  1. People will always complain about dying, hell they even complain about dying in team death match games. It's the ones who complain about being sniped on the shores with no gear running into cherno that have valid points. And the sad fact of the matter is that most bandits do this, go on any populated server you have bandits literally fighting over sniping positions to kill players who can't defend themselves with duped weapons. They are not killing to steal your gear as the 'bandit' name might suggest, they are griefing new spawns for the hell of it. And I believe when you set out to kill someone for no other reason than to make them angry/sad/etc that person is justified in judging you. Because there is no challenge in it, no reward, no nothing, soon not even a kill count. Nothing, just grief. I believe THAT should be changed, bandits are needed, survivors are needed, hero's are welcome to. But the game can do without many of the so called 'bandits' whose sole purpose it is to cause other people grief. I believe it is acceptable to say "There is something wrong with you" to those people. We all have those knee jerk reactions and shooting to save yourself or survive or even protect something close to you makes sense in game. Beans.
  2. The only people I shoot on sight are bandits and ghillie's with sniper rifles. We all know why.
  3. OK. For the sake of pointless argument I will pretend that your original post was addressing the game 3 months ago, I don't hate bandits, they add a fun element to the game. I hate some bandits that kill for the sake of killing, which is a huge majority. You kill for gear to survive, if you're not killing for gear then whats the reason? self defense? that's valid. Sniping people with no gear above cherno isn't. Which is what many a 'bandit' do. No it isn't. In fact you are now rewarded for not being a douche with the coolest looking skin in the game and a minor speed buff a long with a vest that protects against small arms. http://en.wikipedia....ki/Sandbox_game luckily for DayZ it is a sandbox. It is also called a sandbox by many a site such as mmorpg.com. And pretty much every where else that recommends it. But oh no..YOUR definition is right....yeah. Any sandbox game, ever, will always favor killing people on site for there gear. That's what makes it a sandbox don't be so moronic. I could kill you and steal your car, valuables, and maybe even identity. What stops me huh!? THE LAW! MADE BY PEOPLE! Made by a fucking community. If I kill you do I get struck down by some god in the sky? no the law needs to punish me if they even catch me, if people even catch me. SANDBOX. Jesus... That's why as a community you see cherno police, and other groups trying to enforce a law to stop bandits. Cause they can FREELY ROAM and kill people, unless we stop em. It is there, why do you think we have Hero and Bandit skins that are bound to you MORALLY AS A PLAYER AND NOT TO YOUR CHARACTER. What could rocket POSSIBLY be trying to say like this? Why would he make it persist through death bound to YOU THE PLAYER. I wonder.. 1. Depends if you're griefing other players. 2. So you say. I'm in a hero skin with +40,000 humanity and I die way less than my bandit friends. I also usually have better stories to tell. Maybe you should look at the way you play? (Maybe you could be doing something wrong?) I know I have been shot less since the Hero skin came out. And btw friendly =/= stupid. Quit talking like it does, you don't have to walk up to a guy whose point a gun at you to be friendly, just don't shoot survivors in the back of the head when they have no gear. I suggest you look at this guy play. Solid hero, doesn't shoot on sight and helps bambi's and punishes bandits If he can do it why can't you? not good enough? some people enjoy a challenge. Looks to me like hes being rewarded VERY WELL for being a good guy. I'll tell you to scroll up a bit as it has been addressed. Quick question though, in single player games do you always select 'easy' mode? Seeing as how it was what your whole original post was based on I really would like to know which board game it is. Not lying, I want to know. What fucking rules? where are these rules? and what the fuck are you trying to win? WHAT GAME ARE YOU PLAYING?! how do I win at DayZ? I play to survive, if I survive great! If I had a great time playing and had some awesome experiences even better! even if I die I play to enjoy it, seriously what game are you playing that has an endgame that you win at? cause it isn't DayZ. This is like the same thing you said 3 times in a row I swear to... anyway. Killing people is beneficial for you because that is how you see the game, to kill other people and take there shit. Then die and do it again, it's a gear grind for you we get it. Some people including myself can play a game for more than just the fake digital gear you get. We don't need any special hold your hand perks for what we do. We do it because it provides good gameplay and helping people in any situation online or off makes you feel good. "I have to roleplay to have morality because the game gives me absolutely no reason not to do bad things. And it gives me