Open Bag Button hidden under Filter
@ndreas replied to Bender_PSNHu6da1of's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
... now I am curious... what about a PM then? With "the game" you mean which parts of the game? Any DLCs, ArmA Free, whatever... as I never have seen the green GUI anywhere else. Edit: did some research, another guy plays it on laptop too, has ArmA OA and ArmA Free and the same GUI-color: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/9961-video-options-messed-up/ -

... if you refer to me, I have no good news for you :( Whatever option/combination I choose, I could not reproduce anything comparable. Which version is your friend playing? Because my inventory is brownish and not green like hers (never was green for me)? Does she use any add-ons that manipulate the GUI-color? My Debug-monitor also looks a little different than your friend's, my listed informations are centered, not left-justified. Whatever that causes, will probably cause the messing with missing buttons too. And could you make her a screen of her video options tab (including the advanced options). -

... it's surely game-related, not launcher-related, so that would change nothing, as the launchers don't alter ingame-code/graphics IMHO. As you can see, there still is the OPEN-button just left beneath the TAKE-button, and not highlighted, only half-written/-shown. I think it depends on her GUI-settings and maybe resolutions. I am currently trying to reproduce the problem, I'll tell you what I will eventually find out. -
... it would mean that we are actually start to play with the sand that is put into our sandbox instead of stealing the shovels and buckets of other kids :)
-
... switch back to page 1, you heard it from me first ;) But nevertheless, I'd really like that this kind of things would actually happen (including forming some kind of rescue squad and the likes, that is 100% more DayZ than any stupid KoS, ALT+F4-behavior out there)!!!
-
... if that should not be true, it at least is a good piece of fan-fiction ;)
-
... dying to asshole-snipers happens from time to time, at least if the little wankers get their hands steady enough on their gun to deliver killing shots. The only annoying fact regarding this little issue is the long loading time while waiting for the new life :)
-
... it isn't "unfair" per se, that's why I put it in brackets - if you want, just read my sentence without the word in brackets. You can think yourself and make up your own opinion, I am sure ;)

... I bought ArmA2:CO only for the mod too (Steam Summer Sale) and haven't regretted it yet. It's really fun, if you are into sandbox-games and able to set yourself goals to reach and if you are comfortable with permadeath-experiences (and of course meeting a lot of head-counting little snipers with no more imagination how to play the game besides KoS). Best played with friends IMHO.

... helpful hints indeed. And since the first "Quake"-player turned down every effect and texture-render to be faster on target than his opponent, reducing details to get (unfair) advantage commenced. Unless it is coded into the game to be not alterable at all, some will eventually do it. I prefer nice optics over x-ray-vision, but that will cause additional deaths, so everyone has to make up this for themselves.

[1.7.1.5] Bodies Disappearing WAY TOO QUICKLY
@ndreas replied to darkdavid08@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
... I'd like to have a method installed that prevents ALT-F4-quitting (either with delay or, while being dead, letting your loot stay). But the last few days every corpse (including mine) stayed longer than 30 mins, so it looks like being compeltely random... cO -
... yesterday in a row: two camps with some sniper rifles and Fn Fal-mags and then... an ATV with 20 jerry cans, a Fn Fal-nightvision, an M4A1 CCO, some other guns, three tents, machine parts for ATV repair, some meds (don't remember all, because we mounted and drove full throttle outta there to hide it properly). Was a lucky night I'd say :)

Debug Monitor disappearing randomly while playing
@ndreas replied to XAM's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
... got the same problem a few days ago while looting a city. Debug monitor was gone and everything I looted, was gone as I connected again (changed server to meet a friend). Also my position was "reset" several meters from where I disconnected, I was still shaking under pain (although I had taken the painkillers before relogging. I also had the feeling before disconnecting, that I am fairly alone and out of danger somehow (Zeds seemed to not look that me, but not sure about that, as I usually can avoid Zeds while looting towns, and the pathfinding of Zeds nevertheless go to the clients machine). For me it looked like a huge desync between client (me) and server. After reconnecting everything seemed fine again. -
Getting a BSOD minutes into spawning in
@ndreas replied to Indy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
... since using Win XP I never encountered a BSOD again, now I use Win 7, haven't had any of them yet, only freezes. But the heat could be the cause for your BSOD, you may want to look at your mainboards temperature, because that is some bottleneck (most BIOSs have clean shut-down enabled for CPU-overheating, and nowadays GPUs tolerate a lot of heat, so often the northbridge is the compound that causes a freeze due to overheating - every hot compound in you PC, especially GPU and RAM, can lead to overheating the mainboard. You should not get temperatures on your mainboard near 60°C, better stay around 50°C or a freeze will be likely occur. -
Cannot recommend that (apart from the "Click", but that alone won't help) :P

