    "It only positively affects care-bears. But not really, it will cause more death on their end. They think now that they can see a "bandit" coming they are safer. Which, in turn, means they can just DC more readily. With realism and immersion aside, that alone should be the reason not to have it. On that note, I will strive to get the lowest humanity possible (assuming that it still carries over from all your past lives - which it doesn't seem too, like they said it would) " Oh dear. Troll alt? Or just stupid ? Most likely both. Im happy to be a labrat And am pretty sure the game is better with identifiers , although realism or authenticity is the ultimate goal a game will always need some artificial indicators because we dont have the restraints or consequences that exist in real life.

    Humanity is back, i'm FKED.

    This post highlights EXACTLY why we have to have some sort of humanity system much as I disliked it originally. It shows how peoples behaviour changed when the bandits skin was removed.

    Why the hell should there be a bounty system ? Most of the time you dont even know who killed you. Where is the organisation that assigns these bounties in a post apocalyptic wasteland ? Where is the communication infra structure to tell people who has a bounty ? How do you identify who has a bounty you cant even tell who someone is without talking to them?

    'new' bandit skin is terribad..

    Its a bit pointless if the ghillie shuit overwrites it as all the dupers / hackers etc who are most likely to be bandits have an endless supply of ghillie suits.

    Zoop sounds like a pretty tedious kind of guy. In other news bagged two bandits tonight, enjoying having the bandit skin back in already.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

    Most graphical glitches solved. Still had some glitches in Cherno though. Loading seems fast. Zombie behaviour much less erratic. Less zigzagging. Zombies still too easy. Losing them is too easy. Running everywhere still the best tactic. Bandit head scarves look good, not a bad compromise. Will see how it goes. What happens with Ghillie suits and head-scarves ?

    Multi Map Dayz - linked servers.

    I for one would like to see bigger maps with more players on. But while I was pondering the technical problems associated with giant servers (ala Eve Online) i had an idea. What if the Dayz world was Much bigger but was broken up into manageable chunks. Servers ran different maps, but they were linked. When you reach the border of one map you get a server browser that presents you with a list of servers hosting the map you are going to that match the timezone and have free slots. Then you cross over onto the new server and continue. Of course there would still be technical difficulties but much more manageable ones than hosting giant maps with everyone playing on the same server. There would also be care needed to not create choke points where people could spawn camp, so there are down sides but imagine being able to have a city as one map, or different islands and a huge country to explore. There's potentially alot of work making the maps obviously but there are allot of Arma II maps out there that could probably be modified reducing the work load.

  13. Found last night that a bunch of us all started getting kicked. Obviously none of us were hacking or using scripts of any kind. Had to restart the game to stop it occurring, but anyone that died started getting kicked again when they tried to re-spawn. Unitl they quit and rejoined. Anyone else getting this ?

Maybe you need to consider there is more to it than that. Im a games developer and the position Rocket is in is a dream come true, the chance to make something you truly believe in and not be hogtied by publishers is the Holy Grail. But if they are totally motivated only by greed as you seem to think: Even the free mod has netted them more sales than most small Studios dream of on a game that was at the end of it's lifecycle They can afford to experiment. Even if the vocal pve minority all rage quit they are still looking at retail sales heading for £10 million ? even on a low price point - on top of what ? £15-20 million already?

    PvP vs PvE

    I'm a stalwart member of the Rocket Defence Force. Why? Because it's so refreshing to see someone doing something different for a change. We are entering a bit of a renaissance in gaming where people are voting with their feet and developers are being freed from the shackles of the big publishers. The recent successes such as minecraft are empowering people and developers. It's a great time. But what I see is people constantly asking for DayZ to have PvE only servers. Safe zones etc. To me these sorts of ideas belong in... other games. DayZ is all about tension, uncertainty , risk and most importantly player interactions - driven by the pressures of the game and tempered by the constant danger of betrayal. These features to me make DayZ and without that constant edge its, well just another game like many other out there. I don't pretend to know Rockets mind but I can read his posts and see what he says his vision is, and personally I believe he is going to stick to that vision no matter what, success or failure. The mod has already made BI a shed tonne of money so his bargaining power to get ownership over the game is strong, as shown by his position of project lead for the standalone. I fervently hope DayZ progresses this way , and I'm pretty sure most of the community are here for the same reasons as me. So lets have a little poll see what people think. TO clarify: PVE means servers or zones where you CANNOT kill other players.

    PvP vs PvE

    Well just shy of 200 votes which is a pretty good turn out at the polls for this forum. 63% dont want PvE only content. A solid majority but only 5% feel strongly enough about it to quit over the issue. 29% Want there to be a PvE option but only 1% feel strongly enough to quit over the issue. Im amused by the 13 people that wasted their time to vote about wasting their time :) Im reassured by the figures. Still interested in the topic though maybe a follow up poll about how people play might be interesting, or how they would like to play ideally.

    Well EVE has the problem of gate campers. But imagine the map we currently use. The whole north and west edges would be transition zones, where are you going to camp ? How often would there be fights right on the edges of the map ? Its hardly more immersion breaking that the current situation where people just lof off hop server and come back behind you is it ?
  21. You have to assume that the game wont let you trap people permanently. But as I mentioned elsewhere I really hope that the game stays as one entity and isnt sharded off into carebear / hardcore. Rocket wants to see the players solve these problems, Id imagine friendly players making their own "safe zones" without server hopping and with enough people you could make an area that is secure and manned through all time zones. Would be epic. Servers full of griefers and servers full of carebears would be terrible, it's the friction and the uncertainty that makes Dayz. Is that guy friendly ?

    SEARCH! As mentioned above Rocket already put generators in saying they would initially be used to power petrol pumps if I remember correctly but they were never finished. And Po1ymorph I'm beginning to think you are a bit dim lol

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

    "Will our characters transfer?" You can't really be preciousabout your character in alpha :) Id imagine at least two complete HIVE wipes before final release.
