"what is the point for making tents and putting gear inside if want the tent to be deleted right after you die isnt the reason why you put crap in a tent is so that when you die (because everyone eventually dies) you at least can go back to go get something instead of starting with nothing. " Tents are only supposed to last a day or two after you die. Currently they last forever which as far as im aware was never intended.

    Oh and not to mention the proliferation of barbed wire etc, The point is as I explained obviously? "Obviously hacking and duping will continue until fix but at least it will take a while for it to build back up to the ridiculous situation we have now."
  3. Few of them need to allow multiple answers maybe. I dont like bugs, it being to easy to survive and think tents need fixing all about the same level . Also with regards to killing players when i first spawn i always try and help as many people as I can ( and often die as a result) once I make it through this phase and get up north I become KOS just to ensure i survive.

    Mr Null. BI are supporting Dayz development by adding features and code functions that Rocket needs for Dayz. These are contained in Beta patches. Instead of complaining you should be pleased that BI are adding features to ARMA II specifically for us and helping to fix some of the problems that Dayz has.

This would be the case, I believe, because best practice (I assume) would be to give each item a generic item code (which I'm sure the game all ready does) then give it a unique item code, like a serial number. That unique item code would then be bound to your account in the central server. " Well I also don't know but I can take a stab at a reply As far as Im aware HIVE is seperate to ARMA II. So the item creation / ID code should be under Rockets control. Also hes mentioned issues with ID no's over a million , so i have to assume items already have IDs. When you log on or a tent is instanced it already has to look up the items it has saved and instance them. So adding one check to catch duplicate IDs and not instance them or delete doesnt sound like a huge stretch. Yes it IS another operation but not a system breaking one I wouldnt have thought. Id be interested in why Rocket says it's not possible in the MOD and requires sources access to Arma II.

And if it can be fixed we should get a server wipe anyway. I'm intrigued that rocket says it cant be fixed in the Mod as well as I assume the items are stored on the HIVE server I would have though duplicate ID's would be easy to spot and delete.

    Its not the end of infinite ammo unfortunately as there are tonnes of tents that endlessly duplicate all kinds of goodies.

    Zombies spawning to close to players currently. I've had several pop in right in front of me or even better right behind me.

    Patch seems really good so far. But it seems now that trees allow you to hide from zombies, making it VERY easy to avoid them. Although i like the line of sight mechanic we still have the problem where being stealthy is now actually a disadvantage. Your much more likely to survive if you just run full pelt and lose them. Currently they are either at full agro and chasing you or just stopped and idle. So you run from a ravening horde of zombies, dive round a tree and look back and they are just milling around like nothing happened. To easy and doesn't feel right to me.

    When Funerals go wrong.

    Ok so I found a problem with TrackIR, My head was turned and I thought my gun was lowered, so i press the mouse button to bring up my Barret.... unfortunately its already raised and pointed right at my mate. There is a huge *BOOM* and his bleeding corpse slumps into view. We decide to have a funeral for him, which is when things really start to go wrong... In one night we managed a pretty spectacular 5 team kills. We picked up a bunch of us again in the car , several of them died in a car crash as well.
  17. The problem is with Dayz's current mechanics we never get the effects of the Iterated Dilemma only the standalone dilemma which as you rightly point out leaves Betrayal as the best choice. So Dayz will never evolve past this. Why ? Because you don't know who killed you (usually). It doesn't matter if you can or cant switch identity because you'll never know who shot you, and even if you did they can just swap servers and you will never see them again. You would only start to see the behaviour change if players were locked to one server and could identify each other. This is why , although people hated the bandit skins or other ideas to identify killers the game may need some artificial indication to simulate this effect otherwise we will never see different behaviour evolve. You will see people TRY and break out of this pattern, by forming a group of "good guys" for instance by meta gaming. But the anonymity of griefing in the game and lack of repercussions means they will always be destroyed by outsiders who can use the games mechanics against them and suffer no "punishment" such as losing trust.

    Third person vs First person view

    "getting rid of third person would most likely cut down on the number of players that play this game. I for one like to play in third person and would not enjoy the game as much if it restricted my playstyle. " It's possible but then people would say that about a game if you suggested it had Perma Death as a mechanic yet somehow it works. It is sometimes annoying not having third person but it makes the game more immersive, after a short period where you miss it you end up enjoying it. There are arguments like this all over the forum where a bunch of people jump up and say "fu man Ill play it how I want" and they really miss the point of the game I think. Dayz shines the more unsure, the more nervous and the more scared you are. You should be trying to immerse yourself in the experience not clinging to your old gaming preconceptions. Third person is a total comfort blanket, and it might be frustrating playing without it for a bit but that's only because suddenly you cant magically see over walls without exposing yourself and when your crawling through the grass the grass also obscures your view, just like it would in real life. People complain that its " their choice" but the problem with people is they nearly always take the easy option. Third person, Alt-F4 , server hopping, these things are all in the game and ALOT of people use them to exploit - because they can.
