It would also make it less likely for people to abuse the current recombine/infinite ammo glitches. I agree 100% that this should be added eventually. I'd say it's medium priority.

This. It would provide a slow vulnerable, yet fun form of transportation. Log off? Train's free for the taking. It would be a blast to drive it around, plowing through towns shooting at zombies and/or players as you do.But it should only be added if it has a whistle that can be heard from miles away, to keep it realisitc, more vulnerable, and entertaining. (Hear a train in the distance, then a bunch of gunfire :P)

1 was just some cello/violin fx for like 15 minutes... 2 sounded more dramatic than creepy. Like the ending of a movie as the hero dies valiantly. :P I liked it though, but dont really think either fits the game.

Your thoughts on making ammunition seperate to magazines?
Yatagan replied to sealteamaus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
That's a real bland generalization. Magz are not single use unless your in active combat. In the hills shooting at distant targets? You'd probably keep your mags. Cleaning and resorting your weapon after a fight? Keep your mags.Charging the beaches of Normandy along with 200,000 other allied troops? Drop those mags who gives a damn. 95% of the time you keep the magazines. I've talked with my dad (15+ years in the special forces) about this a lot actually as it's frequently come up as I play video games. This is something I want, especially for combining low ammo mags to conserve space. OP gets my :beans: -
It sorts them to the bottom, but for me it is like 90% of the servers, leaving me very little choice on what to join...I agree that it would be beneficial if more people kept on top of updating their servers.

I agree with something like this. (The theory, exact numbers may need tweaking, etc) It would mean you have to be more cautious after being shot, even if you shoot back and win then heal. You would have a penalty, damage that you can't do anything about. You must simply wait. So if you run and gun down 10 people and each of them shoots you once or twice, by the end you are beaten down and far weaker. You have to hide and be careful until you regain your strength and full blood capacity. If you die in one shot, well you know what? Then you're dead. I don't see how those posts contribute to this thread. You could say that for half the suggestions here but it doesn't help in any way.

I'm half and half. Half of me thinks it would give more variety to each time you play. Much like playing a different class in [enter your choice of RPG here]. However the other half thinks everything should be equal and nobody should get any extra perks or anything. (Not to mention that I think some of those spawn with WAAAAAAAAAAY too much stuff. All of them should have next to nothing, just minor advantages if anything)

Yet another idea to encourage people to work together
Yatagan replied to unclegus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Me and my friend have played long enough to learn the map, and when we spawn we basically sprint towards eachother. Since you always spawn on the coast and know exactly where you are, there is 0 challenge in finding your friend for us. Being able to spawn together would simply save us the 10-30 minutes of sprinting in one direction.I agree with co-op spawning of some kind, but disagree with start equipment choice. You should spawn with next to nothing. No painkillers, no bag. Just a secondary melee weap (Crowbar?) and possibly a bandage. -
Rocket is working on fixing/tweaking most of those things. :)

I was just thinking about something. Would it be nice if the kill reel, the corner of your screen that was 'John was killed', was a tad more specific? Perhaps to combat the amount of people that seem to constantly get murdered by bandits (like me...), it could say 'Was killed' if zombies got them, or they fell to death, etc. But if another player kills them, it would just say 'was murdered'. Not by who or any additional details. Just so if you see 10 people die in a short amount of time, you know whether it was from zombies, or whether someone is on a murderous rampage and you can at least hide and be more cautious. But I'm not even sure if I like this idea 100%. What do you guys think?

