  1. I feel like it's not a problem with DayZ, but a problem with the ArmA 2 engine.

To answer your question - I only carry a maximum of six clip for my pistol at one given point (2 bandages fill the rest of my secondary inventory.) Because pistol ammo (especially .45 rounds) are so relatively common, I find that, unless I decide to massacre an entire town of zombies, I never have a problem running out of ammunition for my revolver. As for the inefficiency of .45 pistols...At this point, I honestly think it's your personal choice. For example, I personally LOVE the iron sights of the revolver, and I've always had a small fetish for six-shooters, so I prefer it over the M1911 (although I really like that pistol as well,) Makarov, and so on. Technically speaking, either the G17 or the M9 will be your best bet if you're looking to conserve ammunition (if I remember correctly, the two weapons share magazines, just like the revolver and M1911) but ammunition for either of those guns is rarer than .45 clips/magazines. Basically what I'm saying is, all of the pistols suck at this point, so you might as well pick the one that you prefer the most.
  3. Please explain how a private database ruins the point of the game.
  4. I play primarily on a non-hive server, simply because I needed a little bit more experience with the mod before venturing into hive servers - similarly to your scenario. However, now that I've played for a few weeks on this non-hive server, I really don't have a lot of motivation to leave. The thing that hive servers lack is a sense of community. Since there's only a handful of servers that share the private database, you become quickly acquainted with who's a bandit, who's a friendly, and who is part of which group. We've had multiple small wars between campsites thus far, and I can confidently say that I'm having the time of my life. If I had decided to stick with hive servers, I may just have quit the game after a few days of fruitlessly trying to become acquainted with the mod. Fortunately, I discovered the non-hive servers.
  5. The beautiful thing about this game is that, at heart, it's a survival sandbox. I don't farm or item cycle for loot. I sort of go where the road takes me. If the road takes me to Stary Sobor, then I'll make sure that no snipers are watching me, then go check out the camps. If the road takes me to Kabanino, then I'll check out the Northwest Airfield and see if there's somebody cycling it. If there is, then I get some nice loot. If I don't, then I check out the barracks and...hopefully get some nice loot. But if the road from Stary Sobor takes me southwest, towards Zelenogorsk, then I don't question it. Call me a wanderer, call me aimless, but I'm having fun. Video games these days are focused too much on loot. Everybody is so concerned about their items and their gear, as if the fact that they have more or better gear than the person watching them through a scope will make the bullet bounce off their head. This game is about survival, not about getting an AS50 and shooting freshly-spawned players on the coast with it. But, to each their own; if that's what's fun to you, then by all means, do it.
  6. It's certainly a viable way to play the game, however boring it may be.

I wanna go to Green Mountain

Please don't go back. You should know better. Look, man, things HAPPEN at Green Mountain. Things that we were never supposed to know about.
  8. Nalestom

    Fake or idiots or both?

Bosco, I want examples of video games that have been banned for this kind of player interaction. No politician is going to waste his time with this crap, they're too busy being lobbied by oil companies. (The sad thing is, I think he's serious.)
  9. Because there's no incentive for survivors to be friendly with each other, you literally can't trust anybody anymore. If you've got a gun, you're a threat. If you don't have a gun, you're just another tally on the "Murders" counter.

    Last 3 people i killed.....

Just so you know, Rocket has confirmed that Alt+F4ing is an exploit of sorts and that he's planning to create a system to circumvent Alt+F4ers. So, actually, this issue is very high on his priority list. The only reason he didn't implement it in this last patch is because of engine issues. You assume too much. You assume that Lucasnino fights alone. You assume that he's not part of a larger group. You assume that he doesn't have a base of his own. You assume that trade shops are actually a good, viable idea in this mod. Just because he enjoys reaping the rewards of his kill, doesn't mean that he's a "scrub," as you say. I think you're the scrub for thinking that he doesn't deserve your loot.
  11. Except you appear to be rude just about all the time to just about everybody, so there's no point in approaching you respectfully. ♪♫First impressions!♪♫

    Last 3 people i killed.....

Guys, the simple fact of the matter is that there's no reason to Alt+F4 when you're being shot at. It doesn't matter if you've got an AS50, NVG, and a ghillie suit, or if you have a crowbar and a bandage. Accept your fate and move along. Most of the time, the reason you're being shot at is because you weren't careful enough.

    Last 3 people i killed.....

As if whether or not he was killing them for loot matters. I know you addressed your viewpoint in your other thread, but the general consensus among the community is that Alt-F4ing when you're being shot is the dirtiest and most looked-down-upon thing you can do, next to blatant hacking. You don't know the story, either. Perhaps he was being shot at first? Even if Lunasnino was the one who fired first, that doesn't make it acceptable for his victim to Alt+F4.
  14. Nalestom

    G36 with silencer?

All G36cs and ammunition to accompany it that you find is hacked in. I don't recommend using it at all - in fact, I recommend destroying it, so nobody suspects you for a hacker.
  15. Nalestom

    Was this a hacker?

I think it's safe to say that you've got a hacker on your hands. I have a friend who had a Battleye bypass, and he showed me a few of the scripts that were at his disposal...These hackers can do some pretty crazy shit if they want to.

    Removing the respawn button sucks.

