Plus rocket has already implemented a log of timer, but it didnt work in the mod because of ArmaII issues. Rest assured the standalone will have a log out timer. Relax. -

And that depends on the map design. Obviously there are technical difficulties and gameplay difficulties, but each different course of action has it's own problems and its own solutions. -

The eve tranquility server is in some ways a cheat. Each star system is run on at least one node. And you have to load to get into each one. Hence the OPs idea of islands. Or my (and others) ideas of linked servers. That produces the same effect really. The HIVE and multiple servers is a bit like a distributed version of the EVE server as it stands, the difference being right now Dayz servers only run one map and you can hop whenever you want. -

Well true, this idea was designed to work with Arma II and to eliminate spawn camping. People disappearing right in front of you ? Doesnt sound like Dayz at all does it :P -

I think EVE has some big issues with blob warfare that wouldnt emerge in Dayz, the perma death mechanic, and hopefully larger maps would make it harder to maintain territory like you do in EVE. -
Thanks for the input Super good to hear from someone who has tried it. Lupin, the sniping douchebag issue I believe is a passing phase. Hopefully in Dayz's future there will be different pressures applied to players. Less high end guns and no more duping / infinite ammo will mean less snipers. More dangerous zombies? = less snipers. A bigger map ? Less snipers. Players become more aware = less danger. There are tonnes of solutions that don't involve diluting the whole game. Im pretty sure a real zombie apocalypse wouldnt have a safe mode.

It's a good point cfnz, and right now there are def issues, big issues. A standalone product without duping, with less or even better no hacking, with refinements to the pressures applied to players will hopefully put it back on track. I think alot of the people crying out for servers that dont let people kill each other are a response to the state of the game right now. Not a response to what the game was and hopefully will be again. We are in alpha , a time for testing. The response to these problems is not to take the game and make two versions of it. The response is to keep on going , see the process through to the end, The vision is sound and even now with all the problems the game still delivers more stress, more fear and tension than any other game I've played. In the end , DayZ wont be for everyone that's clear, it's harsh and unforgiving. But that is also precisely its strength, if you dilute that you lose the what makes it special. There are no other games that have had the balls to do this.

Listen to what im saying. actually prefer playing with people and cooperating rather than killing other people but I can also see that the game needs to exist a single entity containing both types of player to preserve what makes it great.

It's my belief that the game needs all types of people playing in the same environment. If they allow PVE servers those players will all go to them and the unsafe servers will only have people who are interested in killing each other. We then lose the dynamic that makes dayz so great. You can't have a social experiment with elements of society missing.

The poll isnt biased, its do you want PVE only content or not. Its not specifically about this thread. I thought it would be interesting to see how people in general feel about Dayz without the danger of PVP. Is THAT so hard to understand. Like I said I enjoy a good debate, but you guys really aren't delivering it. So i thought Id take the subject and widen the audience a bit out of interest , not to prove a point for you. Though I did give you the chance to cast your vote. ps if you use the search button , which the OP obviously didnt before starting this topic AGAIN. You will find lots of people asking for safe zones, so yes people do ask for that.

Barron, I expected nothing but idiocy from you well done lol , im not trying to trick anyone, if anything Id have though you would be pleased to see 30% of people feel like you do then you can start saying "look he has to add PVE servers for 30% more money". CLewis - im sorry you feel the poll is biased , I tried to cover all the bases. What questions would you have added to make it unbiased.

Currenlty Ive seen Urals, buses, cars, Quads , bikes and a helicopter. Oh and tractors I think. We've had landrovers etc previously but not seen one since latest patch. Didnt the system change so some vehicles became rarer though ? -

It's going to be a standalone game not a mod, I doubt there will be modding. Also they have mentioned several times ideally wanting one big server like EVE Onlines tranquility server. That's one server you HAVE to play on to play the game. Maybe you should try living with that ? I like a good debate but not with someone seemingly completely blinkered and uninformed.