reasons not to be a nice guy because there is a good chance I'll get shot." Despite the fact that things are twice as easy with a partner you could me and the fact that the game gives you a skin that actually slightly improves speed and armor. I don't believe you should need incentive to be a nice guy. Cause it's a sandbox game, and like real life you don't get any further ahead being a good guy, but it DAMN sure makes you feel better at the end of the day. And in this game you even have the benefit of gaining a teammate and friend. The advantage is right in your face your just too caught up worrying about fake gear! "Who's complaining again? Me? Wow I didn't know that saying that a mechanic in AN ALPHA STAGE GAME is wrong is called complaining. I don't understand that mindset. We're here to test the game and give suggestions and feedback. That's my feedback. Give a negative consequence to killing otherwise the game is supporting a certain playstyle and I think it's unacceptable in a game that wants to be a sandbox and tell me that it's just my personal choice to be good or bad. It's not. It's a choice between more and less advantageous position. It would be matter of my personal choice only if both options would be equally valid from the mechanics point of view." Firstly, take it to the damn suggestion forum then! Secondly what you are explaining is a theme park game where everything is set out for you and its an even playing field. Sandbox's aren't like that, they are unfair, and often unforgiving as rocket has stated the game is (you die, you're dead). That's what makes it great it separates the people who take the high road and those who take the low. Sandbox's don't keep the playing field even, go play eve online. See how unforgiving that is. And guess what people who kill newbsters for no reason over there are called to? Dicks. Luckily they have security sectors that somewhat address the issue. Somewhat. I kind of miss eve now. "Yeah I'm sure a comment like "please don't ever own a gun" is referring to my in game character. 3 things. 1 just check threads like "why do you kill?" and you will see a lot of people saying how killing others in dayz is immoral, griefing, that the person must be an asshole in real life and that they are sociopaths. (just because they have killed your virtual pawns) 2 I don't care in the slightest what they think about me. 3 Again, the thread was to show that it's the game mechanics supporting killing and it's the design that you should be blaming, not people. And again, calling a game sandbox doesn't make it a sandbox." 1. I see very few topics complaining about being legitimately killed. Starting a thread like that is trollbait, survivors can troll to ya know. 2. Then shut up? (no offence intended but you must to make your original topic) 3. It is a sandbox as I and every other person on the net is calling it but you and by very definition it is. Also it doesn't support killing, you kill someone on sight they get the mentality then everyone does it, you're just as likely to get sniped in cherno anyway. Good luck. "I'm not complaining about anything. You seriously need to change your mindset. I'm just showing people the game mechanics without all their assumptions and illusions and saying that it's pretty insane to consider people assholes for beating other people in a GAME. I don't mind you thinking that a character I'm playing is an asshole. Maybe I'm roleplaying a sick fuck. But these people think that what you do in game, reflects in 100% the way you are in real life. That's crazy." I highly HIGHLY doubt that people think you are a murdering sociopath in real life or there would be a huge uproar about it. They might think you're a dick and overstate it, but I assure you they don't think you pick up hooker on the way home and murder them. I'm 99.9% positive that your view on how people view you is skewed by the Internets and what appears to be a thin skin problem.
  4. Before I leave though and come back to reply to the rest of this post please have a look here: http://en.wikipedia....ki/Sandbox_game as you obviously have no idea what a sandbox game is, much like you don't know what role playing is (you can probably search that up on wiki to). Edit: Also this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonlinear_gameplay which is listed as sandbox. But you know, DayZ fits both.
  5. You're just wrong. By you're thought the game mechanics make the game and not the community. What game mechanics punish people being friendly? none. The community does by have a shoot on sight attitude. You just continue to contradict yourself, as I will point out more thoroughly when I respond to your long post (half to do some things for a bit, but i'll be back) this time I'll go into more detail for you.
  6. And people can freely judge you for it, wonderful thing isn't it. How rocket made the bandit and hero skins attached to the player and not the character? as if HE WANTS people to be judged by there morals. Great just what the internet needs, another assclown.
  7. Just hoping to catch the original thread posters attention without getting lost in the butt kissing or raging lol