No, because that problem could have been easily remedied by simply moving the button so that important buttons (namely the Options button!) weren't near it.
  17. Nalestom

    Removing the respawn button sucks.

If the server is relatively busy (more than 10 people online at once) then there's a very high chance that there will be somebody else in either Cherno or Elektro. Hell, sometimes when there's only three or four people on, you're tempting fate by deciding to visit either city. Because of that, I've learned very quickly that, if I want to actually survive to see the sun set, spawning near a major city is a terrible idea. Personally, I find that spawning in either Kamenka or Komarovo (or sometimes Balota, if you're lucky and there's nobody visiting the airfield) will give you the highest chance of survival. There's tons of medium and high-value buildings along the road north (including barns and residential buildings - that means Lee Enfields, Winchesters, shotguns, and pistols!) and plenty of supermarkets to fill your toolbelt, belly, and upgrade your backpack. Sure, it might take you an hour or two longer to get as equipped as you would if you visited Cherno or Elektro - but you have a much higher chance of actually finding all of that gear, plus a much higher chance of survival as well as less competition for the gear you find! I honestly don't understand why so many people want to go to Elektro right off the bat. There's nothing there but danger. I only go there to satiate my thirst for blood and murder, I don't actually go there for supplies.
  18. Nalestom

    Removing the respawn button sucks.

Impossible. Unless it's glitched, players with fractured bones are able to respawn. That's the only condition where the mod will allow you to manually respawn.
  19. Nalestom

ALT F4 is not the problem...

They're not ignoring it because it's difficult. They're ignoring it because they've done the best they can, and the reason they can't do better is because the engine physically will not let them. Hackers, Alt+F4ers, ghosters, duplicators...you're all alike. You're all in the same pool, you're all the same archetype. There's no such thing as a benevolent exploiter, because that's an oxymoron.
  20. Nalestom

    Removing the respawn button sucks.

Rocket has stated that he's working on a way for players to be able to choose where they want to spawn (to an extent - you're not going to spawn in the same exact spot every single time.) For example, if I want to spawn at Otmel, and I die, and I choose to spawn at Otmel again, I'm not going to spawn in the exact same spot. It'll be a few hundred meters away (or maybe a couple dozen? Who knows. It's random.)
  21. Nalestom

ALT F4 is not the problem...

Rocket has stated before that the glitchy zombies, AI pathing, and physics are all due to limitations of the engine, NOT the ignorance of the DayZ coding team. He's also stated that a number of the issues with zombies and physics will be fixed when the standalone version of the game is released. Exploitations are exploitations. By definition, they are major flaws in the code that need to be fixed. By your logic, glitchy and easy-to-kill zombies are the reason why we had a huge influx of hackers recently, and that's simply not true. You can not honestly point at the multiple servers who were nuked, the hundreds of people who were teleported and slaughtered for the entertainment of hackers, and the ridiculous item imbalance on certain server, and claim that all of that is because zombies aren't challenging enough. Fixing the glitches WILL get rid of the majority of the hackers and duplicators. Fiddling with the zombie AI and with the physics of the engine will not.
  22. I haven't turned mine up at all, they're both at 1 (their default value) and I'm still able to navigate perfectly fine using the illumination from the moon. The week of the New Moon phase is always going to be tough, but the rest of the month is usually fine. Even combat is relatively easy, as muzzle flashes reveal enemy positions easily enough.

    1st Person vs. 3rd Person

I use first person almost exclusively unless I'm driving a vehicle (or landing a helicopter at night - it's extremely difficult to do that safely without using third-person.) I don't see third-person as an exploit, personally. But perhaps that's because many months of playing APB have made me more aware of its benefits, as well as how to expect and counter it.
  24. It's exploitative in nature, but disabling it would be a very bad idea. What if your monitor is naturally darker than another person's?
  25. Nalestom

    Why do regular/recruit servers exist?

Well, then I guess you'll either learn not to enter churches, or pray that the other player is bad. (Ha, get it!? Because it's a church? Praying? Ah, never mind.) Exploit or not, it's there. It's present in the mod. People use it all the time, unless you stay completely away from Regular servers. If you don't want to deal with the bullshit, then get off Regular servers. Personally, I'll choose to adapt to the situation and avoid entering a city until I'm completely sure that all rooftops are clear. I discourage players from following the "let's camp on top of a tall building" playstyle by killing them on top of tall buildings from a distance. I don't see how it's unrelated at all. Complain all you want about the fact that Regular server players can use third-person, but your complaint won't make it all change with a snap of a finger. Evolving and adapting around it is the best temporary solution. Complain about it in between game sessions if you wish. You know, I'm only one guy. I play on Regular and Veteran servers alike, and I do my best to avoid using the crutches that the Regular servers provide. I won't deny that they're crutches and carry certain players through the game, and I won't claim to be omnipotent and believe that everything I say is 100% right. Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe they're truly exploits when it comes to DayZ. But I prefer to take the passive-aggressive approach to cheap tactics such as abusing third-person. And that approach is adapting to players who decide that they want to follow that playstyle and killing them. It's basic strategy. Analyze your opponent's strategy, and fabricate one that destroys it. That's my approach. So far, it's working for me. This is my fourth day of survival, and I bought the game a week ago.
