Streamers make Day Z SA look like so much action happens.
DarkwaveDomina replied to KindsirCTHG's topic in General Discussion
It's because they have multiple backup characters already geared up, often by dodgy means, and they stay where the action is. -
What are the most popular VoIP programs for DayZ?
DarkwaveDomina replied to tatchell (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The volume is fine for me, my problem is the actual sound quality. I find it really poor. I also still won't use it to run around with my friends as long as it's still, effectively, shouting to everybody in the area. If they added some useful hand signals or a 'whisper mode' for the in-game direct communication I would use it, my friends would too as we have discussed this before. If the system worked more like that, instead of shouting over a large distance, it would be as natural to us as our footsteps being audible and it would add to the immersion. I am sure many players feel this way. -
The Public Hive- Am I the only person who likes it?
DarkwaveDomina replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
In the mod I preferred private vanilla (with the exception of maps) hives. I like the public hive too, but I feel more immersed when I realise my character is limited to one server and the loot it provides, as well as private hive servers fostering their own tight-knit communities. -

DarkwaveDomina replied to tatchell (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Personally, my friends and I use TeamSpeak. The free server software is simple to set up and uses practically no bandwidth despite offering very high quality audio, it actually likes my audio hardware (unlike Mumble), and it doesn't suffer from huge delays like some other alternatives. We used to use Steam despite the massive delays, we gave up when we kept losing comms due to Steam dropping connecton. You'd have a point if DayZ had decent in-game communication. The current system has horrible quality and I won't use it as my primay method of comms until there's a simple whisper mode or hand singnals implemented, because as it stands now everything you broadcast is essentially SHOUTING. -
What clothing set/weapons would you add if you could?

Too much 'Murica in this thread. -
There already is a player controlled currency, every item in the game that has any use.

Poll: Are you happy with update news/management?
DarkwaveDomina replied to Ugly (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
It's not long since I expressed how I feel about the lack of communication, especially regarding patch notes for experimental. There's just no excuse for that, some of us want to make a serious effort to test but we don't know what we should be testing. I love the game and appreciate the devs, but I don't think they care much about exp. branch and should probably scrap it entirely. This is an alpha, just treat stable as experimental and be done with it instead of axing all the servers and not bothering to post patch notes. -
Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251
DarkwaveDomina replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
That's nice but I know for a fact that I, for example, am not the only one who can't be bothered using the experimental branch or using the bug tracker any more. Why is that? Because we don't even know what we're supposed to be testing. I don't remember the last time I saw a patch note for the experimental branch, and this combined with the axing of almost all the servers means they might as well do away with experimental entirely and focus on stable branch. You might not care, plenty of us do. We have all contributed money to this project and plenty of us want to help it achieve some remote semblance of its potential, because we want to actually still be here to play it when it's done. You don't care about the dissemination of info, apparently the devs don't either, and it sends a poor message. -
Really? You're going to resort to criminal harassment because somebody shot your pixels in a video game? This is why kids should not play grown-up games without parental supervision, they throw their toys out of their pram way too hard when they lose and it can affect their self esteem.

Do you like that rubberbanding? Server chooses your position not your client
DarkwaveDomina replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Around buildings and fences rubberbands me seemingly as much as exiting buildings. I hate having to run around the end of a concrete wall three or four times. :( -

My friends and I have a similar situation, one of us is on a way worse connection than mine (an ADSL connection with the same ISP, only 30 miles from me) and rarely gets teleported around. I can assure you my connection is fine, there's no noise on the line and my speedtests and pingtests all check out, no packet loss or anything. I'm just holding out for hope that guaranteed messaging will help. -

DarkwaveDomina replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I have tried with and without and I often get teleported back 15-20ft. Only when around other players though, as far as I can tell. -

DarkwaveDomina replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I don't think it's that, I'm on fibre and I get like 20ms ping to most servers I use. I do run a TS3 server simultaneously, but only for a couple of people averaging 5KB/s each. Whatever they have changed I am hoping the guaranteed messaging alleviates it. -

This is my experience too, though for me it is much worse since the last update on stable (and when this patch was on experimental). I am constantly teleported back fifteen or twenty feet, often inside buildings (often upstairs). Last night I was hiding in some bushes with a couple of friends while I went AFK, and while AFK my character apparently teleported in to the middle of a road just waiting to get killed. -
According to Rocket's presentation at Rezzed, vehicles are due to be brought in around Q3 (please correct me if I'm wrong, I think it was Q3) of this year. I can wait that long if it would possibly mean taking man hours away from working on things like survival and optimisation. It's not even that long now, we're already in Q2 of the calendar year.

I hated his character in The Next Generation, nice to see the guy himself turned out awesome though. :)

psisyndicate the server hopper
DarkwaveDomina replied to TheHuntsMan87's topic in General Discussion
I'm not naming and shaming, but I've seen a few well-known streamers do some excessively douchy things. All the stuff the OP mentioned and more, including using multiple accounts to gear up immediately and exploit the specific areas they camp endlessly, and duping gear when they didn't think people could see them doing it. -
Dean Hall on Dayz ported to consoles.

I won't touch anything with the letters "SOE" on it after what he did to Star Wars Galaxies. /spit -
Quick And Simple Camo From The Go

People play without starting in green? :o -
It's rare as hen's teeth but it's actually an awful vest, I think it's a placeholder.

The level of badass in your post dropped immediately when you basically admitted to farming NEAF on empty servers. :(

People still go to Elektro. Laughing_Girls.jpg -
I'm one of those derps. :D I have simply played this and the mod far too long to get attached, I try not to let dying get to me any more. In fact, I usually end up finding a way to get myself killed because I enjoy the early stages of play.

Spawns On The East, Bet Everyone Thought It Was Stupid...
DarkwaveDomina replied to jacobahalls's topic in General Discussion
Same, though I also think there should be spawns further inland too (but far enough away from the airfields). Last night my friends and I got bored and decided to check out Balota and stuff on a well-populated hardcore server to look for a fight, something we never do but ultimately everyone eventually does, and we found nothing. Zelenogorsk was completely untouched, the military base near Pavlovo was completely untouched, and we only saw signs of (at least) a single player when we passed through Balota for the second time and saw a zombie that wasn't there before. It's like nobody even goes to the western half of the map any more, they just try to get the Berezino spawn and pick up weapons at the office before making a beeline for the ship and NEAF. -
Sneaky server update! (confirmed)
DarkwaveDomina replied to RoterBallon's topic in General Discussion
Maybe you're just unlucky, loot always has a % chance to spawn at all. Either way, the evidence is overwhelmingly in favour of this not being a hoax.
