Why Alpha testing is pointless at the moment.
DarkwaveDomina replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't find it difficult at all to tell when I've encountered a hacker, that's how I know (within the bounds of reasonable doubt) I've only ever encountered a single one. The problem is that so many people who do find it difficult to tell what is and isn't 'hacking' blame a lot of their misfortunes or mistakes on hackers and indirectly obfuscate the problems in the game. If it weren't for open alpha testing Rocket wouldn't have discovered some serious issues, like how much lag and server load was created by abuse of the respawn button. Open alpha testing is nothing new, for that matter, and Rocket has consistently praised the Minecraft model of release. Be aware of your surroundings, stop assuming every death/mishap is 'hackers', and get bug reporting. -
DayZ Scavenger hunt deathmatch

Player-run events like this are what injects more fun in to the game for people who feel like they've done everything. Kudos to you, you have my beans. -
This game is prone to Hackers! Get rid of it!

Neighbouring countries should do fine on a 25Mbit line, even if it's ADSL. I'm in the UK and on my cable connection I tend to get no more than 20ms to anywhere in Europe, barring your native Russia which will be in the 50-70ms range, and I even get no more than 99-110ms to Dallas, Texas. If you're from Russia you might connect decently to Swedish servers. VPNs don't always just mask your IP though, often they have a more direct route through internet backbones and such so that your packets are not hopping all over the place. Of course it'd be a good idea to check with the company in question before signing up to such a service, most offer free trials too. -
We_got_a_badass_over_here.jpg Okay hardman, but I still want to know what server you "pay for". You're the one who brought it up with your bitching.
-
Please, please tell me which server this is so I can be sure to blacklist it. That way I am not putting you out. I don't play with entitled little tosspots who don't know what "alpha mod" means, one of the game requirements specifically says "balls".

What's being done about the hackers

Then stop having high ping. If your only available options for an internet connection suck then there are VPN services that do work for smoothing ping. -

Even if he does work for Bohemia, and from what I read he just contracts for them (this may or may not be wrong, it's just what I read), Bohemia have absolutely no responsibility for the security of DayZ. It's not their project and they have no obligation to expend any resources on it. One thing Rocket has said is that he wants to get this game standalone, at that point he will have more control. -
Oh look, another thread about 'hackers'. :emptycan:

Maybe you should send an email to Bohemia or BattlEye because there's fuck all Rocket can do about it. And no, it's not unplayable. Stop blaming every death on hackers. -

Obviously the ones I am playing on, because I don't get 'hacked' every five minutes like so many on this forum apparently do. Or rather, like so many people on this forum believe that they do. If you want specifics, I tend to play on SESUK1 or random NL/DE servers. Sometimes a random Dallas server if I want to play with an American friend. Those servers must be like magic rocks that keep tigers away, because I've only encountered a script kiddie once. -

DarkwaveDomina replied to Kingsix (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
ServiceStud: I think he meant get rid of the 'hackers', not the mod. It was just worded in an unfortunate manner. Unfortunately the script kiddies are a Bohemia/BattlEye problem, not a Rocket problem, at the current time. When DayZ goes stand-alone he should have a lot more control over what scripts can be run on servers. -

I still don't get how some of you are running in to 'hackers' so often. Unless you're playing on the same, infested servers every single day or are exaggerating as to how often you die to 'hackers' as opposed to other means. Personally, I can only confirm one single encounter with a hacker, a week or so ago when my friends and I were transformed in to cows and teleported to the NWAF. I'm not just "lucky". -
how to recognize too low temperature??
DarkwaveDomina replied to magicool's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Good riddance. It's not like I'd run around sticking a thermometer up my arse in the event of societal collapse. I can't wait until the debug monitor is no longer required for testing at all, then it won't be a score sheet. -
Started to be a silly glitchy game (sorry i mean mod)

Oh look, another kid who can't get killed by anyone but "hackers". This is fresh and new, thank you for your most informative thread. -

P.S. Tell us more about how making maps makes you an expert on scripts and BattlEye. -
Look around for a Jack Daniels bottle and throw it at the window. Prepare to go deaf though.

You have my beans. Also, it's worth re-iterating that script kiddies are an ArmA2/BattlEye problem, not a DayZ problem. -
It's natural selection. One of the game requirements is "balls", they don't meet the requirements and cannot play.

It wouldn't surprise me if some script kiddie on this forum saw your baww thread and decided to add you to DayZ Commander so they could follow you and troll you. I'd do it if I was a script kiddie. -
I hate playing at night because I suck at it, but it's one of those things I can use to challenge myself when I feel like "I've done everything".
-
It happens, not everyone who kills you is hacking. Some of them just lie in bushes in a wookiee suit like you, some of those people also have their detail set to nothing and/or have an L85 for scouting.

Alt+F4 as soon as you are teleported, and stop playing on shitty servers. This has only ever happened to me one time, and they didn't manage to kill me.
