  1. Look if you want to sit on top of a hill and snipe newbies all day, whatever, but flatten your own fucking grass and stop being so lazy.

    *THIS* is why I KOS.

I understand how you feel OP. I have tried to interact with bambies before but they just act psychotic, now I just shoot any that come too close.

    Terrible FPS after patch

I noticed that for my machine, too. I have even been able to turn my settings up a little since the patch (i5 2500k, GTX 760).

    just drank alcohol

You can't. Merino uses SCIENCE(!!) to figure it out.

    just drank alcohol

I don't think charcoal tabs fix chemical poisoning, only poisoning from eating rotten fruit etc. As it stands I don't think anything fixes chemical poisoning unless you are quick enough to make yourself vomit through over-eating/drinking. Source: Lost all my gear yesterday to one sip of alcohol tincture. That'll teach me to put it on the hotbar next to my canteen. After watching Merino's latest videos it seems charcoal tablets do work for alcohol tincture poisoning, and the healthy/healing status might save you too.

    Gun echo.

I have heard the echo from gunfire. What I have not heard, however, is the snap of the rounds going by. I miss that pants-pissing inducing snap. :(

Think im gonna uninstall / wait till its fixed.

OP I lost much better stuff than that to a glitch/mistake just yesterday: Full TTsKO, helmet, dust mask, etc. I also had an M4 but it had the rails and a flashlight. I was checking out the north-west airfield today looking for some Mosin ammo when the server just happened to reset, I was practically re-geared within half an hour. As it stands it's not hard to re-gear, I'm sure it will get much harder as features are added to the game but right now it's nothing to rage-quit over. It's also something that you really should have expected, the page on which you bought the game warned you not to even bother unless you were serious about testing a really buggy game. Rule #1 of DayZ has always been "don't get attached to your gear", but in the current state of the standalone you really need to just accept that you'll lose it to something stupid like falling through the floor or stairs.

Anybody wish the SA was never released?

I sure miss being teleported to the Thunderdome OP. Not. :emptycan:
  9. I'm in favour of anything that makes me value my character so long as it is realistic and doesn't imbalance the game. It's completely realistic that people become more proficient in certain things, and Rocket himself has said in Q&As that he eventually wants characters to get better at certain things over time. I believe he was using vehicle repair and administering medical aid as an example. Cardio has been suggested since the early days of the mod and is a great example of something that could work as a reward once stamina/exhaustion actually matters. Being able to run slightly farther, for example, doesn't really imbalance the game but will make you think twice about killing yourself to re-gear for fun (let's be honest, at this point most of us have done it at least once).

    No Servers available

Should have gone to Specsavers. :|
  11. It wouldn't work for me, directing you back to my previous post. Am I still just "doing it wrong"?

    Wise Words

The part about being able to outrun zombies is quite true. The zombies in DayZ Mod may have been broken as hell but they were a pain, a pain that I often found myself crawling around rather than running from so that I didn't draw attention to myself. I concur with this and I don't think unlimited sprint is intended. After checking out the science(!) that guy did on energy and water consumption it seems to make no difference whether you walk, jog, run, or sprint and this can't be intended.
  13. I am curious what mouse sensitivity and settings you use, and why you think I should play like you.
  14. A lot of us are not even asking for 1:1 mouse movement, even if we're not given an option to turn negative acceleration off it would be nice if we could turn it down. It's totally unrealistic and it's a pain in the arse for those of us who are punished just because we play with high sensitivity peripherals. Not only am I more comfortable with high sensitivity and smaller movements but it also alleviates a lot of issues I have to put up with because I have arthritis, it is that simple.

    Should this be called fun?

