RPG to take down a helicopter? Maybe if it was landed and not moving, otherwise, you've been watching too many movies and playing too many games. :P The American's had a presence, so I don't see why their weapons shouldn't. I'd rather the RPG be added in addition to the m134, then they could each have unique characteristics/attributes. (RPG is reloadable, m134 is disposable, etc)

The new inventory system that the UI artist has allows for hotkeying, solving the problem of super slow weapon swapping.

I seriously doubt the OP meant literally holding the empty container up in the rain. If you had some kind of a capture device (waterproof blanket of some kind, large leaves, etc) you could set it up to capture a lot of rain and could fill a waterbottle type thing in 15-30 minutes in medium rain, and probably just a few minutes if heavy rain. I think you should have to find a different object. Find a waterbottle? Cool. Find a "Water capture device" of some sort, awesome, now when it rains you can capture water. Maybe you have to set it up and leave it somewhere. But I seriously think this should be added in some capacity.

1.7.3 PATCH DEBUG MONITOR TAKEN OUT-SOLUTION
Yatagan replied to Gopher (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
My only worry with no more debug is blood. The 'color of the droplet' is a godaweful way of measuring that. I think in addition to changing color, it should lower/fill based on your health. At 50%? The droplet is half full with mid-red blood. Alive and good? The droplet is full of green. Etc. -
I agree that a melee slot is needed. Too many times I've had to throw my rifle on the ground to pull out my hatchet, instead of just slinging it on my shoulder like I should be able to.

2 player profiles/characters same cd key
Yatagan replied to PigMonkey's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There are plenty of ways to prevent multi-character ghosting, and I think multiple character would be really good. It would benefit 90% of players, while (If safeguards are made) hurting nobody. -
Duping/hackers aren't the only reason to do a clean up. This is in Alpha, it's good practice to wipe everything so you can get clean fresh results while developing a game. I'm really surprised that Rocket hasn't done a wipe yet... Honestly I think he should do them Monthly. (or something)
-
Is this for serious? Wanting to suggest something or report a bug: Fine. Mad at game for being buggy in early Alpha stages: Wat.

"Rocket" Please We need a Database wipe
Yatagan replied to Tain (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The only real argument I see against this is "The hackers will keep hacking and dupers will simply redupe." That may be so, but it's good practice to wipe during alpha's and beta's. Who knows what other issues that's causing. Every single alpha/beta I've been part of wipes on a regular basis, the fact it's been two months (For me personally) and no wipe, is incredibly surprising. I think a wipe is needed to clean things and reset stuff. If you don't want to loose all your progress then wait until the game goes standalone. (At which point a wipe during that would be unacceptable, unless extreme circumstances went into play) -
Inventory UI concept design v2.1 (window based)
Yatagan replied to joeyslucky22's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
For closing the backpack, also save it's open/closed state when the inventory is closed. If I hit G and close my inventory, with the backpack open, the next time I hit G the backpack should remain open. That would allow me too always have the backpack open and in view (Whenever the inventory is open) if I want too. :) -
Rocket has stated that this will be added within the next few updates. (So possibly still months away?)

Inventory UI concept design v2.1 (window based)
Yatagan replied to joeyslucky22's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There you go, brilliant! That fixes the issue without forcing it into another place.May I simply request one additional feature? (Which may or may not already exist) When you move the backback, then close it, please have the game remember it's last position. If I move it to the top left part of my screen then close it, please have it reopen in the top left of my screen. Otherwise every time I open it I'll have to move it to wherever again. :) -
Humanity carries over? Well fuck me. The first day that 2.5 was out I already spawned with -19000, despite having not killed someone for a very long time, and those people being a group of bandits that attacked us... I figured 'oh I'm already a bandit might as well act like one' so I hunted people until I died. Figuring it would restart. I guess I dug myself in deeper. Fuck.

Anyone know how to host a server that isn't on the hive at all? Me and my friend just wanna play without the constant barrade of hackers, and bandits fueled by hackers. :( [Off-topic by a large margin.]

Board and plank non-enterable building models
Yatagan replied to libertine's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd actually rather when the game goes standalone that they just make 100% of building enterable. I was incredibly annoyed at first that I'd sneak up to a house only to find that I couldn't go inside. Now I know which ones you can and can't, but if eventually they all had interiors that would be ideal. -
Wow, I meant ungodly rare I just super dylexia'd or something. :P And I don't think removing something is a solution for hackers. I've joined servers before that have a load of them as well, but removing them altogether isn't a good solution. Updating the counterhacking software, which will hopefully occur when the game goes standalone.
-
You do understand that the game not being in standalone is what's stopping them from fixing these issues right? That's like saying, don't fix the broken engine block in your car until you drive to the store and buy me milk. If the engine doesn't work the person can't do that...
-
I think it should stay in, it should just be ungodly rare. Like, 1/10000 people have one. 0.01% spawnrate or something. The ammo, a bit more common but still incredibly rare. I don't think it should get entirely removed though.
-
It's actually not. Human nature is primarily to survive as an individual, true, but above that to survive as a race. It's why we get people that do heroic things such as charging in to die so that others may live. (Or why you may give your live to save family and friends, etc) People shooting everyone on sight is purely for personal gain with no penalty as you aren't actually murdering a real person as you would be in real life.
-
What if you lose internet, or your game crashes? Then you're fucked. That's what. :( The key is not killing your character instantly, it's making your character sit there regardless. If you click quit (and it should be more like 15 seconds, not 60) or ALT f4 or your game crashes or something, you sit there for 15 seconds then disappear. It means if someone is actively shooting at you, it's actually more dangerous to quit than it is to run for cover or try to get away.

