Hey, I'd be down to run with some people. The wasteland gets pretty lonely and i'm looking forward to a little teamwork as I get back into the game after a long absence.

My main gripe with the removal of ammo refill
Male3Dante replied to Hawk24's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Do y'all know what US military strategy is when swapping mags? When I play games, I load a fresh mag whenever the isn't an immediate target, but that's Halo/battlefield. It seems like the strategy would be to avoid reloading until the mag runs out and then put a fresh 30rnd in. Exception to this would be going into a new area with like 5 rounds or when your immediate and planned for task, like cover fire or a building assault, calls for a fresh 30rnd over a 22rnd. Yeah, it all just comes down to personal strategy and a whopping amount of experience in a firefight. Edit: It would be nice to be able to pick your mags, or move rounds from one mag to another. To balance would have to take time, just like if I were pulling bullets out of a banana clip and manually feeding them into the other one. For the "pick" you could just right click on the mag in inv and say "load .... mag". Also, I'm pretty sure that weapons like Enfield and Winny and most sidearms all ammo pool. I'm not sure though. Would be interested in seeing confirmation. -
This.

Dude, I'd love to do stuff like this. It seems like it's where the fun is :D You have my beans! I think I'll try roaming a city next time I die... which will be soon given my inability to shoot straight :)

So, he has a valid point, though I would like to point out something else. While he is securing himself against any possible backstabbing, i don't believe that purging "the entire town" for a reason like "what has to be done" are the best choice in words for garnering favor. That is what you are trying to do, right? The reason you posted on here is because you wanted to point out and justify to the community (and maybe to yourself?) your play style. I believe that if you have to justify it, it needs looking at, maybe a little soul searching. Someone said earlier that maybe the reason you shoot them is because shooting them is much harder than running through the rigamaroo of identifying their intent, helping them, or just simply letting them pass you by. You're an experienced player... you know how to hide and not draw attention to yourself... right? For me, this is where the fun would come in :) Another point would be to say that opening fire on the completely (or supposedly) unarmed might leave you vulnerable to someone else. The fella who has been playing the stealth game and is as well geared as you might have the jump on you because you're firing every few minutes in a crowded town, and he is not. Therefore would it not stand to reason that he would have the first shot, should you two meet and possibly win the day? Again, for me... You're my favorite target. Especially when i just spawned in and hopped to the first barn I could find to grab an enfield or a winny. As a final note: Why slaves? Your word choices seem very poor indeed. I wonder if maybe that's why they killed you... Why not temporary teammates that you hold at an arms length because you're not sure what they'll do? And why give them anything? Take them on whatever loot run you're on. Let them find food, weapons, whatever. Teach them the game by letting them shadow you. If you really feel uncomfortable with someone you don't know having a gun, them just avoid them. Goes back to my earlier point about why you're even shooting them in the first place. You're a top notch player. I can tell by the way you talk that you consider yourself such. You know how to avoid a fight. Walk softly, but carry a big stick. There, have at it. I'm off to lunch :D

Winchester or Lee Enfield? [POLL]
Male3Dante replied to Dawn (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Paint me Nub, but I like the Winchester for the "$#!T I missed... Oh well here's 14 more where that came from!!!" That said, after reading this discussion, I will most certainly be putting some target practice in with the enfield. PvP is my main failing point so to be able to plug somebody, cripple, KO or kill, at 400m reliably might help me out some. Another thing is that having a good sidearm like the M1911 (yeah i don't like military weps :P ) nulifies the "Dinner Bell" drawback unless you simply must fire at a player from the middle of cherno... Although, I believe that the M1911 is a little louder than other handguns. Need to check that one on the DB. Still the cheapest Zed kills around without a winchester. My thoughts. Edit: Wow! They really are tied :D -
I've only been playing for about a month now, and I haven't had a whole lot of time to go through all the weps, but I've found that I prefer civie guns. Military weps are risky to get to for me and even after you get em you have to go back later for ammo, at least reliably. I guess this is just my inexperience talking and the fact that I can't shoot for beans :) Of the weps though, I'd have to say, hands down, the M1911. Great punch, rate of fire, better mag than the revolver and easy peasy ammo :D For a primary (if I absolutely have to use one ;) ) it's a toss up between the Winchester and the Enfield, though I go Winchester everytime because it's quieter and has a mor reliable magazine size. I've also had a couple of AKMs and that is a great gun on semi auto plugging Zeds :)

This is a very sound argument and I agree. Though I do not think a group system and TK punishment is necessary or intended. I believe that when I am traveling with a group, and one of them has a different allegiance, whether to himself, or to that group ahead whose ambush he's leading my group into, we are both just playing the wasteland. He has his game or solidarity and self gain, or espionage and treachery, just as I have mine. The roles could be reversed. I'm only putting myself in this role because I haven't found the skill or desire necessary to make enemies of everyone around me. That would make for a rather difficult game, no? The punishment comes when the 'Bandit' or Teamkiller is found out, either through conversation or when he opens fire on us, and we kill or oust him or, if he is successful, write a qq thread on the forums telling people to avoid him, or find out which group he's with and go after them in game. In a game with no laws... There are no laws. Playing the wasteland. Just a thought. BTW I might have to adopt your word "Bandicktry" :D

What makes a bandit?

