    If you read some interviews with him he was offered shitloads of money at E3 but turned it down. Money is NOT the issue here. The issue is inflated egos and control freakery.

    Funny how all these Lingor threads get stifled locked and moved by "just doing my job guv" forums admins and moderators. How sad. Its like they have their heads in the sand. Lets just make this clear - Rocket stole much of the ideas and mechanics for Dayz from other modders. He borrowed them, stole, was influenced by whatever. All of these features have existed before rocket came along; zombies in arma, persistent character states aka a HIVE in arma, banading and medical mechanics, looting, pvp, player building (tents) etc etc etc etc. He was clever to hobble it all together is all. My feeling is that rocket is not even a very good coder - just a gut feeling and no disrespect as he is a great presenter and marketer. Now - considering all this is derivative - to say no you cannot mention Lingor Dayz and its not official and it shouldn't be in the general forums and you thou shall not mod the dayz mode files... well, what a load of baloney. Its a better iteration of the mod - its better supported, safer, less hackers. Its awesome. To deny it is folly. To lock threads and try and stifle discussion is Orwellian and pointless. There, I have said my bit. Chill out masherators.

    Its all totally separate. Different shortcuts are created to run a separate copy of the game. You cannot use the same mods so have to restart different flavours of arma to play the 2 different maps. Lingor is far better IMHO. Its completely not related. You need 2 new addon folders and a copy of your shortcut specifying only the 2 new mods.     yeah blame the admins. It's all their fault. Don't agg zed. Don't blame others. Learn how to lose zed. Get a map - its 45 mins max from cherno to berezino. Go find a industrial loot spawn and find a toolbox - then you can remove the barbed wire from buildings yourself. Or hop to another server. Every minute in DayZ is 'wasted' just enjoy it.

    rocket mentioned an out-of-game or in game leaderboard stats BF3 battlelog type deal. If you can somehow identify yourself to players in game - that player who was the beneficiary of a good Samaritan could go on the player stats page and beans up the guy who did not shoot him. Especially if it only took a few clicks. It would be nice if when you get near a player you can see some kind of subtle rating for them. As if they had a little st Christopher cross around their neck in real life- you would not see it far away but up close it might give you an indicator the guy is good or some nasty tattoo or murderous eyes monobrow or something might tell you he's bad. We need that dynamic in the game. You can just tell in real life for some people if they are good or bad. Others it is a lot more ambiguous for...

    Playing Dayz Lingor is a whole new game to me. And much better I think. More vehicles, less buggy, very few skriptdiddies, loot everywhere and more frequent and more thrilling player encounters. Find a dead body every 100m lol - its less about the zed and the loot and more about doing stuff, exploring a whole new island and for me the PvP.

  18. Its not hard!!! Go to dayzlingor.dk and follow the instructions. Its one torrent file you download. Inside are two folders. Put the folders inside your arma dir. Make a copy your shortcut to dayz and modify it so the mod folders dont say @dayz but the other 2 folders instead; e.g. @dayz_lingor;@dayz_lingor_island If you are using sixupdater well then you are doomed - either figure out how to make your own shortcut (read the page linked above) or go back to your eggbox360
  19. I highly recommend you all try the Lingor flavour of DayZ. I have played cherno dayz for 3+ months now - 100's of hours. Some boring and some so heart pumping i am sure i have shortened my lifespan (and have played ARMA1/2 OFP for years and years) and while i was tiring (mainly due to the groups i played with drifting away and me getting lonely) I have moved to Lingor and am addicted all over again. Intense PvP, vehicles galore, much less script abusers, crazy map that is smaller but more richly drawn, more challenging player skills (vets?) its awesome.
  20. But I don't think your thread had any point in the first place! Am I right guys? It's QQ. They added dog content and bandit headscarves in the last update. After the standalone was announced. And they fixed the dead soldier graphic glitch. What more do you want from a free experimental mod??
  21. @ SKuDD3r Microshafted could not develop their way out of a paper bag! Your links only go against your own argument. This is pedantically and semantically circular. Lets say you are right for the purposes of brevity... In your original post you say you are losing the impetus to play it. I should imagine this is also in the lead dev's plan. It was not designed at this point to have re-playability. Try something else and come back later. or hack back. Or just run round cherno blasting Bobby McFerrin over DC and be an axe magnet.
  22. Well i disagree. I think you are wrong. To quote wikipaedia - which is often wrong and not the bible on everything but I rather trust its peer reviewed description over your fat assertions... "The alpha phase usually ends with a feature freeze, indicating that no more features will be added to the software. At this time, the software is said to be feature complete." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Alpha Notice the word "ends". So how do you explain that QQer?
  23. You have missed the point. It might have been mentioned before somewhere(?) but its in an ALPHA stage of development. That means it is not in bug fix mode. It is not in standalone development mode. The whole thing is alpha - that means more game mechanics to be applied, more new things like dogs and player bunkers etc. All before bugs are fixed and before it is ported to a new map/engine. So go away and come back in a month when it will feel like new again because everyone will be using pogosticks and tazers and they didn't have those when you were getting bored...

    Try this open cmd. If you dont know how to do this google it. (jeez) then try these two lines each followed by enter (the Enter key). (this is for steam version but im sure you can figure out what your path is if you have the DVD version...) cd /D "c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead" (this makes your working directory the correct one) "c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -noSplash -noFilePatching -showScriptErrors "-name=YOURPROFILENAME" "-mod=C:\Program files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2;expansion;expansion\beta;expansion\beta\expansion;@DayZ" (this one long line above runs the game) Its that simple. The beta version of arma2oa.exe does not require steam to be running. So ignore steam. Likewise shitupdater. If that works then create a batch file on your desktop (dayz.bat) edit it and paste these lines in. Save it and use that to run arma dayz. Do manual file copies for dayz updates. Run the installer for beta patches. Beta patches from: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php /sigh
