I'd love to see these simple movement fixes added to DayZ

Server Hopping + Loot spawns + Barbed Wire = Broken Game
B00tsy (DayZ) replied to jonaswashe's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Right now the barbwire does not block zombies, they go right through it, tried to barricade buildings several times but they walk just through it once they have lock you. -
Pls no. The one thing I hate most in games is bosses that are not in line with the overall difficulty of the game and other AI. So no uber-targets, more variety in zombie difficulty (movement speed) would be nice though.

Would love to be able to change my view distance when I am in large towns (don't need 1.6km), but I can not change the view distance as it has been statically set by the mod. I also would like to lower the terrain detail (no grass), but I can't do that either. I tried to change it in the profile textfile, but the mod overrides it. That I can't remove the grass I understand though, otherwise players aren't hidden anymore when they prone (thats the reason I assume). Is it possible in the future to enable changeable view distance in towns (or lower it automatically to 500 in large towns)? In the larger towns is where my fps drops the most. Any bit more fps helps :)

Server Hopping + Loot spawns + Barbed Wire = Broken Game
B00tsy (DayZ) replied to jonaswashe's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yay for everything the OP wrote! The thing is, that a lot of people are quite rotten inside (like zombies) and will use every exploit there is in the alpha stage just to gain stats ( I assume the younger croud). If this could be countered in any way then that would be great. I especially agree with the individuality. Atm it pays of to be selfish, ignore the zombies and just kill the players. I personally would like to see the bandits to be the underdogs instead of the uberdogs with a sniper rifle and relog on several servers to get loot. So that you are basically a bandit for the honor, because you are bad ass, not because you snipe everyone off at long range (which is pure lame), but because you are good! -
More reasons to go in-land...
B00tsy (DayZ) replied to SpiritSharD (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The problem of the smaller towns is that it only contains only a few buildings that you can enter (usually the red house). As the loot is always inside buildings the smaller inland towns are not really the trouble to risk your virtual life for. Maybe Rocket can add some more A2 buildings to the smaller towns that you can enter and contains a variety of loot. -
They slow down if they get close to you. Be carefull not to wet your pants though.

Scorped rifles need to go or become ULTRA rare
B00tsy (DayZ) replied to Mutonizer's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Agree with OP. The difference between scope and non scope is huge. It is a piece of cake to scope someone from 200 meters unnoticed. In a game where you have so much to lose (your hard found loot and play time) it's a tat lame to be sniped from several hundred meters (just as lame as dying from a ladder :P). Also as the night is pitch black the advantage of NVG is similar huge. If it is ment to be hardcore (as the majority wants) then those 2 can be ditched, lets keep it to the non-scoped rifles, shotguns and pistols. -
That might help a bit to at least have some feel of direction, but the towns are scattered over the map so it will still be pitch black everywhere in between. It probably also takes up a lot of resources to light up every town on a server.

Death should reset you back 6 hours.
B00tsy (DayZ) replied to BossFi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's his (awesome) mod so thats his prerogative! But, I think we all are suggesting some balancing and providing our ideas, how he balances it is up to him! I think it is possible to keep it hardcore, but also add some fairness to it (thus bandit repercussions) instead of letting it become an Ahole paradise that everyone gets fat up with after a while. If I want to play with Aholes I play EVE. -

B00tsy (DayZ) replied to BossFi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Fine, then at least give bandits some repercussions as it is too attractive to be one. Bandits don't play the coop zombie game, they just play to piss people off and to be an Ahole (generally speaking). -

B00tsy (DayZ) replied to BossFi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
@Marsten, yeah thats true too. But this could be tweaked if bandits would have repercussions. So maybe a good repercussion to only give friendlies the ability to set back time by 6 hours. If you want to be the bad guy in DayZ then you simply wont have that option and if you die you lose everything. The ones that use their weapons and loot for the good gets rewarded by gear reaspawn and the bad boys don't get anything. -

OP has a point I think. I'm not playing for that long, but I already gets a bit on my nerves that looting and getting good weapons is pointless as you will die and lose it all anyway. I am basically looting for 12 hours for bandits not for my gain. Or worse, I am spending 12 hours on staying alive and getting good loot to die on a ladder lol. -
Let's Fix/Replace the Bandit System! - My Witness/Social System Suggestion
B00tsy (DayZ) replied to bobbyweenus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah being a bandit is way to attractive now and there are way to many shooting other players without some repercussions (I don't die by Zeds, but by bandits all the time). My idea would be simple to implement, and that is: Every bandit can not use a backpack anymore, thus can carry only a small amount of loot... thus making it more pointless to hunt for the loot of other players as they can't carry all the loot. Or, They can't use rifles anymore as a repercussion, would be an effective penalty. -
Agree with OP. I tried to boost the brightness and gamma, but it remains pitch black, can't even see my own character. The default ArmA night is way to dark. The alternative is to use a flare so that all bandits in the area know where you are. If you want to die then in the night then pop a flare lol.

Zombies are to intelligent and fast.
B00tsy (DayZ) replied to xenomat's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Maybe we could have an option to 'play dead' 2 times per live. If you have 30 zombies going after you can try to play dead and the zombies will stop engaging you and run past you. That could be an approach to solve the overkill issue and that also fits the gamestyle and scenario. -
Barricade oneself in homes, buildings
B00tsy (DayZ) replied to hellstapochk's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You can step over the wire by holding the 'V'. You could maybe use claymore mines in door openings and stairs, would be fun to have against bandits too. -
Hi, I have been killed a couple of times today in a weird way. First time I was in a house with only one entrance I was pointing my gun at the entrance and didn't see anyone come in, but still someone shot me. Second time I sneaked up to someone who was changing gear and emptied 2 clips in him including a few head shots, the guy didn't die, but I did mysteriously. When I was lying on the ground with the hourglass thingy only then the guy turned around and started shooting (while i was already dead). So is it possible that I am encountering a delay in what I see? For me someone had not turned around and started shooting while he actually was?

B00tsy (DayZ) replied to xenomat's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree partially. In the towns it is pretty cool that the zombie AI behaves a bit over the top. That makes you think twice before you decide you sneak to a house with nice loot. However, When you do need to make a run for it there needs to be a way to get rid of them, when you are running for 5 miles and they are still breathing down your neck then that spoils the immersion a bit and makes it a bit unbelievable. Besides that it sux when you spend a lot of time to get good loot and then get killed because you can't ever outrun the zombies. Overall the zombies are to persistent after they get a lock on you, they should lose interest in you after some time/distance. -
Hi, I have been trying to get in the game, but the few days I played it now I have spend most of the time staring the "waiting for the server response" and when I finally get through I end up in the limbo forrest. Is there any way this can be improved? I spend more time trying to get in then actually playing. It is like hardcore SM now, first they made me get hooked on this great mod and then when I get the hang of what to do I can't get in anymore . Yesterday I gave up after several hours. Today I tried again for over an hour and made it 1 time to the limbo forrest. At least add some unicorns when I am in the limbo forrest! DayZ rocks! Just would like to actually play it :)

Ok found it, thank you.

Hi Rocket, where can I find the rpt? Looked in my profile map (documents) and ArmA_OA map, but don't see it.