Banned by admin for stealing Huey

I still enjoyed the little story. Does no one care anymore? sheesh.
  9. Thing is very few bandits aren't duping there gear. On top of that very few forum posts on here are complaining that they were killed legitimately in a competitive environment. People complain about duping and scripting bandits that attack with no fear of losing things because of exploiting the game. The issue of people judging others when they are killing others for gear is a non-issue. People just don't complain about it. It's the duping bandits that kill new spawns for fun and the like which doesn't even coincide with your "power up" argument that people rage about. That's the thing about sanbox's sir. It's NOT the game mechanics that make the game. It is the community (How many times does Rocket have to say this?). The people are free to shape the game as they please with a game like this, even with how limited it is now. How people decide to play this game molds the entire structure of it. Unfortunately people have turned cheek away from competitive fights, or clan wars, or killing for gear, or for survival. And have chosen to exploit the game's weaknesses to kill those who often cannot fight back, for the simple purpose of causing them grief, which yes, makes them a dick. I totally object to this. This is the mindset that ruins a sandbox like this. Playing friendly can put you at a HUGE advantage depending on what you look at as your goals in this game. Sure being friendly and stupid will get you killed, but being cautious and friendly can bring you more then gear. It can bring you friends in game, adventures, random encounters and experiences with people you don't even know. It gives you the potential to take a friend in game and possibly even have him be a friend in real life. It adds a community and a depth to the game far beyond your shallow interpretation of the game mechanics. At what point does it get boring collecting all the best loot? about 3 months ago according to a lot of players on here. What are you left with? Your experiences that's what. And when people go out of there way to prevent this, people get mad and they should. Banditry is great when it isn't being exploited and when it isn't looked at as the ONLY way to play. How boring this game must be for people that refuse to shape the game themselves. You have stripped away the SOUL of a sandbox game which is the player base. Haven't I said this before? hasn't rocket? he is constantly going on about how it's the players who shape the world not the core game. He just puts the tools there, we choose how we want to play. Now you have a ton of people like you who are complaining that people are mad at you for playing team death match. Maybe because they want something more from there game then just the mechanics that were put there for them. Maybe they see what Rocket does and want to play the game for the experiences, not the kill count. I don't know what kind of board game you could be spouting about where you start at a severe disadvantage to other people but I don't want to play it. Now can I ask you where is the entertainment in defeating people in a 'competitive' online environment when there is no competition in it. Griefing is the primary reason for it and everyone who has ever been on the internet in the last 10 years knows it. Don't mask it. A-holes always single out the weak, and they will always be called A-holes. There would be nothing immoral in-game about killing someone weaker than you if you needed his stuff. Unfortunately that isn't what is complained about on the forums so than CAN NOT be what you are addressing as that would be a non-issue now wouldn't it? How many people complain on the forums about being killed legitimately? what great outburst are you addressing then. Cause I see people complaining about camping cherno with hacked weapons and duping. What you have to role play in order to want to experience some interactions with strangers in game? you have to role play in order to care about what happens to your in game character? you have to role play to not have the urge to shoot everything you see? and grief? Good god man I think you should look up role-playing (You know where you ARE the character, don't know things he wouldn't, only talk in game). I feel sorry for you if you think that caring about what happens to your character and your experiences means you need to role play. Again, don't need to role play. I think adding something in that would hurt people who aren't morally sound is an awful idea. It should be the community at large that punishes those people, and in some regards it is working. We now have BANDIT complaining about wearing head wraps because they are getting shot on sight now, people see them as murderers and they get what they deserve no punishment needed, us survivors will do it ourselves thanks. Don't need a hokey in game mechanic to help us with that now that we can see em. I guess some people might consider by extension you playing the "asshole" role when you have a choice, and just taking the easier road, I guess it's well within there rights to assume you might be a bit of a dick. Maybe you aren't? who knows. I can't say I agree with your views on games I know that. But I see very few people calling others on the forums sociopaths and murderers, mostly it's people saying don't be a dick or whatever. Or raging. Not at all serious like you're pointing out. Maybe a few post, but definitely not as common you are making it out to be. Plus that wouldn't make sense anyway. Atleast 50% of the people who play this game are JUST like you. So don't fret, at worst people will think you're a dick for being one in game, at best you can play some TDM with your buddies. Right? Edit: Why not make a topic about how people get bashed on the forums by the community for complaining legitimately about hackers in game as opposed to complaining about people judging others when they are killed legitimately by them (which is a FAR less common topic). If you are so against people judging others why are you not stepping in on these forum posts that completely degrade new players and call them a whiny POS for complaining about scripting? I mean if you care so much about judging others morals and all.
  10. Oh how I wish using hacked weapons would get you banned. Would love a warning system "You have logged on with a hacked item [AS50 TWS] please drop it this is your final warning" So many problems solved.
  11. Met a guy in here a few dayz ago. I picked him up in a truck I repaired which blew his mind then drove him around looking for helicopter crash sites, we found one and he couldn't believe it. Made me smile how excited he was. The next day we played and he died to chopper bandits as did I. Needless to say I told him the best part is starting it all over again. Hopefully he listened :). As far as the loot on them, all depends on how active your server is, I wouldn't mind them being a bit more rare at all.

