I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!
DarkwaveDomina replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
None of your post applies to the reason why I want an auto-run key, so I thought I'd highlight the key point: You being intellectually lazy and simply presuming other players only want an auto-run key to be cheap. -

DarkwaveDomina replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I don't care about getting somewhere in a fast or lazy fashion, I just want to be able to toggle it. Not everyone wants an auto-run key to be "cheap", this is nothing but a lazy argument that does nothing to further the discussion. -
This is why I am not sure sprinting was an exploit, but we'll have to wait and see what the developers do instead (if they even bring it back).

Neutral safe zones that physically prevent combat

Please no. -
I'm just trying to figure out how he means it when he says "exploit", I always figured most gamers use it as a synonym for a cheat (but not a literal cheat, like aim-bots).

The unplayable, crippling FPS drop is fixed for me but since that patch my overall performance has decreased quite noticeably. I have gone from ~70 FPS in the countryside to around ~40, which isn't so bad but people on lesser systems might be experiencing a whole lot worse.

When sprinting ("fist-running") worked in DayZ you didn't run with your fists in front of you, your fists turned to hands and looked like they do when you sprint. I agree with you that the implementation was dodgy but I am wondering why you think it was an exploit, "exploit" usually implies some form of cheating.

This logout system seriously needs to be deleted

OP if I were you I would report these server issues (disconnects and authentication errors) instead of complaining about a protection that helps. -
I'm curious as to why you though it was an exploit. I always thought of it like this: 1. Walking: Hold W with walk enabled (shift or double-shift). 2. Jogging: Hold W. 3. Running: Double-tap and hold W. 4. Sprinting: Double-tap and hold W with your fists up. Now I will not argue against the notion that it might not have been working correctly, or that maybe the devs don't want it any more, but I wouldn't call it an exploit. When I go running and I want to get a sprint on I must use my arms because they work in tandem with your legs, so it seems to me like the devs were originally trying to replicate this. I will also not argue against the notion that it might have been over-powered, without any increased energy/hydration drain and without any form of stamina bar you could do it indefinitely, but this also applies to running and jogging.

My friend and I tested this, running and sprinting (as I liked to call them) now seem to be the same thing.

I am one of those people who voted yes for everything. My opinion is that having to get a head shot to kill a zombie would make them much more threatening, especially when there are more of them, and I feel this would be fine if the movement and pathing zombies use now remains the same (barring obvious glitches like running through walls) because it's not at all difficult to get a head shot on them. If the zombies moved and pathed the way they did in the mod, which is to say very quickly and erratically, I would change my last vote. One caveat I must add, however, is that knocking them down should not be very hard. Melee attacks, "shoves" (if we ever get them), shots to the legs, shotgun blasts to the chest and so forth should knock over these shambling monsters in order to leave a viable avenue of escape for those who might struggle to get the head shot.

Why are some of you completely incapable of discussing this issue like adults? If you don't want to discuss an issue why are you on General Discussion? Does "fuck off, we don't want you" apply here too? -
It would really depend on the situation, I don't know about anybody else but I certainly don't have a single response to being attacked by somebody I can't see. Ideally my immediate response would be to find some sort of safe cover or concealment so that I can collect my thoughts and deal with any injuries I might have sustained, only then will I worry about trying to find the person responsible and shoot back if capable (or run if not). One thing I most certainly would not do is run in to a building, even if I knew for sure it had multiple exits I think it could easily become a siege.

Mosin useless if you try to learn long range sniping.
DarkwaveDomina replied to wuffi (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
While this does make sense, it wouldn't hurt at all to let us choose when to cycle the weapon. If it didn't happen until you released right-click it would make perfect sense. -
100man servers... my biggest fear has been realised.
DarkwaveDomina replied to Cenobyte's topic in General Discussion
Wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't less loot with nearly every patch. -
I made a thread about this OP, I am going to edit it and add a link to your thread because you have posted a lot more examples than I did. Numerous rooms/buildings you posted did spawn loot before and now they simply don't, and it's quite odd that Rocket seems to have no idea about it judging from his posts and streams. He seems to think all building should be spawning loot, I frankly skip the vast majority of buildings now when I hit anything smaller than a city.

Just had a sour death. This game can make you feel really bad sometimes!

DarkwaveDomina replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Alright clever cloggs, but unfortunately this is the bit where I have to tell you Rocket was using something to hold his W key down in his latest stream. There is nothing wrong with an auto-run function. It won't play the game for you, you will likely die if you attempt to use it in such a fashion, but if I want to cross that field while at the keyboard without holding down W then what is the problem? "Man up" you say? There is nothing difficult about holding down W, it is only tedious, especially if you have arthritic knuckles like I do. Following your logic we should remove double tapping for sprint, you should have to mash W with every footstep to replicate how manly you are by running, by your logic this makes the game harder and not just shit right? -
Is it better to travel with your gun in your hands or on your back?
DarkwaveDomina replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
On the other hand moving slowly also reduces your chances of being seen at all, motion is much more noticeable than shapes. My friends like to run all over, but if I am playing alone I tend to play a lot more carefully. -
Yeah not any more, it was fixed a couple of patches back.
-
I take the same approach with firearms but not with supplies. The less guns in circulation the better it is for me.

Sniper @ Berezino Docks - WP! Are you here? :)
DarkwaveDomina replied to e00c's topic in General Discussion
I don't mean to start that age-old argument, but your video is more than 50% your character scratching his nose on a wall. -
100 players wouldn't be so bad if half the buildings in the game actually spawned loot, or if loot re-spawned as others have said.
-
Even if that player were male and pretending to be friendly, you still fell for their trap. Well played to that group.

I say this a lot, but I shoot any bambis that come within twenty feet of me if I have given them fair warning. Far too many have tried to knock me out or use a pipe wrench on me for me to waste my time trusting them any more, they're even worse than armed players sometimes because they think having nothing to lose gives them a licence to act psychotic. Now that we can break legs though I'm going to shoot to maim and just leave them there if it happens again.
