Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year

I stopped reading your post there, it was long and I knew it would be rubbish from this comment alone, but I am curious as to what makes someone a "whiny little bitch" for wanting to leave a job when you will not be needed any more. Not to mention not wanting to essentially become a citizen of a country on the opposite side of the planet. The guy has a life outside DayZ. He doesn't belong to you and he doesn't owe you anything but a finished game, which he promises the team will deliver. This thread has been a real eye-opener because it shows you not only how much people fail at reading comprehension but also how much adults can and will stomp their feet and have tantrums like spoiled little children, assuming you are not actually a child triggy89. No offence to children was intended by this post. -
People keep saying this, but not telling us why they think that. Rocket certainly thinks DayZ can go on without him.

When the benchmarks come out I predict Thief will run just as fast, or slightly faster, on a PC with a 750Ti in it. Just as Titanfall does, just as Battlefield 4 does, just as Call of Duty Ghosts does, just as pretty much every game does because the hardware is practically the same on paper. You need to stop coming out with the old $1200 computer argument, things have changed. A 750Ti is $150 and AMD hardware costs sod all, not only that but you don't have to bend over for Sony and MS, paying them just so you can have permission to play online (unless you play certain F2P games). I'm not saying it couldn't, I'm just saying it would either look like crap or run like crap, and thankfully Rocket said they're not even interested in doing this if it has any effect on the development of the PC version. If it didn't have any effect on this version, fine, I don't mind if the console gamers have an inferior version of the game that actually runs on their machines. -

I actually suspect that this generation of consoles will hail a golden age of ports that aren't so rubbish, at least I hope so. One thing to be thankful for WRT the PS4/Xbone. -

Considering the current gen of consoles are one step away from using off-the-shelf PC hardware and now have the lovely and bloated O/S we're used to on the PC, I am suggesting it's as good as being as like-for-like comparison. The equivalent-on-paper PC hardware can run games like Titanfall and Battlefield 4 better than this gen of console, not only that but it can actually run them at 1080p unlike those consoles in some cases. Also; Despite the myths you don't need to spend $1600 to get it nor do you have to give Sony or Microsoft a fee just to play online, nor do you have to have an NSA spy device in your living room. -

Then why does a machine with a 750Ti equal or outperform the current consoles, considering it has similar specs on paper? This isn't the 16-bit era, you'd be surprised how much OS is running under there (especially on the Xbox One). http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-nvidia-geforce-gtx-750-ti-review http://www.gamespot.com/articles/149-nvidia-gtx-750-ti-unveiled-plays-titanfall-better-than-xbox-one/1100-6417813/ -

DarkwaveDomina replied to Plimax (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Not true, a 750Ti will outperform a PS4 in a game like BF4. A system with that graphics card in would cost far less than $1500, do much more, and not require a fee for online play. The current gen of consoles are simply just midrange PCs, games tend to perform similarly or even slightly worse on equivalent hardware. The optimisation argument seems to be old hat, I can't remember where I saw them but there were benchmarking vids comparing the 750Ti with the current consoles. As it stands there are already games out (even exclusives like Ryse) that can't run in 1080p on those consoles, in a year or two you'll start seeing the corners being cut in game design just to make them run at that resolution and look modern. Meanwhile in two years I'll sell my GPU and swap it out for something nearly twice as fast, for hardly any loss financially. -

I'm not sure what you're implying here. Is having high standards a bad thing? I'm sure it would run, but if it had the same level of optimisation it has on PC it would run as a slideshow. The current consoles are just low-midrange PCs, and I was just getting 20fps in Stary. -

Console hardware can barely run console games at the appropriate screen resolution, sorry but that's just how it is. As for the topic at hand, he mentioned this in his recent Eurogamer stream and thankfully he said it's not something they plan to do if it would have any effect on the development of the PC version. -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
DarkwaveDomina replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Yeah wolffe, Rocket is the one who tries to put up a "big image like he's tough". Next he might change his internet persona to a wolf and start insulting someone he doesn't know over the internet, in a thread they're not even taking part in! -
Post your clever joke names for DayZ!

Daisy. -
You bought DayZ without knowing the first thing about it? Welcome to the only difficult game you have ever played, I hope you give it another chance because it's really fun once you get the hang of it and play with friends.

Devs, forget features, just focus on stability & release date.

DayZ has a team of about thirty people working on it. You don't know what you're talking about. -

Pretty sure pistols don't use zeroing, it's for long-range weapons to account for bullet drop. -

I might be remembering incorrectly but I am sure the Mosin and M4 use zeroing, and it does work with iron sights but can't set it so high as if you were using optics. -

I didn't interpret it that way at all. Here is what Rocket himself had to say. -

No problem, just try not to rely on it or you'll form bad habits. I'm awful at guessing distances in games and in real life but I do quite well in DayZ now. To practice I basically used that tool to get a general idea of how far certain landmarks were from me (say, from a warehouse to a barn) and I remember back to what I saw when I need to line up a shot. "He's about as far as that barn was, I'll set my zeroing to 300 metres", for example. -

Do you trust Rocket? He picked the team, so either way you trust Rocket or you don't. If you don't then I have to wonder what keeps you playing. -

You're welcome. Also, if you're bad at estimating distances like I was, you can practice by using the map on the DayZ DB website. Their map has a feature that allows you to click on two points and find out the distance, after using this a little bit I can now guesstimate distances quite well with the naked eye in DayZ.
