Date/Time: 6pm (+8GMT) 23/5/12 What happened: Blood level is not saving when I log back in (keeps reseting to ~3500), although gear and location IS saved. Where you were: NW area of the map. What you were doing: Server has crashed a few times, otherwise nothing special. Current installed version: 1.5.8.2 Server(s) you were on: ANZ7 Timeline of events before/after error: Got attacked by zombies last night, dropped my blood down to 3.5k before I could bandage myself. Despite eating huge stacks of meat several times, every time I log back in my blood level is 3.5k. This happened last night as well as today. I have been on the ANZ7 server the whole time. PS. if this is a duplicate thread it's only because this is my second time submitting it, it didn't seem to work before.

I thought the recent patches were supposed to fix tents? I finally found one, and I have tried repeatedly to place it, I can't work out what the hell is wrong with it. All I get is the message about placing it on flat ground not near objects, but I still can't place the damn things in the middle of a large, perfectly flat clearing, it's ridiculous. Has anyone had any luck with this? What am I doing wrong?

I think that the UH-1H is a pretty inappropriate choose of helicopter for dayz. I think the MH-6J would be much more appropriate, perhaps with a civilian reskin. 1) It has no guns. The machineguns on the UH-1H make it a silly, overpowered toy that encourage people to mindlessly gun down other players. They add very little and detract a lot. 2) It's more open. People riding on the bench seats are much much more exposed than they would be in the UH-1H. This balances the speed somewhat, with the risk of being shot at. 3) It's smaller. This not only means it can land with considerably less space, it also means it's a lot easier to hide. 4) I personally think it's a lot easier to fly. It's lighter, more responsive, and a lot more forgiving when it comes time to land. That's great news for people who haven't loved flight simulators in the past. And most importantly: 5) You can do this: (some modification required).

Lol, that video is great. I wouldn't want to try any of that without a joystick though :| 6m off the ground and flying under powerlines is shaving it a bit close if you ask me.

Increasing the amount of player skins

First of all, it seems bleedingly obvious to me that rocket plans to add more skins. But if we're taking suggestions, I dearly want more straight up civilian skins. Infact I'd rather the default skin be some random civilian skin than the PMC one. Personally I'd really like to get one of the Rocker skins from ArmA2. -
All those crashed UH-1Ys you find crashed around the map are american helicopters, and I'm not sure you're going to find that many empty bottles of JD in russia, so I don't think inclusions are based entirely on what's russian and what's not. Afterall how many 1866 winchester rifles are you going to find in eastern europe, really? I think the huey has to go, or atleast the variant with MGs. If it has to be russian, there are plenty of russian helis. Some of them don't have guns either.

I wouldn't mind the huey so much if it didn't have the guns on it. I think the MH-6J would be a fun alternative, and with a reskin it could be made to look like a news helicopter or something.

A new loot/zombie spawning system in towns and villages?

I like this suggestion. I like the idea of zombies slowly recuperating over time, rather than all at once, and I like the idea of loot taking time to recover aswell. Obviously they don't have to be linked, someone could go through a town and take nothing, or kill half the zombies and get taken out by the other half, but I think it would make the world more dynamic and immersive. It'd also stop people hanging around in one spot and encourage them to explore, and give people a breather when they have just cleared out a town. Fantastic suggestion, best I've seen in days. I really hope rocket takes notice of this. -

Bandit skins meant nothing before, it was far too easy to get one for no real reason, and just as easy to lose it again. A pair of bandits with bloodpacks could just heal each other back to survivorhood. At best it was an illusion to comfort carebears, at worst it gave people a license to kill. How can you tell who has murdered? You can't. Not in real life, not in any system in DayZ. You can perhaps tell if they've killed, but I think making that information is probably more harmful than useful. Besides which, the assumption that the chance I will shoot any given person is the same is false. The noob fresh off the beach with the makarov does not have the same chance of being shot by me as the two guys with fancy military gear, or the asshats refusing to bandage me and waiting for me to bleed to death. Also, if you've shot me in the past I'm far more likely to shoot you than if I've never seen you before. -

