If you got a penny for every time you simply posted the word 'No' and an accomplising picture, you'd have enough money to buy every single person who uses this forum so that you could run a sweat shop where we painted you pictures of people facepalming.By the way Rocket said he was ashamed of people like you in the community. If there were many types of maps then something would have to be worked out for using them. Either a rotation, or servers choose that map. This could be an opportunity to finally get multiple characters? You can have one character in each map? You then obviously couldn't travel between maps. Or he could go that route. One character but you can travel between the maps somehow.

I think the best way to stop KoS is to not KoS yourself. Me and my friend found a small server with only about 5-10 people on it. It appears that most who play there do so with the intention of avoiding other players. I ran into a total of 3 people yesterday, all armed. (And I was armed) We simply identified when we got near eachother, then moved along without any issues. It was so pleasent seeing as how 95% of people usually try to murder me the instant they smell my aftershave. The issue is attitude. Game balancing and changes could help some as well, but the main thing is attitude. Unless you're playing a bandit, don't KoS. If more people slowly start doing this, we can reverse this rut we are stuck in. Eventually only the bandits will KoS again and most survivors can function without murdering everyone they see...

Actually I was rather surprised by all this. The only I heard of testing or the possibility of a standalone at all was far after purchase. There is a little tag on the download button that says 'Alpha Version!' and that's it.I'm fine with having to pay for Dayz again, if he improves it (Which I'm sure he will), but I think he needs to make it 10000x more obvious that this is a very buggy, rapidly changing alpha and that he will be releasing the game standalone down the road. There is little to no mention of any of this anywhere unless you delve into the forums, something few will do.

I think something like this could potentially be a middle ground. Since I agree that free use is too much and abused, but NO use also has it's issues.

No... Yes there is colour, armour, and shoppe. But counsole is just plain not a word. :P But that's beside the point.It would simply require too much time, money, and effort for it to be worth Rockets time. Maybe once Dayz goes standalone for a while he makes his millions. Maybe then it can be something he looks into (Much like Minecraft and how that went) But it's FAAAAR too early in developement to even consider the idea for one second right now.

Tip until this is fixed: If you encounter this issue just restart the game. It's not ideal, but you'll not longer get the graphical glitch until you hit another town with bodies. All bodies currently near you will no longer cause this.

So don't use it.Just because you guys wouldn't use it doesn't mean that the dev shouldn't take 10 minutes to add a no friendly fire mode where players have to work cooperatively. I think it would phase in the newbies, attract a LOT more players, and ease people in. Along with supporting those who simply prefer to play without players. Saying 'No' at this point is you just being a stuck up ass. It would take Rocket literally like 15 minutes to code the servers to have a FF flag, and it would open up play that a huge portion of the community would love. Me and my friend have found a secret little server that rarely have above 10 people. We've barely encountered players and it's been the most fun we've had playing a game in a while. However when we played on populated servers before, we were constantly getting in fights with people and sniped/shot randomly out of nowhere. It ruined the fun and the experience. We'll get bored of no pvp eventually and go back to full servers, but the option definitely needs to officially be there. If Rocket did it he would be boosting a huge portion of the community .

So you want a game that is designed to be played for long periods of time with intenstity and focus to be put onto a platform that is designed to be played for a few minutes here and there on the go at your convenience? Not only would it be a programming and balancing nightmare, but doesn't make sense to even attempt this... :/

I actually think something that could be taken advantage of here would be some kind of overall world stat board thing. So instead of saying 'I need to find that helicopter and kill those zombies', you say 'We need to'. Something that counts everyone on the server or survivors as a whole. Or something. It would promote teamwork and survivors working together instead of personal gain and achievement.

Moral issues aside, cannabolism is actually very unhealthy. Someone who replaced the meats in their diet with human flesh would quickly get sick and their health would deteriorate. -
I think instead of a leaderboard, the goal should be to get the average life expectancy as high as we can get it. If we all play cooperatively and work together and slaughter billions of zombies that would be awesome.

"This won't work? How? He would have to pay and get a bunch of different licenses to develope for console, along with paying royalties to M$ and $ony if he charges money for the standalone. That's just a few reasons why it wont happen for a very long time, if at all.

