He's a perfectionist, despite the game being a financial success and loved by many thousands of people, he feels he can do better. Don't try to understand a perfectionist, unless you are one yourself they are absolutely impossible to figure out and seem borderline insane.

What tune has changed? He never said DayZ would be his entire life until he dies, he never said he won't work on other games when DayZ can stand on its own two feet.

Why is everyone acting like this is the end of the game? He's not taking your money and running, he's leaving it in the hands of a team of people (around thirty if I recall correctly) he clearly trusts to develop it further. That team has been doing most of the work on it since standalone came out anyway. I have huge respect for Rocket and for DayZ, it is his baby and it shows that his greatest strength is his creativity. Let me restate that with emphasis; His strength is his creativity. I mean no insult to Rocket when I say this despite it sounding harsh, but it's clear that his greatest talent is put to waste if he's a code-monkey (he himself says he breaks just as much as he fixes when he's working on the game) and he doesn't even seem to play the game as evidenced by his borderline noobish behaviour when he is playing it on his streams. Despite these flaws the concept of the game sprung from his mind and took form. That is a great gift to the PC gaming community at large, with the market being swamped by shitty and unoriginal games, and I am grateful for it. If Rocket thinks he's done all he can for this game and must move on I respect his decision, I predict he's already working on a new concept for a game that might equally blow us away. I predict this because that's clearly what he does best, and he's established himself as a horse you can bet on when it comes to taking risks other developers and publishers won't and still making it a financial success.

This is how I got used to guesstimating distances with the naked eye, I can usually guess 100, 300, 500, and 800m quite accurately and work from there.

I have not yet encountered a hacker personally, but I have seen the video in the post I have quoted and it makes me sick.

Rocket has said that item damage is a mess and that he wants to re-do it, all I can suggest is trying not to get shot.

The last time I used a shotgun in DayZ I broke someone's legs with it from about 50 or 60 feet. I wasn't even expecting to hit the guy, very impressed, A++ would shoot again.

NWAF was the place to be in the mod if you wanted confrontations with highly geared players, nowadays everyone hangs around NEAF because so many players spawn on the east coast and beeline north through Berezino.

You didn't delete .pbo files for a "performance increase", did you? There was a dumb as hell thread a little while back telling people to do that.

I would like to see more server types. Just some random examples out of thin-air. Hardcore: 1st person, no crosshair, no gamma adjust.Hard: 1st person, crosshair enabled, gamma enabled.Normal: 1st/3rd person, crosshair enabled, gamma enabled.

I haven't used Vent for a few years. Since switching to TS though I can't look back, I love it.

You're going to be extremely disappointed. DayZ has a sort of negative acceleration mechanic that's supposed to simulate certain things, but in reality is completely annoying. Quick movements aren't even really possible with my mouse and settings.

Vent has too much delay from what I remember, and Mumble just refuses to work on my computer for some reason. TS is superb.

You're trolling us, or an admin is trolling you. This sound a lot like the "I feel like somebody is watching me" messages.

I hope that's a bug if it's true, I was presuming that heart attacks would be an extension of the shock/unconscious mechanic.

Did you recently take damage or get fired upon, or was it completely spontaneous?
