When does your "switch" flip during an encounter?
DarkwaveDomina replied to Wiggin Miller's topic in General Discussion
As much as I hate to say it, I am so guilty of this. I play almost exclusively on UK/GB servers and apart from a few incidents it seems like most people who kill me on sight are foreigners. Barring a single unarmed Polish guy I held up (I didn't hurt him in any way, nor did I rob him), every encounter with anyone who sounded vaguely eastern European has ended up with me being shot at on sight. If that Polish guy was armed maybe he would too, who knows. Every single incident of this type also results in them saying something like "lol, bitch... bitch... you my bitch... mother fuck lol" down the mic over and over again in a broken accent if they kill me. Without exception every American player I have encountered on a UK/GB server has been a mouthy little shit, without exception. Usually newspawns, and usually run after me (no matter how far away I was) and try punching me as soon as they see me, mouthing off down the mic. I am not saying all American players are like this, but the ones who go on GB servers when it's late here are doing it to avoid full servers in their time zone and probably fit a certain personality type anyway. I, and the friend I regularly play with, usually just kill people with accents from the above places now. It's not KoS, we wait until there is verbal communication. The friendliest people I have encountered on UK/GB servers, after British people of course, are Germans. Simple as. I always have time for German players, some have saved my life, sometimes in some ridiculous places like NWAF where you would expect any player contact to be hostile. -
B95, Mosin question | Sawn of Blaser K95

I suspect what happened here is that your legs were supposed to be broken but the damage didn't register, it's happened to me when purposefully jumping off things lately. -

Experimental - New melee animation.
DarkwaveDomina replied to flygamer1's topic in General Discussion
I think the intention is that you have to click once to raise the axe before you click to swing it, that's how guns work in the down position currently. Now if only players gave a damn that your weapon is in the down position and that you clearly don't intend to be hostile. :( -
Only new game that runs 4K flawless.

I absolutely love Scan, I also tend to do plenty of business with Ebuyer and OcUK too depending on what deals are on or what sort of delivery I need. -
Adding a block mechanic to DayZ
DarkwaveDomina replied to TEST_SUBJECT_83's topic in General Discussion
I know, sorry. I was just mainly here to also pitch to you the idea of a shove mechanic. Don't worry I read all your post and I agree with it. :D -
This, I play at 2560x1440 too and the option is available in the video settings.

Adding a block mechanic to DayZ
DarkwaveDomina replied to TEST_SUBJECT_83's topic in General Discussion
Something that was talked about a lot during the development of the mod was a shove mechanic, some way to shove zombies and players. I fully supported this, and I think a natural extension of that idea is also the ability to hold up your hands or objects defensively. Have some beans, sir. -
I read your post in the voice of Samuel L. Jackson.

DarkwaveDomina replied to Lordocalot's topic in General Discussion
I don't like it, not only in terms of desktop space but after seeing 1440p gaming I just knew I had to have it. The good news is that I didn't have to spend £3k either. :D -
[Nvidia Users] A possible fix for Dayz crash to desktop
DarkwaveDomina replied to paradogz's topic in General Discussion
I have been using 334.89 with a GTX 580 and a GTX 760 and haven't had this issue. I'm not saying the issue doesn't exist, just that if people continue to have it despite rolling back the driver then it's very likely that something else is to blame. I did used to get this driver crash a lot back when I was playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3. I do, I'm lazy and did express install. But that's good news, it might not be those causing the hang either. -
who else is excited about the recent tweet from rocket?
DarkwaveDomina replied to mjf6866's topic in General Discussion
Monkfish: Ah okay, I was just curious. Yeah your performance sounds about right as my laptop is similarly powerful and gets the same sort of performance. My 2500k is actually at 4GHz, I am hoping that increasing my RAM clock to 1600 MHz did help somewhat but I have to do more testing (early signs are good). Immediately upon reading your post I thought "that's why" with regards to your config tweaks, I don't mess with them because the usual guides make the game look seriously bad. I might try some of yours though and see how it goes. -

Meanwhile I'm still trying to figure out why I get as low as 18 FPS in some towns, I hope you don't run in to this issue OP. Should've gone to Specsavers. -

Monkfish may I ask what specs your machine has, and what settings you use? -

I think that's a sign you are getting the same issue I am, just not such bad results. My results seem to vary wildly though based on what I have seen doing this testing, even in the same place on the same server with the same number of people. -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
DarkwaveDomina replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
If you trust him then trust the team to finish it, he's picked them and he's trained them to take over for him eventually. -

I notice your GPU usage is 43%, do you use SLi/Crossfire or a single card? My GPU usage drops from 99% to about 50% in these troublesome towns and I linked a video earlier showing a guy with a beastly system getting the same problems, I believe it might be relevant to the problem at hand. P.S. I was there earlier and got the same FPS at 2560x1440, last night I got 18-23 there. I tried overclocking my RAM from 1333 to 1600 as somebody suggested it would help so hopefully that might be why. I'll report back later if my FPS there changes yet again because it seemed to be completely random when I was in Elektro. -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
DarkwaveDomina replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
If you actually read a word he's said since this announcement, you'll know that one reason he's leaving (aside from not being needed) is because he feels he's done enough in leading and instructing his team that he trusts them to finish the job and stick to his philosophy. He said he's worked hard to embed a certain culture in to the team. And god forbid he decide to profit from his intellectual property, it's not like it's standard business practice or anything. Seriously all this typical internet outrage is misguided, misdirected, and from a position of serious misunderstanding of the situation. -
It might be worth checking back now they have added 40 more servers, they tend not to be completely full all the time now. :D
-
That really depends on the server restarts. Sometimes I used to go on a full experimental that had been up for many hours and there'd be nothing to be found, on servers that reset every 2-4 hours obviously it's a lot easier to find loot.

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
DarkwaveDomina replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
He's just human, why do you have to be such a complete tool about it? Funnily enough his own god damn words, he's leaving at the end of the year because he sees a point coming where he won't be needed. -
I used to have this criticism of 1PP until I figured out which setting on the FOV slider gives the appropriate ratio. For those who don't know and would like to, it's dead centre (two clicks right of default on the arrows).

Experimental - New melee animation.
DarkwaveDomina replied to flygamer1's topic in General Discussion
It's a little awkward to get used to, but I see where they are going with it. It's nice to be able to show your intent by having the weapon raised or lowered in a proper manner like that as opposed to the completely weirdo version we had before. Now if only players gave a shit whether your weapon was lowered. <_< -

So what is the perfect multiplayer game Dean envisions?
DarkwaveDomina replied to hypermoon's topic in General Discussion
I doubt we will ever know. The problem with being a perfectionist is that you're never satisfied, I'm sure he'll make a bunch of great games in the future but I seriously doubt we'll ever see him say "yes, I did it, I made my perfect multiplayer game!!"