I think it's pretty obvious that probably 95% of the people playing DayZ bought Arma 2 specifically for it. I think if you own Arma 2 already and have played DayZ (If you have a hive character present or something?) that you should get a discount or something. Maybe like 25-50% off DayZ. I understand why it shouldn't be free, but let's be honest most of us bought Arma 2 specifically for this mod. -
If you can afford a mac, you have the money for it.

I think bikes should be far more common as well. They're fun and hilarious and useful, but also incredibly dangerous and offer 0 protection from zombies and players alike.

Yeah as far as I know Arma 2 isn't on Mac, which means Dayz CANT be on Mac. And yeah it would add like, maybe 20% more people at most. Not double. :P

Which is exactly why he could experiment by giving us all starting weapons again. Last weapons we had, as far as I know, was Makarov's which is WAY too much.I think starting with a crowbar would be a good balance. Weak, but still SOMETHING to defend yourself. You should also start without painkillers or a backpack. Making it a lot harder, but you aren't defenseless. Because you can lose zombies, it just wastes your time.

I'm verifying it all now to see if that helps. I've played in first person ever since I noticed the head bob setting and lowered it. So it's not that. I can't have bad aim, I'm 10 ft away... I'm lining the sights up properly, I know it; I've fired guns in real life a SHITload, my dad is a gun trader so I've easily fired over 100 different kinds of guns in my life. So I know I'm aiming properly. It isn't lag, my ping is only about 35ms, and it happens on all servers I join. I'm not in pain, and if still occurs if I don't move for literally 10 minutes. So it must be corrupted or assumed-piracy. I'm verifying now. So far Arma 2 had one file fail, but it was only 1.2kb so my hopes are low... CO just failed 1 file as well, but it was 0kb... Wat.

I think a far simpler solution would be locking a character to a server. For example, if I have my two characters, Bob and John. I play on US100 on Bob. I die. I can go restart Bob on ANY server in the game, including US100. However if I swap to John, I cannot join US100 for one hour. It has been locked to Bob. I can only play on that server on Bob until the 1 hour cooldown wears off. I can still play. I can still play both characters, but I cannot 'revenge kill' or use one char to carelessly scout ahead to save my legit play. -
If it was done in like a vietnam style manner that would be awesome. I.e. you fire it into the air and it very slowly falls, lighting the area for 15-30 seconds. I suppose a second mode that is FAR brighter, but burns out very quickly (Shoots up and goes dead in 5 seconds?) for signaling and not a light source would be awesome. You sir have my beans.

I'm playing a legit copy. Bought Arma 2 during it's promotional event for $24. I'm aiming to be a game developer, I don't exactly endorse pirating games. And I'm not talking about long ranges here. A few weapons that I can't hit worth shit with are the revolver, 1911, Makarov, Enfield, and crossbow. I can be literally 10 feet from a zombie, his back taking up a very large portion of my screen (like 3x3 inch on my screen). I look down sights, aim square at his back and fire. Nothing. I don't hit. At a distance of 25-50m I notice the puffs of dirt as my bullets hit sometimes up to 10 ft away from zombies. I'm forced to use the breath vision (right click and it zooms) or else I hit WAY off, and even that has been rediculously innaccurate. Hitting several feet to either side of them at ranges of 10-50m. And I sit still until my crosshairs are perfectly still, and the two side bars are touching and the middle dash doesn't move. Put the dash at their head. I hit 4 feet to the left, and like 3 feet above them. Wtf. I can't shoot zombies anymore.

The issue with gun damage is now needing all 8 rounds of my Makarov to kill a single zombie. And don't say "Oh then shoot him in the head" because sometimes shit happens and I can't always be crouching tiger hidden libra in the goddamn bushes sniping their heads. I liked it before far more when it only took 3-4 body shots to kill a zombie with the Makarov. Fighting players on the other hand I have no problem with because they are using the same array of far weakened guns. I think bringing all gun damage up and making even the weak/starter guns more dangerous/effective would be a good thing.