Make drinks heal; only heal from food/drink when hungry/thirsty
Yatagan posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It has always struck me as somewhat odd that drinking doesn't heal you whatsoever. I don't care about realism, but as a game mechanic I think drinking should at least heal you some. Maybe limit it to healing only when you are thirsty? To prevent the player from downing 10 drinks at once to heal up. Also make drinking water heal more than soda, much like how cooked meat is better than canned food. Maybe make it more minor? Like soda does 50blood, and water does 100 or 150? This would improve the experience of needing to drink, as it would have other benefits other than just 'it fills up your hydration meter'. Giving that survival mechanic slightly more depth. On that note, I think food should also only heal when hungry. Meaning you can't down 10 steaks of beans to quickly regenerate health. Maybe you have to be at least 10% hungry for it to heal you or something? It would simulate 'overeating' and actual hunger more realistically and add depth, again, improving the overall experience in my opinion. -
Can you seriously goddamn stop? You aren't helping at all. Post reasons or anything. Even if you think the idea is the stupidest thing in the world, post in a collaborative way. Don't just post a goddamn video that says one single word.

Make drinks heal; only heal from food/drink when hungry/thirsty
Yatagan replied to Yatagan's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No, because like I said you only heal from drinking when you're oh-so-thirsty, meaning you cant drink-refill-drink-repeat. You would have to drink, then wait like 8 minutes before drinking would heal you any more. So you could hang out at the lake for 10 minutes, but that would be you taking a risk, as others would now come to drink more often because it heals. -

Anyone care to elaborate or is this forum 99% people who just go 'lolnope' for no reason without so much as even a hint of a reason or opinion? -
While I think more ways to heal and revive would add depth, bringing players back from total death should never be possible in a survival game...
-
I would like to voice my support for SOME kind of blood regeneration. Albeit it should indeed be VERY slow (It's always WAY too fast in games) it should at least exist. Much like how you heal over time in real life. But obviously much faster. I think 2/hp a mind is okay though maybe a tad too slow? Maybe like 4 or 5? Meaning if you get hit a couple of times by a zombie (500 dmg total?) you're okay within about an hour of play. As for the 'minecraft' verison, I think full hydration and hunger should HELP regenerate faster, but one should ALWAYS at least regenerate some. Even if only at 1bp/min.

He could rebuild the already present buildings to have interiors, but he would indeed need another person or a lot of free time. It's something I'd like to see slowly done (one building at a time) over the next many months. Then he could reduce all look chances, so you can search every single building, making it more realistic and deep.

Player Made "Left 4 Dead" style Graffiti
Yatagan replied to xDIx Revenge's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not if they're mixed. T.T -
I somewhat agree as well. I either play with a friend or alone. A character for each of those would be awesome. However part of me feels like this is going against what Dayz is supposed to be. But I'll ignore that part if this were to be added. :P

 The OP is asking to improvement on zombie's, not reduction of people...

Player Made "Left 4 Dead" style Graffiti
Yatagan replied to xDIx Revenge's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I donno... 95% of the L4d or TF2 sprays I see are porn, and I don't know how different it would be here... (As we all know, the entire internet appears to be like, 11 years old) -
Yeah, no. Subscriptions and microtransactions are absolutely horrible in 99.99999999% of games and this is no exception. I'd rather pay $100 to play infinitely (Which I still wouldn't do), than buy my lives. So, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
-
Rocket has apparantly said a LOT that this will never happen. I understand that. The solution isn't blatant PvE. The game and attutide of people playing it simply needs to change some. Mainly, the zombies need to become a huge threat. Forcing players to team up if they wish to survive. This would create a 'friendlier' (Yet still dangerous and cautious) environment for cooperation. And would make all the 'bored pros' stop sprinting around shooting everyone on sight.
-
I think this is the main issue with this game and why it's mainly just a giant PvP arena. The 'noobs' don't know what they're doing which makes it very hard. Therefor they dont kill people at all and want to work together and be friends. The 'pros' know what they are doing, so they get bored of zombies and fight people. It needs to be altered so that very few can hit that level of safety and boredom. Leaving like 95% of the people always in moderate danger of death. This would encourage teamwork and not gunning everyone you see down. Hopefully then more people would work together and the environment would become friendlier, but more desperate too. There would still be bandits, but not every single person with a gun would be one...
