I'm on nVidia and setting up the extended display obviously allows me to play the game on my primary monitor and place Mozilla with the DayZDB Map on the secondary monitor. However, when I move the cursor to the second monitor and click on the map to move it (scroll it) the game minimizes to desktop on my primary monitor. Is there a way to avoid this and keep the game running maximized in full screen on my primary while messing around with Mozilla on my secondary monitor?

DayZ on two monitors: Game + Browser?
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Well in ~80% of cases I really don't need the map, but when I do, I hate tabbing out. It really only comes in sometimes when I'm "reading" the terrain without a compass, since I mostly move through the wilderness, and I just hate the ingame map. Windowed mode doesn't lower my framerate which is odd so I'll give it a spin as I've got some spare time today. -
Not sure if the General subforum is the right place for this, Troubleshooting could've been more appropriate but then I don't actually have a problem, rather an upgrade dilemma :D So yeah, I'm actually focusing 90% of my upgrade on improving DayZ gameplay, so here it is: (Note that any thoughts and advices are much welcome!) EDIT: It's a Desktop, not a Laptop (thanks for pointing that out Applejaxc :)) Running W7U 64 (thanks Hetstaine) My current setup: MB - Gigabyte H55-S2H, 1156 socket (supports i3 and i5) CPU - Intel i3 530 @ 2.93GHz (stock cooling), 4Mb L3 cache, dual core (4 Threads), 32nm RAM - 2 x 2GB Black Dragon 1333Mhz GPU - nVidia GeForce 560 1Gb DDR5 (Gainward, stock cooling), yeah it's not the Ti edition. HDD - Western Digital Black Caviar 750Gb (System drive) HDD2 - Western Digital Black Caviar 1.5Tb (Games run from this drive) PSU - Coolermaster SilentPro 600W (modular, less cables :D) Planned upgrades (subject to change): UPDATED: GPU - ASUS GTX670 2Gb MB - ASRock Z77 EXTREME4, Intel Z77, VGA by CPU, 2xPCI-Ex16, 4xDDR3, SATA3/RAID, eSATA3/USB3.0/VGA/DVI/HDMI (Socket 1155) CPU - Intel Core i7-3770K, 3.50GHz/3.90GHz turbo, 8MB L3 cache, quad core (8 Threads), 22nm, (Socket 1155) RAM - Kingston HyperX DDR3 8GB (2x4GB), 2400Mhz, CL11, XMP Predator 1. Right off the bat I know that I paid least attention to the MB when I got the rig ~3 years ago, so any remarks about that would be welcome. 2. Seeing how GPU/CPU intensive Arma engine is, albeit very tweakable for better performance, my aim is to shoot for a minimum of ~35fps 'at all times' (at the moment I'm at 20-25fps in cities with occasional short hickups down to 15ish, and 40-50fps in the wilderness with occasional hickups when running + ALT-head swiveling around), hence the planned GPU + CPU upgrades. Any remarks regarding the choice of upgrades? Are they even needed, and to what extent? (Note: Gainward is not so clock friendly and it gets Sun-hot with the stock cooling I have, as for my CPU it's a similar story with ~3.2Ghz being the optimal stable clock with stock cooling, and my CPU is the only i3 without Turbo, but naturally my MB might be another obstacle when it comes to clocking.) 3. Having only 4Gb RAM sure is low nowadays, and I'll get more most likely regardless of my attention to Arma/Dayz but seeing that the game is capped at 2Gb I wonder is it required for better performance? I did 'run' Dayz using RAMDisk and didn't notice any change at all with regards to FPS, while the shorter loading time feels more like placebo, and the HD hickups aren't actually eliminated. 4. SSD drive? A paste of my current Arma2OA.cfg file: language="English"; adapter=-1; 3D_Performance=93750; Resolution_Bpp=32; Windowed=0; Resolution_W=1440; Resolution_H=720; refresh=60; winX=2; winY=30; winW=1440; winH=720; winDefW=800; winDefH=600; Render_W=1440; Render_H=720; FSAA=0; postFX=0; GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; HDRPrecision=16; lastDeviceId=""; localVRAM=1025966080; nonlocalVRAM=1807478784; vsync=0; AToC=6; FXAA=1; PPAA=0; PPAA_Level=0; serverLongitude=52; serverLatitude=0; shadingQuality=0; mouseSmoothing=0; PS - I'm not a big freak about overclocking, but I dipped my toes into it over the years (decades rather) mostly just to see: a - how fast it can go, while remaining stable, b - how much can I improve performance should I ever need to. Many thanks in advance, Kreinz

Freaking thing is awesome, been playing it with my brother for the past few days. The only thing bad about it is lack of EU servers, but those will come as things develop.