Do you know how long the time window is? I've been looking for this information too, and haven't been able to find anything other than the old humanity system. I've also heard that it might be hidden now, though this thread would seem to say otherwise. Thank you -
I'm a wanderer who'd love to help out. Not looking to play guard duty, but scavenging for more than just my own survival would be fun :) Count me in! Currently on vacation. Will be back after this weekend, I believe. I aspire to be a wasteland medic or doctor, so I might could help in that regard. Or I could do what i do best and scavenge food, water, odds and ends and such. I don't know where you are thinking of putting your base, but a small ( i mean really small) town in the north would be good as you could have a water spigot or even, if you dare, a supermarket, though this may attract too many people, might be a good idea. All dependent upon your intent and ability to secure yourself. I also like that you're not guaranteeing security. You're providing everyone else a service at your own cost. There's not much more anyone can ask of you :)

Looking for players to team up
Male3Dante replied to Skids (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hey, semi experienced fps here. looking to team up. I'm on east coast and normally play evening/night. When are y'all normally on? -
Now that I have plenty of medical gear, plenty of food and a large belt of tools, I am ready to start living. I will loot the school and the supermarket in Vybor and then set off east in search of a motorcycle. Along my way, I will pass just south of the southern barracks of the Northwest Airfield. This presents me with opportunity and dilemma. Should I try to find more ammunition for my Kobra? Something tells me that automatic weapons are a dangerous path. In order to keep them supplied, I must frequent the more dangerous zones. Also, they are far noisier and inspire more fear in others, others whose trust I may wish to gain. I could simply abandon this weapon, for which I have no ammunition, in favor of a civilian Winchester or Lee Enfield, whose ammunitions are more plentiful and found in more domestic locations. The alternative to both these solutions would be to search every deer stand that I can on my way east. This would either yield more ammunition for my Kobra or present me with another weapon choice. Also, I’ve heard talk of a crashed helicopter south of Vybor. While potentially dangerous, this would provide me with another option on my quest for adventure and life. I set out tomorrow, as soon as the sun rises and the zombies stop shrieking. Do they ever stop? They were quiet when I came into the town, earlier this evening. Could there be someone else here? I heard a sound out the window. I think that’s what woke me up. By my watch, it’s 2:37 in the morning. I fell asleep more than an hour after writing the first page. The sounds those things were making were horrible. They sounded almost excited. I’m surprised that I fell asleep at all. After waking and hearing the sound, I grabbed my pistol and chambered a round as quietly as I could. I waited for a minute or two and heard another sound that sounded like trash cans being knocked into; the round metal ones. Yes, I just used a semicolon. I’m grammatically conscious for sure. Even out here, where no one will ever read it but me. Actually I think that is kind of why I’m writing this. After searching the town a little, I entered this school. I believe it is a small elementary school. I found some sheaves of paper and toyed with the idea of writing a journal. I didn’t have to go far to find a couple pencils either. Eventually, I settled down to write, having nothing better to do in the growing darkness. Light was an issue, but my eyes adjusted and when it became completely dark, I used my flashlight, after making absolutely certain that the room I was in had all of its blinds drawn. Another thing about writing the journal nagged at me. I don’t know whether I’ll ever see or talk to another person again. I don’t know if there will be anyone left after I die. I don’t know whether I’ll die now, soon or later. I don’t even know whether the next person I see will shoot me for my supplies, as the people did who attacked us four five four days ago. I feel as though the rest of my possibly short life should be recorded, if only to give me the peace of mind that I will not be forgotten, though I realize that this will possibly never be read by anyone but me. Oh well. The noise I heard caused panic at first, and then caution and suspense, but nothing ever moved my heart more than when the crash of the afore mentioned trash cans were knocked over rather loudly after a few minutes. To my credit, I did not scream but only shook violently and became very, very aware of my surroundings. After the second sound, I became brave and went to the window in the direction of the sound. After I approached it, it took me a few seconds to muster the courage to pull up the blinds only an inch to peek to the ground below my second story position. After a half inch, the crash rang out into the night. Knowing that the sound would attract more zombies, I abandoned my reconnaissance efforts and crawled back to my corner and pulled my blanket around myself. I laid my weapons out in front of myself, loaded and ready. With my back in the corner, I tried sleeping. After a half hour of lying awake and hearing the occasional shuffling of a dead man outside the window, I decided I needed to do something to calm my nerves, so here I am writing this for no one to read. Another thirty minutes have passed and I’m starting to feel sleep once more. Hopefully I’ll sleep ‘til morning. We’ll see. These two journal pages were found on a fresh body in the southern barracks at NWAF...

IRL Information Name: Jerry (Dante) Age: 20 Location: South East USA Timezone: Eastern Do you meet ALL the requirements? If not, which ones are you missing and why?: Game Information IGN: Steam ID (if applicable): Male3Dante Desired group role (Medic, sniper, spotter, etc): Medic, Scavenger Why you would like to join? What interested you about us? (min. 4 sentences): I am sort of new to DayZ, and one thing that I have noticed, is that it's very hard to get anywhere without someone to cooperate with. I am looking for a solid group to work with. I am fine being out in the wilderness, or with more practice scavenging in the cities. I would also like to be a medic for a squad or encampment. Also, what intrigues me is being part of a community that announces it's place of refuge to the entirety of the forums and still is safe and secure because they are so well thought out and defended. That's too cool! I look forward to seeing how far this group can go in establishing an order in the wastes. What skills / perks can you offer to [GMS]?: Long time, mature gamer. I get mechanics really well. games are more numbers and triggers to me than they are graphics and senses. just me idk. Also, I can keep a cool head in a tense situation. Thank you for your time and consideration :)