    To the -gay- team

Really enjoyed this, would you mind if I added you on skype? You seem to play almost exactly the same way as me. And you have morals in game, which is rare.
  13. Some people just can't sit down and 'enjoy' a game.

    Back in the DayZ

I've been playing for a little over 2 months now. Love the game, having a great time most of the time minus the rampant hacking. What does disappoint me a little is that people point out that alpha isn't for fixing bug it's for adding new features, that's why bugs usually aren't fixed in a reasonable time frame even small ones. But in the 2 and a half months I have been playing I haven't really seen any "WOW!" features added yet, and by the way people talk it really hasn't changed that much. Just some tweaking now and then, some people don't like the new stuff, other people do > lalala. Commence arguing. I guess dogs coming in .3 is going to be a big alpha feature added but with an unannounced release date and the fact that they really just hunt animals for you and are gunna be shot and trolled by every bandit this side of cherno, I'm just not too thrilled for it. Although I am very excited for standalone and I do enjoy the game for what it is now (again, minus the insane amount of scripters and cheaters).
  15. I'm currently one badass mofo Hero. I'd be interested in joining if you guys aren't hardcore dupers or shoot on sight specialists.

    Goodbye DayZ and Hackers

My god some of the people on this forum are immature losers. Since when does leaving a game because of a massive amount of hacking and leaving one goodbye topic on the forums reason for being bashed by the community? You know what I hate almost as bad as hackers? people who are rude jackass's to other players. His reasons for leaving are completely legitimate and he didn't rage or say the standalone was going to be a piece of crap, he even stated he would be back for the standalone if a different anti-cheat service provider was implemented. Which is entirely reasonable. I hate hackers, I hate dying to hackers but most of all I hate how they completely disrupt the flow of the game. Which is what he is explaining in his post, it's not the death that hurts but the fact that the game itself is actually ruined by hacking, every part of the game. So with that, I will say to the OP I don't blame you for leaving, I'm staying but I understand why you chose to leave and it is a completely acceptable reason. I wish you the best in your future gaming and hope you return for the standalone. The community on this forum is the most immature, annoying, childish, community I have ever seen when it comes to hackers. See ya later, Gambles
