An Idea that will make this game much more realistic and tactical
OmarFW replied to ericdude88's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
+1 I want to poop in DayZ. Just think about how that could spice up bandit kills. -

No. Becoming a bandit isn't always your fault. A heartbeat would become annoying when playing with teammates who are bandits. -

Let's make a couple of things clear. If you have no friends or organized group to play with, your chances of finding a stranger in-game who wants to legitimately cooperate with you are very slim. Don't complain if you gamble against the odds and lose. It's your fault. This is a survival game and therefore you are prey to everyone else, not their friend. If you lack a group to play with but don't like playing by yourself and don't like participating in the cherno/elektro bean wars, perhaps this isn't the game for you. It isn't hard to find communities with teamspeak servers who play together though. You just have to put in some effort. Perhaps if the direct communication is ever fixed, it will be easier to recruit some temporary allies, but for now, trust nobody. It's not like you haven't been told that repeatedly already. With that being said, I actually do support spawns being taken out of cherno and elektro and moved away from them. They are treasure troves for resources, but being killed by someone who got a lucky spawn nearby you is really cheap. -

ArmA 2 is a game that is more reliant on hard drive and CPU speeds than GPU. If you don't have a slow hard drive you will get low performance regardless of the speed of your GPU.

Screw it. Give bandits satan skins and friendlies jesus skins as long as we're all suggesting bad ideas. lol

DayZ Server Auto Restart - Multiple Methods - **Version 3.3.1

Thank you so much for making this and releasing it publicly. You're saving many admins a lot of headache. -
Punishing someone for playing as a bandit would be a bad idea. However, I think it would be viable to have something you lose as a bandit while you gain something else that caters to that role more. On the flip side, if you choose to play as a friendly, you gain something in return but lack what the bandit has. I don't know what those things would be, but that's the general concept. There needs to be incentive to play a certain way and continue playing that way. Currently it doesn't make much since to NOT play as a bandit unless you have a giant group of teammates.

Random Performance drop since latest patch (60% less fps)
OmarFW replied to cat (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
ArmA 2 is a very CPU heavy and framerates are mostly decided by your CPU power, not your GPU power. (though both matter.) The leading cause of low fps in Day Z would be the zombie AI, not anything graphical. -
I vote yes. Some other indication of a bandit should be added, but one that isn't permanent or as obvious visually. I also support the idea of selectable skins. It would make people easier to identify once you've already encountered them.

Daytime servers are always overloaded.
OmarFW replied to DaPessimist's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Both the day and night have awesome and different gameplay, but the day time is without a doubt more popular and causing unbalanced server population. Night time could stay exactly the way it is if it were just made shorter. Like others have said, the realistic day night cycles are not a form of realism I care to have in a game. I like to stay up till 2am usually playing games. With the current setup, if I were to play Day Z everyday on my normal schedule, I only get about an hour of sunlight before the night comes on. Then it's night for the rest of the night. I shouldn't be forced to play a game at a certain time of the day just to be able to play it in the daylight on servers where my ping doesn't suck. I don't hate the nighttime, but you DO have to play with gamma up to see anything since there aren't enough light sources in the game to play without it. Overall it's just not how I would prefer to play the game most of the time. Compressing the day night cycles to even half the time they are now would be great. It's not like we're asking for the moon to be rocketing across the sky like it's f***ing minecraft. Just the option to play in the daytime on a local server even if it might not be daytime in rl at the time. Players who hate night probably wouldn't hate it so much then and they wouldn't be driven onto other servers causing massive regular shifts of server population from US to EU back and forth every day. Whatever the case, the current system is causing problems and things need to change.
