A friend of mine suggested our "squad" of survivors all run with female skins because we never see people with them, so it'd be a way to identify each other, but that'd suck because of the bugs they apparently have with ghillie suits. And besides, I'm seeing female skins more often now, so maybe it'd be a better idea to make the whole squad black for this purpose.

There's quite a few <5 post people making threads about how "DayZ is done" or "is DayZ on a downward spiral?" nowadays. I wonder if these people are astro-turfing for the uncoming launch of that MMO that's clearly ripping off DayZ.

Use keystroke [shift] + [numberpad minus] together. No menu/console will appear, but immediately type "flush" on your keyboard (without quotation marks). This will reload all the graphics and such. It doesn't work for everybody, but it works for me every time. As for the patch, we'll get it when it's done as people have said. :P

He wasn't a hacker, he was just a sucky player who exploited the same mechanism you used to leave the game. He aborted, went on another server, ran to a location behind you, and finally logged back on to your server. The latest patch has introduced a tracker to analyse this sort of exploitation of the game mechanics while Rocket & Co. figure out a way to put a stop to it.

I was going to post the same sentiment. Exactly one time I got transformed in to a cow and teleported to the NWAF, where I promptly aborted instead of being shot (as the dead cows on the floor had been). One time, no more, that's confirmed script cheating and I have never otherwise had a reason to think I was "hacked". I have never been killed in the wilderness or a city by a "hacker", not personally. I have no trouble believing it happens, but I have been lucky and have always been able to explain how I died, and I think the vast majority of people who post about how they got "hacked" really just ragequit because someone shot them and they needed to vent. It happens on the forums for all shooters. You can often tell when you get hacked. Taking a bullet from an unknown location doesn't always mean you got "hacked". Emptying a clip in to someone and them not dying, when the server falls over and/or you have a ping of 500, does not mean you got "hacked".

If you find places in the game pointless because of water bottles and cooked meat then don't use them. You don't have to come crying to get features removed because there aren't enough "maps" for you to deathmatch in. And, frankly, I run in to plenty of players in the nothern towns. I had a Mexican stand-off in one just last night.

How about no? And besides, once duping and script exploits are under control, if ever, I believe we'll see sniper rifles become more rare by merit of people actually having to find them for a change.

Rocket is already considering this sort of option for if he launches as a standalone game. In numerous interviews he's praised the "Minecraft model" of paying a one-off fee for the alpha and retaining your copy of the game up to and beyond release.

Video memory should be left on default if you use a graphics card with more than 512MB of RAM, because it will then utilise all you have.

No not an entrance exactly, but if I'm remembering right all those apartment rooms have a sort of really short balcony that's the full height of a door. And also a window. I figured you were on the middle floor because the door on your left was non-enterable, there should have been an open apartment right behind you and anyone looking in through the window/balcony would have seen you. Judging from the blood spray the shot came from behind you.

You should try looking around once in a while, there's an apartment behind you and it opens out on to a sort of very short balcony. Your back was completely exposed.

A single shot to the head still works, it's shots to the body that are going to waste your ammo. Edit: Unless you get lag. I am positive I hit a zombie in the head with my M1911 and he didn't go down, but other zombies did so I can only assume it was lag.

Maybe he was shooting because so many people looking for military loot lie about being unarmed when they have a hatchet and a ranged weapon in their backpack, just food for thought. After a short debate about whether or not we should, my friends and I once shot a guy with a hatchet at the Stary military tents. We inspected his corpse and he had a L85A2 AWS and a bunch of other stuff in his backpack, he could have killed us, and you don't go to those tents unless you're looking for stuff to kill people with.

That's never happened to me, but as a matter of caution I'd say he should follow your advice. Alpha is alpha.

I almost exclusively play on 3DP=On and CH=Off servers. I use third person perspective almost exclusively, with the exception of aiming down my sights while firing. I just find the movement so unnatural and strange in first person mode, and for some reason I can't turn headbob entirely off even editing the .cfg and such.

Use your scrollwheel menu to "equip alice pack" then take your stuff out of the old pack on the floor.
