  1. People have already said observation, situational awareness, and variations thereof. I think this is the most important skill to have in DayZ and is sometimes one of my weaknesses. If you can be aware of what is going on and see other players before they see you, you will probably always figure out some way to survive by getting the drop on them or avoiding them.

    Of course they will. In Quake you don't have to deal with your character moving around like it does in DayZ, you don't have to deal with hunger, hydration, and energy, you don't have to worry about the condition of your gear. People who say accurate mouse movement will turn DayZ in to a twitch shooter are essentially disregarding half the things that make DayZ the game it is.

    Nobody is saying that, they're saying the mouse movement is unrealistic and breaks immersion. I have seen people say, time and time again, that they go back to DayZ Mod and that the negative acceleration is more harsh in standalone, some saying they feel "jetlagged" playing standalone. Rocket himself has posted that the negative acceleration is going to be worked on so he clearly sees it more our way than yours.

    That's fine but it needs turning down a bit. Those of us who use mice with higher sensitivities are punished because a couple of inches of movement makes us hit a brick wall with basically no responsiveness, something people who use low sensitivity mice just don't have to deal with. People on this forum like to complain about things being unbalanced, that's pretty much the definition of unbalanced right there. I'll just wait for some smartarse to tell me to turn my sensitivity down, even though I have legitimate reasons for having it high.

    Says who? Do you think you're the guy in your avatar or something? Personally I don't think 1:1 mouse movement would turn DayZ in to a twitch shooter, not with all the other aspects of the gameplay taken in to account (even simple things like moving around). I'd just be happy with a reduction in the negative acceleration but it seems like anything would be better than how it works now.

    Sprint speed and map size

    I think it's on topic. Sprint doesn't need nerfing, but as it stands how fast you move has no effect on energy and hydration, when those systems are properly in place we'll probably find that sprinting for more than a short time drains you of these valuable resources extremely quickly. Either that or they might bring in some kind of stamina system.

    Nobody has ever caught me logging out in a tree line, 30 seconds here or there is not going to make a difference. If you log out in Elektro or airfield buildings I can see why you would have a problem with this, but there's a simple solution.

    Yeah it seems like something he should know, and in the experimental patch thread he said loot should be spawning in the brown houses. He doesn't seem to know which houses spawn loot or not and as the team leader I wish he'd look in to it because it makes me wonder what else he doesn't know. :(

    It would be nice if the loot not spawning in sheds and half the houses were also marked as a known issue, in one of his live streams (or during Sacriel's stream, I forget which) Rocket indicated that loot "should be" spawning in certain types of house when he was told it's not.

    I'm with DeatHTaX. They have mentioned that optimisation is something on the list and important, in one of his streams Dean Hall mentioned they'd had particularly damning feedback from AMD/Nvidia etc. and that there was a ton of wiggle-room with regards to optimising performance. I'm sure someone is already working on it.

  14. I hate to be one of those "I stopped reading right there" people, but I did. They released the standalone (very) early because we were crying out for them to do so for a year, Dean Hall himself has said this. The game is in a state because it's nowhere near finished, they know this and they did not want to release it, but they threw us a solid and I won't complain about them doing such a thing.

    They used to chase you for a very long time in the mod but they would stop as soon as they lost line of sight, unfortunately the zombies in the standalone can see through walls so they can be extremely difficult to shake off. I'm sure it'll be fixed sooner or later.

    If you're going to say "once and for all" and tell people to stop bitching, post something that's relevant. I can 100% confirm that this registry tweak does absolutely nothing to the negative acceleration in DayZ, confirmed using a G400S with no hardware based prediction or acceleration whatsoever at 4000 DPI and 2560x1440 resolution.

    Currently the speed at which you move has no effect on how quickly you lose energy and hydration, I imagine this is not working as intended and they're still planning out how walking, jogging, running, and sprinting will drain you of these precious resources. I can only imagine that sooner or later this will be a reason not to spring long distances, or that they might implement some form of stamina system. Either way I think it's safe to assume perma-sprint will be lost somewhere through alpha/beta.

    If I am overlooking a town with my long-range scope it's probably because I am scouting it, checking to see if doors are shut and zombies are present, so that I know no players are around and I might actually get some good loot.

    That's the only thing I found that helped, too: The old trick of turning in-game sensitivity to its lowest setting and increasing mouse sensitivity. Unfortunately for me I use quite high sensitivity settings on my mouse so I still get hit pretty hard with the negative acceleration after a certain threshold.

    I wish I misunderstood, unfortunately I didn't. A lot of people around here will get all over your back because you are asking for better mouse input, they think the current implementation is realistic and will accuse you of wanting to turn DayZ in to a twitch ego shooter. It happens every time the subject comes up.

    You're right, I misread and assumed you were comparing SA to the mod. To answer your question though: You're also right, a lot of things like loot are being messed with currently and there is an issue with rubber-banding and lag.
