Yes there is a huge difference between daytime and darkness with zed aggro. Always have an escape route ready as they are more than likely to see you at some point anyway in daylight. I always plan ahead what to do when they spot me, usually I just run into nearest barn or big apartment house with two exits. Zeds are actually very easy to lose or kill indoors, and they never hit you if you run double-time, so there´s no need to panic when they come after you. Deer stands are quite easy to loot with a little patience, Zeds almost always walk away from the stand if you wait a while.

So can this not be played alone?
Baka Survivor replied to cindyanne1's topic in New Player Discussion
To the OP, yes you can survive alone. I´m a lone wolf, currently on day 22. I never go to big cities, can just as well gear up in smaller places, deer stands and avoid other people. After spawning I stocked up on food and drinks from zeds on some farm, lured them following me in to the barn and axed them nicely to give me some supplies. Propably axed about 40 of them, got plenty of food and drinks, and then headed up towards polana supermarket raiding deer stands and small towns on the way. I´m fully equipped for survival, from deer stands I have M4A1 and M9SD, two morphines etc. Only two murders, both times felt I had no choice. I hang out mostly in Black forest region, raid Gorka, Polana, deer stands around Msta etc. Still looking for tent and binocs, maybe M14 AIM from a helicrash when I find one (have stocked 5 smoke granades for ninja raid). You could try sometimes evening time servers with moonlight, raiding towns is much easier, zeds can´t see shit. You can simply crouch walk through the town. I never go prone anymore, having broken bones too many times from that. Watch the towns from further away to see if there are zed spawns, it tells you if you are alone or if someone else is in the area. And always have an escape route ready, barns or apartments with two exits are best. -

Zombies alive/total: 0/0 wtf, you farm loot on empty servers or something? -
I feel really, really bad...

A douchebag move. Backstabbing cowards are the lowest of the low in my books. -
Am I a bully or was this justice?

I approve killing asshole bandits on sight. Good job. Should have looted them though and buried their bodies. -
Safe zone where you could trade stuff and meet other survivors would be great. I´m thinking like the Bar in Stalker. Without hackers and server hopping ghosters ruining it with ease this could be done in a game already. Freeside traders are trying to do something like this from time to time, no?

Fix this deathmatch junk
Baka Survivor replied to =ATS= Striker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hoards of gear allows you to engage in high risk operations without catastrophic repercussion. For different player types it means different things. For a friendly player it means he can afford to be more friendly, to try his luck more with unknown people. For douchebag it means he can afford to make suicide runs griefing others. For clans it means they can do whatever the hell they want, usually farm high-risk/high-value loot and drive around in vehicles hunting survivors for some PvP-action. -
Fix this deathmatch junk
Baka Survivor replied to =ATS= Striker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I´ve been thinking about this and actually its a double edged sword. Yes, hoarding weapons in tents and vehicles makes permadeath inconsequential and encourages carefree deathmatch mentality. But also, if you haven´t got a back-up gear and have gotten yourself a decently geared character through a lot of work, it makes you paranoid and cautious, because you don´t want to lose it all to some PvP-douchebag kid. Hence you shoot everybody on sight. I don´t have back-up gear in tents, so I don´t trust anybody for fear of having to start over. But if I had back-up gear, maybe I actually might take more risks in trying to be friendly, knowing that i likely would get shot. I think overall this deathmatch bs going on is largely an age thing, Dayz being popular with run-and-gun FPS culture kids, more mature players usually seem to go for more co-op and rpg style. When the kids get bored and move on to the next flavour of the month, things may change. -
ARMA 2 Real Life Hiking Simulator
Baka Survivor replied to Jourmand1r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I know dyslexia is usually comorbid with ADHD, but if you would have actually read and understood my post you would have noticed I never said roaming around the map requires special skills or makes the game hard. I said you are supposed to work a little extra for your gear, not have it handed to you immediately. Yes, it usually means travelling long distances too. Often without vehicles. It takes planning and patience. It takes time. Thats one reason why permadeath has a meaning in this mod, its supposed to be tedious to get started again. Why am I not suprised that you suggest a deathmatch with me, and I even have to give a gun for you, lol. -
ARMA 2 Real Life Hiking Simulator
Baka Survivor replied to Jourmand1r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So basically OP is only complaining because he can´t get good gear quickly or immediately after respawn. He is essentially complaining that the mod makes him work pretty hard for his "decent loot". At leats he wants a car at respawn to get quickly to lootspots, lol. And if you tell him this mod is supposed to be a pretty hardcore survival game, you´re an elitist douchebag. Truth is, this mod is not and will not be catering to people who constantly need instant gratification, who have no patience for delayed reward that you have to work a little extra for. Long distances and scarce loot are not bugs or flaws, but strengths of this mod. It makes the game immersive and rewarding for those who have the patience for it. There are other games for kids who need insta-gratification or else they get annoyed or bored. -

1st Person vs. 3rd Person
Baka Survivor replied to BuddyMcFriend's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can turn the head bobbing off from the game menu. -
Let´s say person who saves the tent last gets the ownership of the gear. You could try to save the tents within the time limit, or it would be gone. Not perfect, but better than current system imo where permadeath is quite irrelevant.
-
Thats an excellent point, there should be something like short 5-10 minute timer before its gone. Same as the player corpse.

1st Person vs. 3rd Person
Baka Survivor replied to BuddyMcFriend's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I never play on servers with 3rd person on. It gives you the ability to see around corners or over the fences without exposing yourself. Thats not hardcore enough for my tastes. You can use the alt-key for looking around in 1st person too when travelling. -
I agree, but I don´t like the fact that stashes don´t disappear when you die. I like the idea of having your own campsites with ability to store loot, but only wihin the life of the current character. When he dies, it should all be gone and you would really have to start from beginning again.
-
Not to mention that POS is horrible inaccurate. I tried to shoot a goat on a field with it for some stakes, propably from 20 meters, all my 5 shots missed. You have to be literally couple of meters away to hit anything with it. But it is silent, has a 15 round clip, so i guess its better than Makarov.

Permadeath and fear of losing all your hard earned gear is an essential feature of this mod. It is one big reason this mod able to elicit such intense emotions in players. Therefore I would not only like to see duped tent cities wiped, but a change in game mechanics so that all the gear that player has hoarded in tents or vehicles would vanish for good when his character dies. I don´t see any reason why you can hoard stuff with your current character, die, and then run with a new character to the tent of your previous "life" and pick up the gear. It takes away the point of permadeath, the thrilling aspect of balancing the risks between survival and scavengin for loot and just reinforces the juvenile deathmatch mentality, imo.