How are you supposed to loot a downed heli? I've seen tonnes of them, never been able to loot them. Is the loot supposed to be lying around it, or are you supposed to get into it, or what? -

I'm not sure where to ask this, so if it's the wrong place please move it. I read rockets post saying if you needed a relife you should email the dayzdevteam thingo, but I couldn't find an actual email. Maybe I'm just dumb. Anyway I've been trying to get in all day with no success, nothing but "Waiting for server response" until I get kicked. At one point I rolled back to the 1.5.8.2 update to try to play on a non-updated server, just so I could play with my friends, and that worked, but it must have corrupted my save because when I tried to log back in again after a crash, I wound up in the debug forest. I tried loading different servers, and restarts, and re-updating, nothing worked. In the end I tried to respawn just to get out of there, but I've lost all my stuff, which I guess I should have figured would happen but I've never used the respawn button before. So yeah, if someone could point me in the right direction for a relife that'd be great, I'm too tired to play now, and I just want to start back where I should be with my mates again tomorrow. Even just having my gear would be nice. Oh and my primary weapon was an AKM.

I'd love to see like a .22LR rifle, in scoped and unscoped variants, both of which can take a few different kinds of .22LR mag, like 5 rnd, 10 rnd, and 30 rnd hi cap. Works wonderfully on the survivor vs player axis. Great vs zombies, horrible vs players, so there is implicit balance. It seems all the civvy longarms atm are quite loud, excluding the crossbow. -
A while later I used a bloodpack to get back to full blood, and the server crashed. When it came back I was on full health again, so it seems to have resolved itself.

I like to imagine that when the virus first became pandemic, and panic gripped the population, they probably looted everything they could find and horded it.

Realistic Temperature Suggestion Thread

Tonight I was doing laps of a clearing with one friend while waiting on another, trying to keep warm. It didn't seem to help much, honestly. We made a fire but it did take a good long time to warm up. I wouldn't mind it taking that long to warm up, if temperature didn't drop so quickly. -
I'd like to suggest that instead of food acting like an instant healthpack ala Q3 or similar, eating requires a short wait of 10-20 seconds, during which time you must sit, and the blood is restored gradually over that period. Additionally, tinned food could be "used" near a campfire with an additional menu option, which would trigger the same sitting animation, but restore heat as well as blood. I'm pretty sure this would be possible since steaks already have a context sensitive menu option relating to camp fires, and bandaging triggers an animation. You could make it possible to interrupt the sitting and eating animation, but you would lose your beans without any further blood gain.

Well obviously not, but that doesn't meant the feature should be removed outright. Tone back, for sure, but you can only find the correct level by getting it wrong first. I think the temperature feature is very promising, and I'm sure a lot of people agree with me. -

Sprinting raises your temperature, but obviously you can only do that in very short bursts, so it's not very useful. Running doesn't seem to do it, or atleast not as effectively. -

One word: Alpha. It takes time to fully implement a feature. If it bothers you, you can come back in a week or two, and it'll have changed. Also it was suggested elsewhere that being indoors should freeze your tempval score, which I thought was quite elegant really. On hot days, the house keeps you in shade, on cold nights, it insulates you, it keeps you out of the rain. It makes perfect sense. -
And what would be the purpose of this change? It's not like you can't get military loot elsewhere. The ease of getting loot at the NW airport, also makes it a very dangerous place to be. It balances itself out, risk vs reward. PS. In case you didn't realise, military loot can also be acquired at fire stations, hangars, deer stands, and the small military base at Stary Sobor.

You do understand what an alpha is right? It's the stage of development where you add new features to see how they work, and you adapt and tweak them. It's not supposed to work first time, every time. Infact you're supposed to go to deliberate extremes, just to find the edges of what's possible. Everyone knows temperature is broken right now, but it's not like you fall over and die when tempval hits 0. So tough it out, or come back next week. -

You know that's not true right? 0 Kelvin is absolute zero, which is something like -459 degrees fahrenheit. The rankine scale is the fahrenheit equivalent of the kelvin scale.