DayZ Breaking Point - Exploring new areas and features + some PVP
[email protected] replied to tamaster92's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Saw the series as well, kinda wished there was more tbh :) If you don't mind I'd like to make a suggestion: Explore the "new" areas that Breaking Point introduced, as in get the new buildings and their locations on video from towns such as Guglovo and what not. -
PC upgrade, need some advice
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was afraid someone might say this, as I've had the same feeling myself lately :D Yeah well, I did purchase it some 3 years ago, it was quite good back then. EDIT: Updated the "Planned upgrades" in the original post: GPU - ASUS GTX670 2Gb MB - ASRock Z77 EXTREME4, Intel Z77, VGA by CPU, 2xPCI-Ex16, 4xDDR3, SATA3/RAID, eSATA3/USB3.0/VGA/DVI/HDMI (Socket 1155) - performs quite well vs. Asus P8Z77-WS CPU - Intel Core i7-3770K, 3.50GHz/3.90GHz turbo, 8MB L3 cache, quad core (8 Threads), 22nm, (Socket 1155) RAM - Kingston HyperX DDR3 8GB (2x4GB), 2400Mhz, CL11, XMP Predator Total damage: ~850EU. Hoped to stay in the mid 600s but after some valid points made by people here I might have to cough up a bit more. Remember, the upgrade (aside from RAM) is solely motivated by Dayz since after 10ish months of ever increasing interest in the game I consider it a worthy investment. -

You're correct about the tiny wallet hit, to take things from i5 to i7, mere 60EU (cba to convert to dollars). The price for ASRock Extreme4 MB is rather low, 135EU, but I've yet to check what people have to say about its' performance. -

I'm kind of leaning towards thinking that "a rig which makes Arma2/Dayz run smoothly, will make DayZ SA run smoothly as well". I could be wrong, just got the impression that dev diaries seem to suggest it won't be too far off and it just can't get much clunkier than it currently is engine-wise :). -

A desktop, sorry for not specifying that. The "Planned upgrades" are really subject to change, as I won't be a penny pincher when it comes to this upgrade... after all DayZ is at stake :) @dulix11: Will check out ASRock Extreme4, seems it's quite cheap really. -
PC upgrade, need some advice
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
@Fluxley58 - I actually considered that, but now that you've suggested it too, it sounds even more reasonable. That will actually be my first step. @Hetstaine - Yeah I killed the settings as well to even out the odds (check out my .cfg, it doesn't get much lower than that other than the 100% rendering). Forgot to mention I run W7U 64, thanks for reminding me there. Well so far it's a no brainer, CPU cooling and an SSD, both very cheap. Thing is, when recording gameplay (I use Bandicam) it's unplayable in cities as my fps varies ~10fps and goes up to 15-20 indoors or when there's not much going on onscreen. -
Server name: DE Private (v1.7.4.4/build 100296) [regular][GMT-10] =[FDGU]= Die deutsche Community with [banZ] IP address: 176.57.140.22:2302 My brother and I are basically looking for a stable private hive that runs Cherno without additional cars/buildings/loadouts and what have you. So far MyDayz has been excellent, but we tried finding more. Incident 1. Last night I logged in alone, the server was virtually empty and I started my scavanger run. Since there was no people I made my way towards Elektro. By the time I got there, I already found some mediocre gear and voila, the Elektro church was destroyed, a chopper crashed nearby, additional 6 ready-to-fly choppers (some with loot in 'em) near the souther firestation, and one aeroplane as well. By then I thought the server is probably owned or constantly prone to hackers, but I looted my way around Elektro and hopped into one of the choppers, heading for Chernogorsk. During my looting there I pretty much got bored as I supposed all of my loot will be gone once any of these infantile players pop-in. So I logged out. Incident 2. Today, my brother and I played together. From the DayZCommander I saw that some of the people with the FDGU tag were logged-in, and I went in to ask them if they're aware of the hacking incident, since I wanted to check if I stand a chance at continuing to play on the server with what gear I've found. They said that the hacking problem has been taken care of. So my bro' and me started off, I found him and gave him some stuff. After about 3-4h of game-play I see a guy pop out of the sky (teleport) and falling in front of me near a high value barn, and another guy spawned inside the barn near my brother. Ironically, we killed them both (though 1 spawned twice). They had weapons that aren't in DayZ (M4A1 Holo SD, G3 mags), as well as Satchel charges and a whole bunch of fancy stuff. For whatever reason, it took me about 10ish shots to the body for the two I've killed, for them to die (they were lagging a bit, this might have been intentional). Anyhow, once we finished them off we saw that there still were people from the FDGU online and we immediately reported the incident and players involved, on top of which they were already reported several times previously regarding teleporting. The two of them basically started flaming us over side chat, and the admin did absolutely nothing, he never spoke out at all. We proceeded to take their Coyote backpacks, and all the fancy loot (except the scripted crap, as we'd lose it anyway I gather?) and what do ya know, behind me spawns one of the dudes I killed with the exact same gear he had when I killed him, and his buddy spawns outside the barn (location: 39, 106, well away from any spawn points) also with the gear he had just 1 minute ago when he died. This time they killed us. We didn't make a fuss of it, they told us to "go f*ck ourselves" and similar crap, and we merely left the server saying that it's crappy. I went on to ask for the admin to speak to me about this, he never replied. I went to their teamspeak, nothing either. My advice, avoid the above mentioned server. It's either run by hackers or the admins are completely incompetent.

