A note to the constant cry babies
Icy954 replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
However, if you don't think the game is at least a little broken, you obviously haven't experienced hackers/scripters/exploiters. I could deal with more hacker reporting posts. 'Nuff said. Also note, you're one of many topics complaining about complainers. So why are you posting the same stuff every day? -
Hello. It is kind of funny how I found you. I had logged off from one server at the top of Devil's Castle a long while ago. When I logged back in on the most populated server of my choice I found your little 15+ man camp. Personally, I think you should have more guards next time. Or at least better ones. They were staring at each other for the longest time. I had also expected the calvary to charge in from a TS/vent alert. That didn't happen. I would have stuck around longer, but #55 kicked me for some reason (No I'm not a script kiddie). But hey, thanks for the equipment. Its a shame there were no vehicles to take. Regards, Icy954P.S. I left your AK74s and your Bizon because I really had no room for guns and mags. Nor did I have a vehicle to throw it in.

Thanks... I later saw 2 survivors walking around by the woods, but they must have saw me and disconnected before I could take a shot. lolthermalscope

Any tent towns on Skalisty?
Icy954 replied to petrstudik@seznam.cz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've found a few tents there sometimes, but no "cities". You will commonly find boats and PBXs there, so look around. There should be a jerry can on the island somewhere. -
Seems like yet another broken patch. Yay??

Personally what I do is launch the dayz solely through dayz commander, and I have a seperate icon for OA on my desktop. -
Alternative Launcher aside SixUpdater?
Icy954 replied to Camoplast's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ Commander. It's amazing, powerful, and has filters. So much better than Six. http://www.dayzcommander.com/ -
So I was looting around in Cherno, minding my own business. All of a sudden my game minimizes and when I try to reopen it I'm shot dead. I'm 90% sure I didn't hit the windows key, alt tab, etc. Coincidence? Hacking? Who knows? If you also find a new hack, script, or exploit that has been abused in game, feel free to discuss here (but please don't give us a tutorial on how to use them...).

Personally, I think zombies should be the following: 1. Harder to kill (in numbers) 2. Less buggy (obviously) 3. Not bone breaking I think zombies arent really enough of a threat, since most of the time there are only 1 or 2. However, if there were maybe 20 or 30 zombies together who aggro at once, zombies become a challenge.
-
I see what you did there. Lol

I was on NL 21 and I found a dog in Cherno. What sorcery is this? Screenie It is hard to see, but look just ahead of the zombie in the first door on the left, you will see a brown blotch. This is a german shepard. You may need to zoom in a bit, but I also saw it up close and it was definately a dog. I apologize for the bad picture, but I didn't want to get too close because obviously there is a guy with a gun right near it. They didn't do much, but they ran around in circles. I'm not sure if that meant they were fighting the zombie or just bugging out. It also did not attack me. So, could this have been wild or tamed by a player? Either way, this was a cool find. So was this a beta server? It still said 1.7.2.4, however I knew these were intended but not added yet. Or, could this have been a hacker/admin that obtained the dog file somehow?

Sniping is a major problem. Its not for the loot, its for the fun of it. No matter how you put it. If they at least looted you it wouldn't be as harsh as if all your gear went to waste.
-
You've played it for 12 hours. Okay, play some more and tell us what you find. Once you find your first hacker, there will be more. And more. And more. You'll then eventually see the full scope of scripting and hacking.

I was on US 1526 and some strange things happened. First off, as I just spawned and was hauling it to Elektro, I noticed the sky was literally on fire. As I approached Elektro, I noticed that there was a heli crash nearby, but no bodies or loot at all. Not even the sound of flies. However after leaving the site everyone on the server was killed instantly. Death after death was reported in the chat log. No, I did not hear any sniper rounds fired or even a bullet hitting the ground. I just died. As soon as I died it said I had lost connection to the host (a kick maybe?). What is going on?? As I've noticed, the reason most people try to respawn is because they are stuck in a town in the middle of nowhere when they first spawn. Not because they have a broken bone. I say this because one time I spawned in Kamenka and saw tons of dead people who were obviously trying to attract zombies. Of course, everyone wants to go to the cities to get the guns, right? Well, it might be more beneficial to adjust the spawned items in each town. So, people who spawn in Kamenka for example don't have to find the nearest zombie to get what they need to survive. Maybe a single home could be upgraded to medium value here and there, or high value even. No map changes are necessary. This could deal with the issue of "chosing" your spawn, and also provide realism by keeping the respawn button removed. The only problem would be with people trying to meet up with someone, which would be harder to fix. I just don't see why some towns are left dry of supplies and yet others are full of it simply because of population density. People are people, and they would still have similar supplies no matter where exactly they live on the map, unless you factor in wealth.

This map shows that some buildings of the same type have "better" loot coming from them, or at least a greater chance of them spawning. I never even thought about the sniping, which makes it in theory an even better idea.
-
Well, how would this effect PvP? Just because you crawled around in the dirt shouldn't mean you should have an aggro advantage.
-
No. Then it becomes a die-n-wait as you are most likely going to get sniped frequently. Plus you can't regain your gear after a while. On the other hand, server load times usually take 10 minutes anyways, so what difference would it make?

This game is centered on realism, not maximum shooting sprees. This isn't CoD. This

Okay, I spawned in the useless Krutoy Cap and so I decided to go for a swim across to the island. As a fresh spawn, I had nothing to lose, and running to any town seemed to be a lot longer. A couple minutes after swimming out I'm being shot at. After about 20 tries he hits and kills me in the water. Why? Its really pointless to A. shoot a fresh spawn B. shoot someone where you can't or won't loot them C. waste ammo on a fresh spawn AND risk being overtaken by zombies. I do not understand this. I was obviously no threat to him. What is this community turning into?

True, but technology will advance and provide tactical simulations with AI, similar to ARMA2 really. But if they want training in a video game there's single player for that...

"Blue on Blue" / "Check your Fire" messages
Icy954 replied to rebb's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I always thought it was how the zombie AI worked, but I guess not. Thought they communicated like a squad to chase people. -
At the expense of a fresh spawn? Seems rather cruel.