... thx. I am not sure if the loading problem is completely solved, as I played on another server this afternoon, but the loading was really fast then.
-
Stuck at Loading; I have tried all troubleshooting I could find.
@ndreas replied to luke1500@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
... I have that "Loading"-screen not last "forever", but several minutes (up to 5 and more) for several days now. All versions (DayZ, ArmA2, ArmA:OA, BE) are matching with the server and up-to-date, but still loading takes huge amounts of time. My guess is, that it is a Hive-communication-related problem, as I run into lots of loot places where no loot spawned yet lately (which is also communication with Hive to generate the loot, as I was told yesterday). Unfortunately I have no solution to tell... and dying is really only annyoing because it means I have to stare at a black Loading-screen for another 5 minutes again :( -
... there is only a 32-bit-version, an it shows v1.62 but on the News-register it says current version v1.167 - seems strange to me. Apart from that, I am using Win7 64bit, will it work though?
-
Why does it take forever to load and get ingame?
@ndreas replied to Hitback's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
... I experience a similar problem for a few days now. The "Loading"-message really lasts very long now, especially after having to start a new live, but also when logging into an existing live. But it wasn't near that length a week ago... that is the only thing that makes getting shot so annoying. -

Bodies (or at least their loot) should disappear much quicker
@ndreas replied to kander's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
... I don't know what causes a corspe to despawn, as the last day every corpse in the game seemed to stay forever, but days ago every corpse despawned in very little time (hit the search, you will get threads about that, and I don't talk about ALT+F4-quitting, just regular deaths with a corpse). So that seems to be strangely randomized to me how long corpses lay there... at least I have no explanation. -
[From a bandit] You suck, your attitude is wrong and need to GTF over it
@ndreas replied to Creambomb's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
... first of all: dying in DayZ is only so annoying due to the long loading times you experience often while waiting for another life to spawn. But though OP listed some good points (well elaborated too, so I shared some beans), I disagree with his statement that with lack of endgame goal the game leads you to kill (you may call it hunt) other players. Shooting around out of boredom is but a lame excuse. I think you don't get the idea/meaning of the term "sandbox game" right! "Sandboxes" provide not goal to achieve out of themselves. Playing in a "sandbox" is only as much fun as you by yourself are able to provide goals/challenges. Killing players as goal is a valid choice, but don't try to explain/excuse it with lack of endgame/boredom, just admit to it. "Sandboxes" are not boring, you are boring. If the game provides no more interesting options other than "killing out of boredom", then, Sir, maybe "you suck, your attitude is wrong and need to GTF over it!" :) -
Becoming your typical FPS PvP game?
@ndreas replied to nzcanucksteven@gmail.com's topic in New Player Discussion
... the "problem" is that you can hop servers with your gear whenever you want. If you were forced to stay with your complete character on one server, you would probably think about being the guy that jumps around for fun, shooting whatever runs along. Eventually your server would know who you are, where you hide and could decide to chase you down, so server population could keep their world as "clean" as they like it to be. But by being able to hop servers fully equipped (even while engaged, which is clearly cheating/exploiting as well), your actions don't have a real consequence, because you will not meet the same players every time and if you die, equipment is fairly easily obtained if you are only out there for killing spree. So there should be something implemented that forces you to stay on one server with your character (like your tents and vehicles do) and for those who equip twinks on other servers maybe a limit of say max. three characters (I'd prefer only two, just for being able to play if your home server is down) being alive at once on different servers. I really think you would see a decrease in silly killing then. -
