    "is it not possible to increase FOV for the first person perspective? This is the only reason I use third person when I do, I prefer I higher FOV " I believe it is I know plus and minus keys on the num pad do it, and I saw a 4chan guide that explained it. Try searching the discussion forum for "4chan guide".

    a: if you spoke on a radio people should be able to hear you over direct chat, because you are talking out loud they just wouldn't hear the other side of the conversation , assuming you had an ear piece or something . b: Its also nothing like a radio because a group of you can be standing together shouting away at each other and no one can hear you. c: there are ways , some of which have been discussed.

    The problem is Direct chat puts you at a disadvantage against those using TS. So if you get most people to use Direct chat somehow those that bypass that to use third party voice comms have a big advantage. Making it more of an exploit.

    Me and a couple of mates are about to embark on an attempt to play the game just using direct chat. We will only use mumble to initially tell each other where we are and arrange a meeting point.

    You know what I agree. Today I spawned ran to elector and a wall nearly killed me. no morphine, broken legs 3k blood. I thought about respawning and said "no!" . Crawled into town calling for help , passing out occasionally, and a guy came and gave me a transufiosn then went back to the hosptial and got me a morphine. legend. Back on track. He then also killed a guy that tried to kill me. A good little adventure and feel good moments that wouldnt have happened if i had given up.
  12. Lots of people point out that making the game harder to survive will reduce the amount of PKing. Reducing ammo is def part of this. If your struggling to survive there is no need to waste your ammo on a noob that has nothing, its a flat out waste. If you have (as you do now ) infinite ammo, you can kill who you want for fun. If the zombies are more of a threat shooting at someone becomes higher risk as well. Then you have to use your precious ammo defending yourself. Although this has all been suggested many times, Ive added this thread to my list ( below in my sig) as its a current active thread that fits in with my overall vision.

    Its a shame people just refuse to embrace the possibilities Dayz has to offer because they are stuck with their gaming preconceptions. Screw you man Ill play it how I want! And in the rpocess they miss out on half the stuff that makes , or could make the game so great. I made a big post about it a while back http://dayzmod.com/f...f-text-warning/ There was one encounter that really crystallised my view on direct chat: Me and my mate were walking through the woods heading for a deerstand, we were on mumble as usual. Suddenly we hear voices. We hit the deck and (amusingly whispering to each other) are going "shit man theres a group of guys ahead of us just over that hill!" we crawl forward , even though we cant see them we can locate them by their voices. But not only that we can hear what they are a planning. One says "ill go up the hill and cover you" and we are crapping ourselves cos that means he's coming our way. We can hear them contemplating shooting two guys in the distance , and for a moment we think its us, but realise its someone in the distance. We stalk them for 15 minutes to another deer-stand until we finally get eyes on them and engage. After that they switch to 3rd party voice again and we have an amazing gunfight that lasts about 30 minutes. But the first part, the stalking and evesdropping was hands down one of the most tense and immersive gaming experiences Ive ever had. And this will NEVER happen as it stands, because of third party comms. It was only afterwards that i realised we had such a huge advantage over them because they couldn't hear us and I felt bad. It would have been ever better if we had had to whisper to avoid being heard, or fall back to make plans then approach them again. So here we have one of the best mechanics Ive ever seen in a game and no one will ever use it. Why would you expose yourself to the risk when you don't have to. It's a real shame.
  14. Less ammo and fixing the infinite ammo bug is essential. It doesnt matter if you save your ammo to shoot players. If you have less ammo you will have to expose yourself more often to the dangers of the game. Actually play it. Lets take an example. Mr Noob sniper. He sits on the hill overlooking Cherno with his 50 cal. And snipes noobs. Then he server hops and oh look his ammo is full again. Rinse and repeat. In a world with less ammo and no ammo regeneration bug. He has lets say 20 shots then he is no longer a sniping douche, hes a guy that has to go and expose himself to hunt for more ammo. he also has to pick his shots more carefully. It's a massive change to the game and we really need it. It's fine to come in here saying oh man you give me less ammo Ill save it all up for players. Well thats fine, but unitl we test it and actually see what happens we wont know despite what the blowhards say.

    Best way to stop it spazzing out is to stop all axis except y and x. All the other stuff screws it up for dayz. I also use the deadzone setting so small movements don't move the camera. Its pretty awesome though.

    Balance issues here. Also I don't think tin cans can be used to repair vehicles ;) Generally I like crafting, the game has already started down that road. I believe Rocket has already stated molotovs were planned as well.

    L85 needs to be changed

    The reason the advanced tech needs to go is because of gameplay. Dayz has some great game-play mechanics. The risk / reward of nigh-time play . Flares / chemlights and torches is a great dynamic. But nighttime play is much less popular as it stands because you have guys running around with DMR / NVG . L-85 picking off people who are effectively helpless. This just isn't fun for the victims. No one wants to be on the receiving end of that. This means what is in many ways the best part of the game is dying away. The same applies to direct chat vs teamspeak. Everyone uses TS and misses out on one of the best gameplay experiences I've ever had.

    There's been a few posts suggesting this and I think its a great idea. Direct chat is a fantastic feature of the game and has created some of the best gameplay experiences I've ever had. the problem you will encounter with this debate is people who just refuse to see the possibilities of this. They will says "fuck you you can't stop me " "I will use a second pc" "I have tonnes of free minutes ill just phone my mate" Etc etc. It is probably possible to stop people using third party software like teamspeak, but then people complain it's an invasion of privacy. My solution was this: People use direct chat as normal. You let people use third party software like teamspeak but if they are talking the ingame direct chat system broadcasts a generic "talking noise" a sort of indecipherable speech sound effct. So although you cant understand what they are saying you can triangulate their position / zombies are attracted to their voice. While they still have the advantage of being "telepathic" they have the disadvantage everyone else has of giving their position away by talking. It also means you dont have to listen to the type of crap these players spout or hear their mums telling them it's dinner time.

    I would remove all thermal, NVG equipment from the game. The dark / light mechanics are much more entertaining from a game play perspective.