I personally want servers to not lie about their time, no matter that time. I'm getting annoyed as hell for looking up 'daytime' servers in DayZCommander only to repeatedly join ones that are the middle of the night, when it was 2:04pm. If they lie about that they need to be taken down. Or have it hardcoded. (Standalone?)

100'000 humanity, i want my Jesus skin!
Yatagan replied to SoulShaper2's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
How'd you get +100,000? The game spawns me with -25,000... -
Yeah I'm on the 'its a flashy movie thing' boat. I've tried sliding down metal ladders in real life, not a good idea. It's certainly possible, but believe it or not you have to be trained to do so. In this game everyone is the average Joe, so I don't think it should be added. If spawn personalities were added (civilian, ex military, cop, etc) then maybe the firemen or military would get it as an extra ability, but otherwise no. I however would like the ladder system to be less chunky overall. It takes 10 minutes to get on and off the dang ladder, which any untrained fool could do very quickly. :P

I think current dayZ users should maybe get a discount(or at least something in game)
Yatagan replied to Jeff the killer's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
He has said it will be a minecraft market model. Meaning early Alpha builds of the standalone will be dirt cheap for any who show up early, then upon full release the game will cost more. Which I think is a fair compromise and I'm okay with it. -
I have something that I think needs to be done immediately, by the developement team, and that is making a few facts about DayZ known and VERY obvious and in your face before you buy Arma II and get Dayz. These are things that I myself didn't figure out until I spent quite a bit of time on the forums, and they're really 'falsely advertised' because nowhere are they made clear or stated in an easy to find manner for all newcomers. The two things are: The fact that Dayz is in Alpha, incredibly buggy, broke, and changed constantly. Along with the fact that when it goes standalone we will need to pay again. Let me elaborate. Alpha: The only warning we get about the game being in alpha when going to download it the first time, is the little tag on the download button that says 'Alpha Version'. It's in a weird black font, doesn't draw the eye, and isn't clear. Well, so? What does that mean? Alpha can mean dramatically different things for mods, retail games, and other developement cycles. It needs to be made very clear on the front page that this mod is in Alpha. It's being worked on. It has very few unique features, and what has been added is buggy, and altered constantly. It's not a stable completed mod in any way, and you are going to face a lot of developement related issues. Payment: Also NOWHERE does it say that the mod is soon going standalone, and that that will require a new purchase entirely. I think this is the biggest negative of the entire thing. It needs to VERY clearly say this somewhere. I believe if these two things are made clear it will benefit us (the players that are testing), Rocket and the Dev team, and the potential customers (because frankly they are just BI customers that will potentially make a purchase they believe will give them certain rights) alike. It will turn down a portion of people who would naysay at the fact that they game is buggy. It will turn down a portion of people who will complain about having to make another purchase. It will turn down a portion of people who want a completed game with a full experience. What does that mean? Well it's not all bad. It will free up a lot of space on the forums (and ingame) for serious people who know what they're dealing with. It will allow Rocket and the team a far more cohesive effort with the community. I think these two things need to made BRUTALLY clear on the front page of the mods website. Frankly, as it stands right now it advertises the mod as some polished complete wonderous experience of nothing but fun, danger, excitement and adventure. And while it's slowly getting there, right now the mod is basically anything but. I'm sure I'll get the load of 'hardcore' DayZ fans in here to tell me to QQ more and fuck off, but these things need to be said. I'm not complaining about either of these things, I'm complaining about how they're presented. (Rather, the fact that they aren't, at all) Frankly I feel somewhat lied too. I got this with very little knowledge (as most probably do), and I didn't know I would need to pay again (I don't have a lot of money to throw around), and that it was so buggy and broken and WIP. Luckily for me I'm trying to become a game developer, so I'm okay with working in an Alpha version game mod. However a LOT of my friends are incredibly mad about buying Arma 2 for DayZ, and it just made me think, Rocket really falsely advertises the mod. I've got nothing against him, I think this is an amazing idea and it will go places, but as it stands the mods website is just blatantly lying to people to draw in as many as it possibly can, and it needs to stop.
