    Tents should despawn on death.

While I agree that the whole "Store items, die, come to tent grab items, death was basically meaningless" is bad, this makes no sense. Just because they died doesn't mean that their loot shouldn't be up for grabs, like it really would be. I still think the solution to all of this is on death you get a 24 hour ban from that server. It would at least make people have to work a lot harder to do this crap. Discouraging many and shrinking the population of those who do.

End game suggestion - holy book

What? Would everyone get one of these books? This is really random. And yeah lets leave any kind of holy-whatever out of this.
  3. But this is where it must be balanced. I think you should try your best to avoid covering any part of the inventory screen with another part (like that bag) at all costs, while still trying to maintain peripheral, which some must be lost, again to penalize the player. So it's an acceptable loss. And that makes total sense. That I really like. So instead of storing 3 guns in your alice pack, you may only store one, then you have three smaller parts. That's cool. :)
  4. My point isn't the layout of the actual UI in that picture, my point is how much screenspace it takes up. He was saying if he makes it too large it wouldn't fit on smaller monitors. The fact that it takes up 90% of my giant screen in Borderlands means it MUST fit onto smaller screens, so (Assuming the engine isn't 15 years old) he can make his large and it will scale to smaller screens just fine.
  5. The problem is that it adds unneeded time and clicks to the inventory management process. What if I want to move several things out of my backpack? If it closes each time then I have to reopen it, find the item again, then drag again. It would add a large amount of time. As for feeling like you're opening a bag, you can still easily achieve that with an outside window. Why must it block my inventory view? When I open a bag I don't stick my head into it, I can still see myself just fine. And again for game resolution that is not as big of a problem as you are making it seem. The game engine should intellegently scale the UI properly so it fits all monitors. Of course, you do still need to ensure that your design scales well, but in most cases it should. I'm certain that you could alter this current format to allow room for an additional 'bag' window, perhaps below? (Then move the whole thing up) As for size, and screen size, and space - Look at these. Now I can't vouch for what what size monitor you have, (As the image is 1688x1152 I'll assume rather large?) but it doesn't matter. This is your current mockup: Notice how much realestate is wasted. There is a HUGE amount of redspace around it that simply isn't being used. Big screen or small, that's space that could easily be rearranged to fit a new 'bag' window. Here is an example of a UI that uses screen realestate very efficiently, Borderlands: This is taken on a 1680x1050 22" monitor, a large monitor compared to most. The fact that it takes up so much space can attest to the fact that it MUST work on even a smaller monitor right? The engine simply shrinks it down to fit. Look at how little space is wasted. The only wasted space is two little bars on either side, which doesn't make much difference. It allows for an asthetic look, while still utilizing most of the screen. Now, one major difference between the two games and potential UI design, is that (In singleplayer) Borderlands pauses when the menu is opened. DayZ wont (I hope!), meaning it may be necessary to maintain a good field of view even with the menu open. However how much is viewable must be balanced. It's okay if it blocks most of your view, it would add penalty to using inventory, discouraging use during a firefight, or in a very dangerous zone. However, ideally the UI will be smooth and intuitive, so the player can open it, flick around then close it very quickly without grinding around and putting themselves into greater danger. One of those dangers and time consumers being the bag window overlay. Also, may I inquire as to why, in the bag view, the grid is broken? If all items simply take up a number and shape of slots, wouldn't it be better if it was just a solid grid that filled in with the items you have? Kind of like S.T.A.L.K.E.R.? I'm not trying to heckle or anything, simply trying to give critique and constructive criticism so that you can make a really awesome UI that we all can enjoy. :)
  6. Again, not. That's in the forum, and entirely seperate section of the website. It's unrealistic to expect every single person considering buying it to looking through the entire forum for the fact threads and read those. As for the other comments, no, not all interviews mention these things. Some later ones may mention the standalone thing. He needs to make it UNMISSABLE, these facts. That would benefit absolutely everyone involved. I don't know why you guys are against the idea. You're basically saying, "No, I want more people to buy the game, regret it, then bitch and slow the suggestion and community aspect of this mod." Why would you possibly want that?

    Spawning Scenarios

While the exact details may need tweaking, I do agree that adding random conditions to spawning like this would spice things up and make the game more enjoyable instead of just always the exact same gear, randomly on the beach.
  8. One thing to remember when designing UI elements is screen realestate, and visibility. Not only does overlaying the backpack not use potential realestate, but it blocks the players view of the rest of their inventory. If I have my backpack open, and can't see the rest of what I have outside of the pack, it's going to be very annoying to constantly close and reopen it to see everything.Keep in mind that the game engine and settings can scale and move the UI to accommodate screen sizes, so saying you want to overlay it to save space isn't really the best idea. I think it's pretty good so far, but I really do have to voice my opinion against overlaying the bag. :)

zombies shoud have more realistic loot

I like the idea of a lighter, but maybe since it's so common now, it only has like randomly between 1-10 uses? So you find it but you don't know how long it's got, and you can't use it much before needing another. :D Overall I agree that improved zombies is a must, Rocket plans on doing something like this for Standalone for sure.
  10. It looks confusing, but I'm sure if I got to use it I would understand very quickly. I like it so far! :D

    Soft Kill options

Maybe with the pistol whip but you can choke someone into unconsciousness pretty easily. Though you'd have to be trained to do so, and in this we're all supposedly your average Joe.If a proper choke hold is applied to someone they'll pass out within 10 seconds, and be dead with 15. Pistol whipping on the other hand would probably just hurt like a bitch, it may or may not knock you out. Honestly I just think non LTL options would just be used 99% of the time to knock out your target easily, then walk up and shoot them in the head and take their stuff. I don't see people actually using it to drag the person off, or even loot them then leave them be. This community is mostly dicks, so it would just be abused. (Unless secretly we aren't all dicks?)

