing you. Also if you wanted to get 100 kills for fun then why not go and get COD or any other FPS deathmatch shooter? THIS is what annoys me the most when you get the children from COD comming over and playing DayZ. How about a better challenge? All that above but with only 1 crossbow bolt? Recover it and fire again. Gotta say this would sound fun if the Zeds didn't act like soldiers flanking you (zig-zagging etc) and the random leg breaking and knock outs at even high blood. Otherwise this will kost likely give me headaches and sore throats from screaming at the monitor! (yes i am a bad shot! tried playing the actual Arma game and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn!)

"If you can't have it, no one can" This is what i say when i find a tent full of gear. I take what i like and then try to ram everything else into a fully packed out backpack thus deleting it all. Then save and walk away. If i can't carry it away then no one should be able to access it! Also i hate tents as it cheapens the perma death to just "oh well i died time to run to my camp". Wish i could have seen that heli on heli action!