Hacker-friendly private hive
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Apologies for posting in the wrong section, I was in-game and kinda made a rushed post, not thinking at all about the fact I'm posting in the wrong place. Lol at the assumption(s) that I was advertizing a hacker-friendly server. That said, I re-read my topic title and it's no wonder you assumed that :D Thanks AIRCAV, so far we're enjoying MyDayz but we keep looking for more 'safe' communities to play in. I'll definitely check out BB. -

It could give smaller groups of players a middle ground between tents and resource demanding bunkers, provided that wilderness foliage is done to resemble the wilderness more than it does currently. Just as a basis here's some mat's player(s) would need + w/e else to make it more interesting and not so easy to assemble: - Wooden beams - Wooden planks - Hand saw/Chain saw - Nails - Coating (for protection, to make it more durable against the elements) - etc. etc. Shacks could be different in size and perhaps shape, requiring more materials and increasing capacity as well.

Farily new to the game, but like the next guy I don't like being 'robbed' of my honest day's work by a hacker. I haven't encountered a server where there's a hacker causing shit (least I think I haven't), but seeing that they can spawn weapons and what not, do they target servers with 25-30+ players or lower population servers ~15 and lower? I prefer playing on higher populated servers, makes the experience more thrilling, but if there's a high risk of losing stuff to hackers I'd surely move where there's less people.

Hacker's server preference?

~1h? LOL. I've started few weeks ago and didn't encounter a hacker or a server where there's one. -
Hacker's server preference?
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hm ok, so the private servers are the way to go basically, though I guess joining passworded ones would require being a member of a community/clan and what not? Also, is the game's anti-cheating software accomplishing anything to at least make people think twice before hacking because of the risk of having their account/cd key banned, or do they just keep updating that thing to avoid BattleEye or whatever it is and keep on 'rocking'? -
Ok so it's not intolerable or anything, but it IS choppy. When moving the mouse around it just doesn't run smoothly at all. I always keep the GPU drivers updated. I've tried lowering all of the settings, and it had no effect whatsoever. Spec: GPU - GeForce 560 PCU - i5 3ghz RAM - 8gigs PSU - Coolermaster 650w silent I'm running a non-steam DayZ, on W7 Ultimate (fully updated).

How can i know who killed me?

That's the spirit, I knew you would appreciate me not taking out your aiming eye. I always shoot people in the left eye, it makes no sense to be cruel by crippling aiming capabilities of fellow Survivors :D. -
Perhaps constructing a radio antenna/transmitter would prove to these agencies that there's an organized human presence in need of assistance :). Naturally constructing this wouldn't be easy, so should anyone manage to do this hardly makes him/her/them unimportant survivors that washed up on the shore.

Should I upgrade my CPU or GPU?
[email protected] replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I posted a similar question today, although my game wasn't running as bad as yours does. This is the thread in question. You might try what SheriffHD advised me to do, as my game was a little choppy: (from that same thread) Doing this eliminated the choppiness entirely for me, the game runs 'smooth' as hell now. I wrote 'smooth' cause the FPS could be better, but from what I've read so far the game's engine is clunky which is most likely the reason for FPS problems many people have.