Infinte Ammo bug fix, and Alt-F4

What? AltF4 isn't needed on hackers. Just abort. A hacker is either going to kill you instantly without warning, or it will be obvious something is going on. (I've had hackers stalk me from the bushes playing horror music before coming in for the kill, that kind of thing) Second, what bug is swapping clothes fixing? And how is deleting them a solution? So once I put on camo, it's on me or gone? What if I find a Ghillies Suit and I want my friend to have the camo? That's a horrible solition, to a bug that you don't even really clarify. Infinite ammo? That was fixed, was it not?

Death should really be the end.

Much simpler solution, when you die you're banned from the server for 24-72 hours. That way a bunch of other people have a fair go at your stuff. Of course clans can always just move and resupply you, that will be far harder to solve.

Will "Checkpoint" solve the "Coward Quit"?

This already happens some with the buggy hive. I've gotten killed before and when I go to play next, I'm alive again like 10 minutes before I died. Plus what if I'm playing an I find a SUPER awesome gun, then I lose internet. If hive hasn't saved for 15 minutes then I'm fucked because chances are when I go to play next that gun wouldn't be there. Alt+F4'ers are annoying as hell, but I think this would in general be worse.
  17. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but either way it needs to be changed ASAP in the next hotfix. Every single time I log in I have 0 humanity and a bandit mask. I'll build as much as 5000 humanity helping people, and not shooting everyone I see, only to log out and the next time I log in have it all lost and look like a bandit. I just logged in to play some, and I got less than 20 feet from where I logged in before someone shot me. I almost gurentee this is because I have an M4A1 and a bandit mask. If I had a survivor/hero head they may not have shot. This is getting really annoying. Is this a bug or what's going on? It needs to be changed. Measuring humanity isn't exactly accurate or the best, but it's a start, and it doesn't work worth crap right now. :( I do take some solice in knowing that whoever shot me lost a crapload of humanity. Since it's a penatly per hit, minus their humanity. They shot me like 9 times (Weak gun?) and I have 0 humanity meaning they gained none, and lost 9xPenalty, however much that is. EDIT: This also means that I spawn with the bandit mask on, so I'm screwed unless I hang out until it disappears after like 20 minutes.
  18. I figure this may be a hardcoded mechanic, so it can wait until standalone, but I'd love it if this was included in the initial release. It makes zero sense to me that a magazine that is loaded into my current gun takes up a slot in my inventory. It isn't in my inventory, it's in my goddang gun. I think it would be great if instead of it taking up a lot, it goes into your gun. Then maybe the gun has a green bar next to it to show it's load, and you can right click on the gun and say 'remove clip' or something. I always get really annoyed when I have 7 colt mags and 1 bandage in my inventory, but it says 7 | 6, instead of 7 | 7 like I think it should. I have 7 mags sitting there in my inventory, shouldn't I have 7 spares? If they changed this mechanic I would, and I think it would be much better. :)
  19. Ehhhh. Maybe if only high level loot was scaled down. I don't want there to be a bean drought just because there's only 10 people on the server. Then again that would make the game more extreme and give the PvE side more challenge... I shall think on this.

    multiple users on 1 pc.

Lol, when I read the title I thought you meant like, two people one keyboard/mouse and I was like. Lolwat. I agree. I think multiple accounts are needed not only for multiple people, but for people with multiple playgroups. I play with my friend sometimes. Sometimes I don't. It would be awesome if I had two seperate characters for those two occasions. Character revenge-jumping (And whatever other crazy theories the naysayers can come up with) could be easily overcome with a 24 hour server character lock. If I have save 1 and save 2, and I play on server US555 on save 1, from the time I log out, I cannot play save 2 on US555 for 24 hours. That way I can die and swap to another character, but it MUST be on another server. Problems solved. Everyone's happy. Except for the assholes who say no just to be the assholes who say no, of course.
  21. Then why the hell is it just happening to me?I just respawned and immediately had a bandit mask and -17000 humanity. The first thing I looted had a silenced MP5. I think this game wants me to be a bandit... T.T
  22. No it resets to 0, and every so often (10-15 mins?) you gain 150 humanity up to a limit. It used to be 150/5min up to 2000 humanity. But I think he's tweaked those numbers. That's all your seeing. It doesn't return to normal and it totally forgot your previous humanity. The biggest one is being stuck with the damn bandit face at 0. It literally screws me constantly because people shoot because they think I'm a bandit.

    Bandit Skin

Except for the fact that, I at least, spawn with one... I spawn with 0 humanity but I have a burqa headwrap for like 15 minutes. I have to be careful as shit until it goes away... I'd rather I spawned without one... Is this a bug, or is it just me?

    Defibrillators?

Ignoring the fact that that isn't how Defibs work (Just like how Morphine doesn't instantly fix bones), I don't think a single thing should be added to bring dead people back to life. Not a single mechanic ever except respawning. That would be a god item and completely remove the fear of death. I'm all for adding a bunch more injury mechanics and ways to prevent death, but not bringing people back from the dead. That's something that should (And will not) ever be part of this game. Also use search, as others have said there's like 9 topics on this every single day.
  25. You guys are overcomplicating it. The point is that if I have a bag full of stuff, and I take out a magazine and put it in my gun, I could put another magazine in the bag, as the space is now available.
