Just to give you a brief hint: Rocket Quote: "This game was never meant to be fun. It is meant to be a hard, frustrating game. I don't see the point that a Game has to be entertaining by creating fun moments" Therefore I would probably say given his opinion. The fact he states it is a simulation, as good as Arma2 Engine allows at the current moment, Plus the fact he said he wants to buff the Zombies to be extremely deadly... Better buy WarZ because this Game will suck for you... a lot... -

Realism? Okay I'll expand your idea: Running with approximately 10 miles per hour makes you quite fast and especially at that speed you encounter a barbed wire the chance of a fatal injury are high: The barbed wire is designed to caused cuts and injuries (the more speed you have the deeper it will sink in) In addition to that the leg has many very vulnerable arteries and veins, which would make the likeliness of a ripped/cut main blood circuit quite hight. Assumed, the Post-Apocalyptic Scenario no doctors would be around to patch the player up, therefore the person would bleed to death. Back to Topic: Disagree. This is Game is about Zombies Versus Players, PVP is part but NOT main aspect. It would buff lazy camping, sitting around for the next player kill. So it wouldn't contribute anything to the original game idea. -

Cheater - The Aftermath - Where can I find the traces?

We just had to shut down our server as we had cheaters on our servers and we would like to contribute a few names for the banlist but we are not familiar with the logs and would need some advice on locating the traces in the log: What happened exactly? We were looting the factory close to Polana as we heard out of the sudden a helicopter and we saw how it dropped a little down ( as if spawned in mid-air) and began to circle around us. We began to open fire and several players with the vehicles with bullets. I myself spent 5 x 30 Bullets on the helicopter. The sparks were raining from the helicopter's hull and we saw fuel leaking but it didn't blow up. So far no big deal. Next the helicopter landed on top of the factory and one dude left the vehicle. During the landing a sharp shooter of hours had the pilot hit. He bleed like hell the pilot should have been dead ( He used a M107 ) but as the person was still alive and rolling on the ground as to mock my teammates who shoot him. I heard bullets everywhere and they hit him. He bleed and bleed but didn't die. They went down the stairs a little bit but suddenly a second one was spawning next to him. Also invincble. We retreated as we depleted our ammunition. The sharpshooter suddenly saw the person looking at him and then we heard how he reported that someone was next to him. So an obviously teleported player. That's what happened but we need to find the trace... This is not a good idea and the answer is pretty simple why: This game is designed and meant to be a game about survival in an apocalyptic world. Zombies are Enemies and AI controlled for a reason. It is NOT supposed to be a copy of L4D If you turn into a zombie you failed your mission, which is survival and therefore you start over. And I am 100% sure that Rocket will not even think one second about implementing that feature. -
Wanted to say the same. It is realistic but you are taking the wrong approach therefore you run into a "logical" Deadend. You need to see the city not as a copy of one without people, you need to keep in mind fleeing, fights, etc which is all done / passed now. So, no rec.

Definitely realistic as a flare burns at 2000°C. Starting a fire with it is definitely possible. + 1

I was spending a few hours to come up with a few things that are improving the gameplay. Will add a few nice features and for sure make sense ( we are not talking about unrealistic Changes which will make the initial idea of a realistic survival game ridiculous). 1) Ropes for the Helicopter: We don't need to argue about the realism in this one since it is a basic tactic everyone knows about. So let's focus on the improvement for the game: a ) Rescue Survivors without having to land to give them assistance We have been all in a situation where we are on a roof or somewhere else far off a helicopter suited landing site therefore it would be great to be able to rescue players with the rope out of the situation or make people descend to the person's assistance. b ) Improved Looting The hit and run looting which is probably the safest can be brought to perfection. Send a scout in, then bring in the guys, grab stuff and get out of there. c ) Ensuring a helicopter's safety As the helicopter as to fly in for a moment and is off again it reduces the chance for a loss which is a hard thing to swallow at times ( Again, Helicopters are Gear, so do not get attached to it anyhow). A landed Helicopter is a very easy target... Balance: Ropes are a rare to very rare spawn, have to be attached to a helicopter and cannot be dismounted. Plus maybe a maximum of usage after which the rope is "destroyed" 2) Teamwork for Repairs I know this has been suggested before but I wanted to add some substance to it. First of all it is not realistic that one man can change or repair the Engine of a Bus or any other vehicle in no time without any help. I have come up with two ways to solve this: a) Duration The repair could take five minutes when attempted alone. For each player that joins in the time could be lowered by 30% which is fair enough and would contribute to teamplay and prevent player's from repairing a shot vehicle too fast making it more realistic and fair for the players who do not have a vehicle b ) Teamwork The repair would only be able by two or more players. Attempting it alone will result in a failure and therefore is impossible this is a good way to force the players to team up. The looting of cars will be done but they cannot be used that well against other players unless they team up. 3) Locking vehicles We all know that vehicles can be locked and therefore cannot be taken nor raided by everyone. My suggestion to achieve this is that it requires a crowbar to break into the trunk(storage) of a vehicle. It would make more realistic again plus we would have a reason to pick up the crowbar and yet the player who carries it is vulnerable so teaming up is required as well ( unless you find an abandoned vehicle) 4) Shooting out of Vehicles (Mainly Bus etc) I am sure we all miss that feature since it is the most common thing when fired upon that one would fire back which forces the owner of a vehicle into a though decision. Step out and fight or try to flee. I personally would prefer the ability to shoot while driving ( we all know the chance to hit during a full speed drive is so damn low) but it would force the attackers to keep their distance, Enabling an escape (not to mention PVP Vehicle Fights) That's all I got for now. cannot respawn even with broken leg?

In DayZ quite unlikely, you can roll off a rock and probably bleed from that. Dying should be easy. The real problem is that you cannot hit respawn, better form a ticket and report the bug. -
I am not sure if you are aware that anyone that even bothers to answer, will probably shoot you? (Assumed you do not have the same intention...) So better search for one on your own.

There are several problems you are addressing in this "Thread" ( those are already discussed in other places as well). First the Pistol Nerf: It was done by Bohemia, nuff said they patched the Nerf in with a new Beta Patch ( I don't know the exact Version they did ) but it has nothing to do with DayZ. Second Problem: Alt + F4 This problem is already known and it is hated for a reason. It will be addressed for sure and a log-out timer is planned or at least considered as well. Which will keep those cowards from leaving because shots are fired upon them. So, sit back, grind your teeth and hit respawn. -
I was wondering if there could be more "passive" Weapons in the game like bear-traps. Maybe mines, improvised explosive Devices or even simpler, bend branches, breaking someone's bones and such things. It is not only for PVP it could be used for hunting as well, or maybe some traps could be used to guard positions to keep them Zed free. What do you think about such an approach?

I had about the same Idea. Use the Humvee wreckages and a few crates, to create something along the line of a Helicopter crashsite but on the roads. The could be heavily guarded 40+ Zeds. Which is rather high end game, make them unable to be raided without teammates. Plus there will be gunshots and it will be a good thing to reward teamplay.

Okay Guys, for those who have installed the correct patch (95389): I took the updated http://www.dayzmod.c...2.4-Weapons.zip It didn't work. I found out why it didn't work for my part: My battle eye was still 1.65 but its 1.66 the update needs to be done, clicking Join too fast will abort the update and cause ( at least was in my case ) the Loading Stuck
