How much revenue has Dayz pulled in for Bohemia Interactive Studio?
Jarnis replied to Flurf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That is probably a high estimate, ignores existing owners of Arma II and only includes revenue - it is all gravy only after all the bills are paid. Still, I'm guessing Bohemia has pulled several millions (perhaps even over 10 million) of revenue from people who exclusively bought Arma II to play DayZ. That is a significant chunk of money. -

That kind of deal happens only if the publisher (in this case EA) pays a huge advance - probably tens of millions - and applies only until that advance is "paid back". In the case of Amalur, it never sold enough to pay back the massive advance they got so almost everything went to EA, EA still took a loss and as for 38 studios, well... -
My new strategy for playing DayZ!

Quiet. I want to loot Berzino in peace. Keep the masses away. -
It also means that either you are dupe-tent supplied and running around with oneshot weapons with infinite ammo (go DMR mag split bug...) or you are scraping by with Lee Enfield or Winchester and still often very low on ammo (good for the survival gameplay, not so much when trying to defend yourself against duping players), mostly because pistol ammo is effectively now worthless vs. Z and I'd dump it if hatchet could go in sidearm slot.. Only practical way to up-gear is to hunt for heli spawns and clear them after spending forever to verify that you are not going to get sniped (all fixed military gear spots are often camped by people who no longer have no real reason to enter them because hey, infinite ammo and duped gear)

Confirming this. Stary Sobor is usually a tad risky - mostly because you can run into others looting the place. However, since the update I've run into camping snipers around that place on three different servers (got away twice because they were terrible shots, died the third time. Must've been lucky or skilled. I'm placing my bets on "luck" but ended up too dead to verify). Only afterwards I realized that in addition to having some juicy military tents, there is a helicopter spawn point there... Avoiding the place like plague for now.

Server admins who want to farm in peace with their friends. Abuse will continue until DayZ devs will step in and blacklist the servers.

My Friend Was Global Banned Why?
Jarnis replied to FearTheRainbow's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
13... *check* Barely literate... *check* Is mad... *check* Sounds like your average script kiddie hacker to me. In any case, posting here does nothing. As others already explained in this thread, this is a BattleEye ban. Not done by DayZ devs. Can't be reverted by DayZ devs. GO HERE: http://www.battleye.com/support.html Quoting their text so you can save some time... In short, most likely you cheated and in order to play again you need to re-buy Arma II. Enjoy your educational experience. -
You are doing it wrong. Nothing can justify hacking. People like you make online multiplayer games generally shit.

Graphics corruption; Hold left shift, press numpad "-", release both, type "flush" on the keyboard... sometimes clears it up.

DayZ Gameplay Tutorial - Beginner Guide with Tips - Stealth, Nighttime, Daytime

Hey, it even demonstrates what happens if you just randomly prance around in open field, fire a loud gun (Lee Einfield) and hang around too long... (spoiler: it involves a bullet from a sniper) -
How much revenue has Dayz pulled in for Bohemia Interactive Studio?

It is pretty well known that usually Steam takes 30% of the retail price. Sure, they may have special negotiated deals with some publishers/developers, but the for vast majority of games the cut is reportedly 30%. So if a game sells for $20, steam takes $6 and publisher/developer gets $14. I can't recall what the Arma II Combined Ops price is on Steam but I would guess that Bohemia would be getting $14 or more per copy. Feel free to check and do your own math. Boxed copies are much worse. Retailers and distributors take a much larger slice there. After factoring that and the price of manufacturing and shipping physical boxes, a developer rarely sees even 30% of the retail price (depends really a lot on the publishing deal, retail boxes are almost never self-published by the developer). So Steam is much much better in this regard. Other digital distribution platforms are reportedly fairly close to Steam as far as the cut is concerned. So something like 25%-30% of the price. Naturally when publisher/developer does direct sales, that's 100% groovy for them (minus the costs of billing and running a store - neither is actually free). Feel free to go and perform some guessimates... my wild guess would be "millions of dollars". Of course it wasn't free to develop Arma II so this is revenue, not profit. -
AFAIK the vehicles spawn randomly to those spots when server is brand new. However, if someone repairs one and takes it to some far-away hidden spot, that vehicle is "reserved" as he saves it and there is only X amount of vehicles per type on a single server. So it is not impossible that every possible vehicle is already "taken" and hidden away somewhere as "tent on wheels", so to speak. So spawn locations would turn up empty until someone manages to wreck one of the existing vehicles (or it stays untouched for long enough to "rot" and respawn elsewhere) So the only way to get a vehicle would be to scour the countryside for those hidden campsites and "liberate" one... I'm fairly new at this so I may be mistaken but this is how I understand the situation.

Confirming this. Of course now that I'm patched I notice that almost no server is running it yet :D
