Well I have no problem walking in FC2 with max settings and looking at grass and other dense vegetation from 1 mile away, I am not even gonna try that with ArmA/dayz! And look at your screenshot, how nice all the vegetation looks from a distance, instead of arma where all the details unloads even from a short distance. Also with seeing grass from a long distance with again for example farcry it would not cause such a big hit on performance as with arma, as the LOD stays the same all the time, no constant calculating on the background in what detail level something needs to be rendered. -

I am just stating the problem of how arma renders vegetation, it is what it is. In other games it would be easier to get a whole lot of vegetation rendered over a long distance (like farcry with dense jungles and grass as far as you can see), but that is not possible with arma unless you want to play with 1 fps. And on a side note, I like how the vegetation looks in other games more then the dynamic LOD crap in arma with ugly bushes if you are more then 10 feet away. -

No doubt some will say that it does not fit with the story to get magically extra health, but I like the idea. Might be even more special perks for surviving, like a few extra backpack slots or getting hungry thirsty less quickly (cos you are a veteran survivor). -

I agree, private servers (mods of a mod) are a bad idea. -

The problem is the whole dynamic LOD thing on the vegetation which makes it laggy as hell. If the grass would be fully rendered for everyone in a 1KM radius you need to ask NASA if you can borrow their super computers if you want to play dayz/arma. Dynamic LOD is cool in theory, but I would switch it back for the old way of rendering vegetation any day. Other games don't have it and it still looks great and you have an awesome FPS too. -
It's been like that since day one. I actually think it has improved. In the beginning when you fired a shot with any weapon you had like 30 zeds after you, now just a dozen at most. I still would like to see that the zeds will stop hunting you down when you have enough distance between them, now you can still run across the map with the same zeds after you (in theory). Though there is a difference in firing a markarov or an AK, the louder the weapon the more zeds will hunt you. For mindles zombies they are way to persistent and have athletic endurance (with rotten flesh and everything).

As it is now the only thing relevant or has value is your gear, as long as you get that back it does not really matter if you kill your character. Anyway, I finally saw a goat and cooked the meat. I had 2 bloodbags a few days ago and dumped them cos they are useless when you are solo, still would be nice if you could use them yourself. I don't get why that is not possible, because it is not that hard to put a needle in your arm and hold the bloodbag above your head.

I definitely hope that everyone will be playing the same version and setting on the SA when it is released and not again 10 different sub mods of it.

Yeah tried the six launcher and did not like it (though handy for updating). It needs to close and open arma everytime you switch a server. I have been browsing the arma server list manually for years without problems, but the dayz list is a mess. Don't know, maybe I am whining, but it can be annoying to find a good ping server with the right version and right GTM time and not to many people on it. Also it happens quite often that you are then finally in a server and then get kicked by BE (script restriction 44), while I do not use hacks or anything.

Well I was talking about the public servers, not the private hives. On the servers connected to the hive you will not lose anything. And usually the latest patch means more improvements and fixes.

The current server list is a jungle with different mods/addons and Islands. On top of that there are many servers that are running dayz on an old ArmA version that can not even be played by most players. Is there a way for the Dayz team to make server owners mandatory update them to the latest version and keep them updated? As there is no way to filter out the old server versions. If they are not up to date that they simply will not be displayed in the server list? Will save people a lot of time browsing through the server list. Might be helpful if there were some protocol for server owners/hosts that they have to obey. It will also help to keep a clean server list with only servers that are dedicated enough to keep the servers in good working order. I have the idea that a lot of the servers are runned from a home PC and just setup so that the one that is running the server can have admin rights and customize their character (and their friends) for other servers with the admin tool.
