Standalone by September? No chance
DarkwaveDomina replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was thinking that as I was writing it. If DayZ does go standalone on the ArmA 3 engine who knows what a shitpile it'll be. :D -
Are there vehicle location hacks? or admin abuse here?
DarkwaveDomina replied to lnfighter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not trying to troll you, seriously. I just think admins probably get sick to death of these accusations of having magic powers they can abuse, I know I would. And you can feel free to whinge and be butthurt all you want, I was going to have some dinner and catch up on True Blood anyway eventually. -

Cool rage bro, maybe you need to try the performance tweaks I was telling Persason about. -
Are there vehicle location hacks? or admin abuse here?
DarkwaveDomina replied to lnfighter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Except an admin just told you he doesn't know what system is used for co-ordinates and that it would be hard to follow. Was my guess right? Did an admin run across you in the woods and put a .50 through you or your vehicle? Are you butthurt? -

It didn't edit my first post in this thread, it still quite clearly says I called you a retard and said you're making accusations. Which might as well be calling you out as a liar. I edit my posts a lot but it's pretty much exclusively to correct bad spelling/grammar or add additional points that came to mind, I have no shame in calling you a liar. You're clearly not "trying to help", you're trying to stir shit. Did an admin run in to you in the woods and kill you or your vehicle? An admin just said above you that the logs you're talking about don't contain the same co-ordinates as the game world. -

LOL. I was having framerate problems myself until a friend pointed out the video memory thing, I know how you feel man. Another tip I can give you is to go to your user folder in Windows and look for \Documents\ArmA 2\ArmA2OA.cfg, if you open that with notepad and look for the following commands you should change them to read as follows: GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; By default they might be set to something like 1000 and it's pointless. Also, editing the \Documents\ArmA 2 Other Profiles\profile name\profilename.ArmA2OAProfile to read as follows might help too: sceneComplexity=1000000; -

No, I really was just asking you to back up your accusations, and anyone reading this thread can see that as well as your almost hilarious over-reaction to being called out. Indeed, I'm clearly the immature cunt here. Clearly. -

It might have been more suited to the support forum though, as I know there are a few workarounds for this graphics bug (your mileage may vary). Unfortunately the bug also seems to be related to the recent ArmA beta patches and not the DayZ patch itself, as it's an old problem in the ArmA engine. Mess with the graphics settings, try the shift+minus/flush command, restart your client and/or computer, and see how it fares until the patch comes out. A friend of mine has this bug really bad and these solutions always fix it in the end. -

He's got a point though. There's something intensely #firstworldproblems about whining because a patch for an alpha of a mod is 55 hours late. -

I don't want to look like I'm on some sort of crusade, but holy balls. I bet admins get sick to the back teeth of being accused of things like this. I've seen them accused of everything from using kill commands, turning players in to zombies, aimbotting/wallhacking, and now even "tracking players and vehicles". Just to re-iterate: Many admins have said on this board that they don't have these magical powers, put up or shut up. -

My framerate is always around 60 or above, I like to make use of my 120Hz monitor. Have you got video memory set to default? If you put it on very high it'll cap your VRAM usage at 512MB, but if you leave it on default it'll auto-detect how much you have. As for people with weaker machines, I agree they should be able to run it too, and that's what lower settings are for. The settings we're using are quite good and, in my opinion at least, look pretty nice. -

I'm not asking you to teach me any such thing, I'm not interested in cheating, but your bullshit straw man is noted. I am just asking you to get your admin friend (if he exists) to come here and confirm it, in an environment which includes his peers (other admins). You don't seem willing to do so, what other conclusions am I supposed to draw other than you're making baseless accusations out of some sort of butthurt? -

So you're going to make accusations of potential admin abuse, but you "don't need to" prove anything to me and it "doesn't matter" to you? Do you really fail to see how fucktarded your logic is? It's clear at this point that you're just making shit up, congratulations on publicly humiliating yourself. Next time you make accusations prepare your homework in case you get called on it. It's just a shame some active admins didn't come in here and mop the floor with you, as I have seen it happen numerous times on this board. -

You must have spent 3k on a lemon then, because I'm running DayZ on very high settings, normal antialiasing, ATOC+FXAA, with post-processing disabled and my computer is not cutting edge as it once was. I'm using an i5 2500k and a GTX 580. And it certainly didn't cost me 3k. -

The engine itself could be done already. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines went gold with the Source engine before Half Life 2. But it's all speculation at this point and is pretty much useless. -

I am not an admin, I asked you which server you administer. Failing that, which server does your friend administer? You're calling me childish but all I said was that I've seen enough admins on this very board correct retarded accusations like the ones you're throwing out, it sounds to me like you're taking it real fucking personally too. I guess getting called out on bullshit and not being able to back it up really pisses some people off, who'd have guessed? -

Which server do you administer? Please, tell us all publicly. I've seen enough admins on these boards say they can't do shit like that, precisely because retards like you make accusations of them being able to teleport players and use kill commands. -

You're kidding, right? COD and BF games are rife with aimbot/wallhack software suites. Punkbuster is a waste of time. I've encountered much less cheating in DayZ than I have in COD or BF2/BC2/BF3. They are much more popular, but the point stands. -

This game is prone to Hackers! Get rid of it!

I'm afraid not as I've never had to use one, but I know a lot of people had success in solving WoW connection issues and high pings by using such services. -

DarkwaveDomina replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't claim to know anything about game development, nor the process of transitioning a mod to a stand-alone product, but I don't think it's a leap in logic to speculate that the only real roadblocks would be a. Licencing an/the engine and b. Replacing all the Bohemia-owned assets (models, skins, etc.) with in-house ones. The mod could be ported to standalone as-is if it was free from Bohemia's assets, right? -
What keeps you playing DayZ?
DarkwaveDomina replied to Heaves's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What keeps me playing is the freedom and the challenge. Too many games are easy nowadays, and most of them dictate how you play.