The creator of DayZ used to call it an anti-game. It was never intended to be "fun", not in the sense of you being constantly entertained and rewarded. It was intended to fill the gap in the market for a realistic zombie survival simulator, for people who want to experience such a thing.
  16. It's not realistic? I guess I imagined those night-time rural walks I used to take. Pity, they were nice. :(
  17. Steelseries 4HD mouse pad, but you're right I only use a few inches of it. I don't claw grip and I don't like sweeping movements so 3500-4000 DPI on my new G400S with in-game sense down to minimum feels very nice. I do still wish I weren't punished with the negative acceleration though. I noticed a slight improvement when I turned the in-game sensitivity to minimum on both axis, I did this while I was still using my old mouse, but I still get the negative acceleration too. I don't get why people are against giving us the option to turn it off (or at least turn it down a lot).

    Why ARMA Engine?

In the same post you say you're talking about the end goal, then you say "it is an MMO and always will be an MMO". If the end goal is to make it more like an MMO, with a higher capacity and more persistent world then I am completely happy with this, but to call it an MMO in its current form is more like MMarketing. Don't get me wrong, it's good marketing, the term MMO is slung around like confetti nowadays so people have clearly eaten it up. You still say you're "basing this on definitions found around the web of what an MMO is", just not ours though. They don't count.
  19. DarkwaveDomina

    Why ARMA Engine?

You say it's about the definition that has been "established through out the years", but you're using your own subjective opinion of what 'massively' means here just as I am. As it stands, using your loose definition of "massively multiplayer online", Battlefield 3 is more of an "MMO" than DayZ in its current form. Battlefield 3 not only has a higher player cap but also has character progression and stats-tracking, it is just missing perma-death. Don't even try to bring up persistence because there is currently no persistence on the servers as they have to come down and reset every 3-4 hours, just like the destructible environments and objects in Battlefield 3 reset with a new round. I never claimed to be using some holy definition of "MMO", but don't you try to claim you are. You're not, it's quite subjective and up for debate, and for the time being DayZ remains a sandbox multiplayer game in my opinion.
  20. I think people jump the gun blaming this on cheaters and not bugs. A friend of mine was teleported in to the ocean and he re-logged immediately, he reappeared in the centre of the map just fine. If a cheater wanted to upset him by teleporting him to the ocean, why would said cheater then help my friend when he logged back in?
  21. DarkwaveDomina

    Why ARMA Engine?

By this loose definition COD and Battlefield are MMOs too. An MMO to me always meant "massive" numbers of players interacting together in the same space, 40 isn't massive to me and I just call this a multiplayer sandbox game. Different strokes and all that though.
  22. DarkwaveDomina

    Why ARMA Engine?

I don't pretend to know if any other engine would be suitable for this game. I know this game runs like utter horse crap on my PC compared to much better looking (in some cases much older) games with huge maps, but I deal with it. I have resigned myself to the simple fact that this is the engine we have and I just hope it's optimised a lot as we transition through the phases of development. If we're honest with ourselves, forget any rationalisation made by any member of staff or forum mod, if we're 100% honest we all know that it would simply never have been another engine. Even if a more suitable engine was available this engine was made in-house by Bohemia, for them to spend a small fortune licencing another engine would have essentially been calling their own engine crap.
  23. DarkwaveDomina

Love the game, Hate the players...

Combat logging is a problem that I think the majority of the community recognises and hopes will be fixed soon, but this sort of thing is to be expected in an alpha.
  24. DarkwaveDomina

    What is your survival style?

Militant, I guess. I prefer playing with my friends and our main focus is looting, if we run in to other players our response really depends on the circumstances. If I'm playing alone, which is a very small proportion of my time, then I'm very much a scavenger. I focus on gearing up for when I'm with my friends and I avoid firefights.
  25. DarkwaveDomina

How seriously do you take your gameplay?

I don't take most games seriously at all but DayZ brings out my inner /k/ommando. Things just move a lot more quickly and simply when your group understands a certain way of speaking and a certain pattern of behaviour, my current group of friends is not at this point yet but the guys I ran with in DayZ mod didn't require much communication at all when we were getting shit done. It almost feels like telepathy when everyone you're with knows exactly what their job is, and you can give them all the required information with one or two words.
