    Sixth Sense

I don't mean it as a slam, but why is this needed? Do you want to be able to know when it's ok to relax? The main joy of this game for me is the deep seated paranoia that has begun to set in on me when I'm playing. When I'm in game, I'm constantly moving as though someone's trying to line me up for a shot, because they could be at any time. IMO it's one of the better things about the game.

    PvE DayZ servers petition.

I am asking not out of any particular desire to defend Rocket, but more out of selfish desire to find more good games to play... Are there other open world zombie survival games that offer more than 32 players per server, have open PVP, and require you to scrounge for gear?
  3. The other day, I was noobing my way around on the coast and happened upon a bicycle. Being the first vehicle I'd ever seen, I naturally leapt onto it and proceeded to make my way up and down the road, Queen playing in the background, having a grand old time as the zombies chased me around. ...Do bikes require repairs, or is there a button I was missing? I was barely able to get it up to running speed on pavement and it took forever to accelerate. Is that just how they work, or was I missing something?
  4. Wait, what? I'd be really curious to hear why that is.Secondly, this game is a cut above just about every other FPS out there. At least it models bullet drop.

    PvE DayZ servers petition.

Yes! Please! Let someone who wants to make the bestest PVE zombie game ever make it! Let someone who wants to make the standard formulaic game make the standard formulaic game. That way the people who like this can have it, and the people who want a normal PVE shooter can have it, and everybody can be happy. Excellent suggestion!

    Graphical Issues

Disabling AA seemed to completely cure it on my system. Haven't seen an artifact in 2 days. Maybe I'm just lucky.
  7. Did it? I disagree. The purpose is to survive both the zombies and the other people in the area. The fact that you have to take into account both the (relatively stupid and shortsighted) zombies and the fact that you might have someone lining up on you from cover makes the gameplay much more interesting. If all you had to worry about was zombies, it would be a simple matter of belly crawling everywhere you go near towns, and not having to worry about lines of sight, cover, and ability to retaliate. It does feel like The Road, and I love that feeling. This is the only game I know of offhand that's like that, and I am glad that Rocket seems to want to keep it that way. I can't wait to see what this is like when it's polished.

    Optional PVP

That's all swell, but now you've got to balance for PvP and PvE, pretty much doubling the workload involved because they're effectively two separate games. Either you've got two separate games, or one of the sides will suffer because of design decisions made for the other side. History has proven this out. Far better IMO to leave it as one game. The gaming world is chock full of PvE games. Why must they all be that way?
  9. Why? If you're logging off in an unsafe area, that's your choice if it bites you in the ass. Stick around to be able to defend yourself if need be, but any motion/action would abort the logout.
  10. I'm not in favor of that, as it would be used as a detection capability. Why not just a 1 or 2 minute logout delay regardless of what's going on/near you? You can exit, but your character stays where they are for the amount of time.

    Graphical Issues

I have seen the artifacts as well. In my case, I think it was the dead military guys causing it, although there may have been some barb wire in the line of sight I noticed it at. They seemed to be in the correct direction when I walked over to them after disabling AA. I'm running an ATI 5770, and after disabling AA, I played the rest of the evening with no artifacts at all. YMMV.

New player - Save issue - help?

Idle curiosity- What is the 'save timer' length? I wish to avoid painful gear loss issues.

    Key bindings

Hey all. I just picked up ArmA for this, and have been finding new and interesting ways to die since Wednesday. Got a bit of an odd issue, and am wondering about either fixing it or doing some kind of workaround if need be. I have a 4 button mouse. While I was downloading Day Z I was going through boot camp on ArmA to get my head wrapped around the control scheme, making tweaks to the button settings as I went. I got everything working how I wanted it in Boot Camp. I didn't like reaching for Enter as often as I found myself doing it, so I put that binding (default action? Something along those lines. What you default hit the normal 'enter' button for) on mouse button 4. It worked beautifully. I downloaded Day Z and logged in, and immediately noticed that button isn't working anymore. I went into the controls part of the game running Day Z, the binding is gone. Here's the odd part- I tried to bind it, the button does nothing. I press it, like I've been doing all along changing the bindings I've changed, it doesn't recognize it. I go back into a Boot Camp mission, works fine. Any ideas? Any file I can edit manually to add the mapping? Is it a distinction between single and multiplayer using different config files or somesuch?
