    Your sort of missing the point Gorgen. Its the spirit of the game. At the moment it still ends up being much like other online games where you team up with the same guys and do the same stuff. Whereas Dayz is supposed to be about evoking feelings. Fear, frustration, loneliness , desperation. I notice immediately that the game becomes less scary if im on Mumble with my mates and we are bundling around. And ive noticed that noobs we introduce to the game don't experience the same anxiety i did learning the ropes on my own. Having your clan mates online to tell you what to do, where to go, where to avoid etc. Rather than just focus on one of the mechanical issues like, returning loot try and think about the emotions the game evokes. Instead of thinking "fuck that I want to play with my mates" think baout what made Dayz so compelling when you first played it.

    "Let me ask you this though. You are hypothetically banned from playing with friends and you meet a total stranger and group up. You play together for a couple of hours and then you die. What happens then? You should never be able to strengthen the bond you made with that person during that life because all communication ceases?" Well you not banned from playing with your friends :) Imagine wandering through Cherno meeting a guy you know :) "Holy crap its you!". As for the longevity of relationships ? Well life in Chernaraus is short and brutal you cant rely on anything lasting for long ? :)

    That's what discussion is all about. And I agree with you in one way. Playing with your mates is aces. But what if the game was better if you couldn't. I mean your supposed to be a lost and confused survivor. Not a guy with a built in radio in his head talking to the people he knew in a past life so they can come and fetch him in a UAV and give him the loot off his old corpse. There are tonnes of games you can play with your mates as a team. But there are NO games that force you to be on your own in a virtual apocalypse and make new friends in order to survive. People are looking for solutions to reduce the amount of KOS. You have to admit that there is a possibility that a mechanic like this would create new previously unseen gaming interactions, rather than the old, get on a server with your mates and essentially do the same thing with the same people just in a different game environment.

    Characters Synced to time.

    It seems to me that many players just skip from day server to day server to totally avoid playing at night. Which kind of defeats, well half of the game. Personally I don't understand because I think night-time holds some really great advantages, but each to their own. Still I think a remedy is needed. What if you character was synced to a time zone of your choice ONCE per CD key. Then you can only join servers which roughly match your chosen time zone. If you really hate night time that much you can sync yourself with a different time zone so it is daytime for your regular playing hours but you will never be able to avoid it completely.

" I enjoy this game solo but it is infinitely more enjoyable when playing with a few friends and this mechanic seems aimed squarely at team play. " Yeah me too, what i'm saying is that maybe.... just maybe the game would be better if you were untethered from the safety net of your mates and you had to make new allies from the survivors you met in the game. It's food for though anyway.

    "I think people forget that when you die, you spawn with a terrible pistol and there are tons of obstacles between you and whoever you are playing" Well your about to spawn with no pistol LOL plus i can get from the coast back to the North airfield in less than half an hour and loot my own body or get my mates to get my stuff. Or if they drive down then I can be back to exactly where I was in 10 minutes. As if I never died at all. Kophka I like the cool down period to stop people spawn camping on the shore line. As for playing with your mates. I like playing with my mates too , but I wonder is this right for Dayz? As it stand its KOS pretty much , but if you didnt have a group of mates on TS, and you HAD to make new friends every time you died. Maybe the game would be more social. "Also, what is to stop your friend from leaving the current server and following you to the next?" Tents and vehicles ? " Do you even think you and your friend would be playing together a week after this type of idea was implement" No
  7. NO. Flies / crows are a disadvantage . Audio and visual. Bandit skin was better than that. Prefer a gradient. Face more skull like ?

In our group one is a great heli pilot, some of us can manage it, others wont go near the pilot seat. Some of us are sneaky as hell and avoid Z's like pros others keep alerting them and cause all sorts of shinnanigans. Etc etc It almost sounds as if we have different skills. " What you say right now is only half right." You're getting there keep at it.

    Few thoughts about drugs, addictions, and side effects

    Well i'm not sure about the whole morphine thing anyway, last time I checked morphine didn't fix broken legs in real life... With regards to the addiction mechanic. I'm not sure it's a good idea to punish people further for injuries like this. It's already pretty harsh that one Z hit can smash all your bones and a small fall from a ladder can incapacitate you and if you have no morphine you have to crawl for a long way hunting for it. Not to mention bugs like crawling down steps or lagging through walls. Compounding this with your cure also potentially killing or disabling you seems like a bad idea.

    YES Maybe also reduce the spawn rates of high end weaponry and ammo in general.

    DayZ "Class/Profession" System Idea

    The game is full of choices. I play as part of a team and I don't want classes, its nothing to do with being a lone wolf it's just a horrible idea. When we work together we have roles, we help each other using medical supplies. We have guys that go over watch with long range weaponry. Guys that are better at driving , guys that are better at navigating, one guy that's really good at flying helis. Guys with silenced weapons that take out the Z's in our way. And all of that emerges from the existing game mechanics without the need to slap some class structure on us. You think every one is an expert in everything ? lol I've had guys empty whole DMR clips at me and miss. Tried to fly a helicopter without ever trying before and had to be talked through it by our pilot who was stuck elsewhere. Heard guys getting lost cos they cant read a ma. People that cant figure out Russian place names on sign posts. Guys blowing themselves up with grenades.... The list goes on, everyone is most definitely NOT experts in everything.

    SEARCH. Cannibalism has been suggested alot , but also has been vetoed by rocket. He is concerned about the mod being banned in carebear countries so stated cannibalism wont go into the game.

    Rocket has suggested that hed like to go down a similar road to EVE onlines tranquility servers. Which would be pretty incredible , have a look at their current figures http://eve-offline.net/?server=tranquility They are all players in one unsharded world.     Also the heli needs the radar removed, this has been pointed out quite a few times. That alone would balance it considerably. On this subject as a matter of interest can you snipe a pilot through the glass?

Seriously the game applies at least semi believable attributes to the physical act of survival. Cold, hunger, thirst , they aren't arbitrary motivations. People all over the world, all the time have endured incredible hardships on their own and survived with their mental health intact. You can't try and suggest that people will go insane if they don't talk to each other, its patently ridiculous. In a game like Amnesia where it is telling a story and it is portraying the mind of one specific person its an acceptable mechanic. being forced to talk to some of these people is more likely to drive a normal person insane !

    My Good Suggestions List and discussion.

    I'm not so much for the zombie animals, I kind of like the fact that animals are unaffected, so you can hunt them for food. Id like to see more ecosystem for the animals. Zombies eating them, and animals running from you. As well as some dangerous animals that will attack you. I did read somewhere that Rocket was talking about adding dog companions for players. Not sure about that myself..... (And thanks Eagle)

    Traditional motion capture works like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMSnEVhdFas The guy in the black suit has white markers attached to him at key points that the computer tracks the position of then stores this as an animation. But the kinect and simialr tech now allows it without all that gubbins. like this On the left is what the kinect sees and on the right its applied to an in game model.

    As rocket also said he though the suggestions forum was useless we could def be on a hiding to nothing :) One of the things I like about Dayz is that he will do what he wants and I think I trust his decisions. Still its fun to thrash these things out.
