The Current State Of Zombies.
@ndreas replied to Strategos (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
... I choose option #10: I am experienced and think, Zombies (at least their movement) are shitty scripted :) -
... nice story to tell, I especially like the part about running around like panicking chickens ;) It's hard to keep cool thinking while under fire, I know that from personal experience, when all tactical thinking is overrided by the desire to be just out of harm's way. But you finally got the bandit and gave him what he deserved - beans for you all!
-
... and how would that then be different from any PvP arena game with objective goals?
-
... I'd recommend removing the bullets out of his gun. You don't want an explosive dessert :)

How we run UK105, And why we don't have hackers.
@ndreas replied to DatenThielt's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
... as in every PvP game I have ever played, some people tend to shout "hacker" if they encounter things that look strange or meet guys that seem way too overpowered (because they have great skill). "Wait, those guys killed me instantly while being covered from all sides? They must be hackers!1111" I don't say that happens every time, but I experienced a lot of that "false alarms" just due to the fact that not enough knowledge about game mechanics and tactical team-play existed. -
Real men (and 1 girl) vs Hackers n Choppas US500 server
@ndreas replied to TehMikaL's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
... nice shot on the first heli pilot. Sounds like you had a good amount of fun, and it actually proves that script kiddies have tiny balls ;) -
... yep, I won't say otherwise. I only can advise to not let those low-style players ruin the fun of the game for you. Everytime one cheats or uses exploits or lame tactics to beat you, see it as compliment: they were no even opponents and did it out of fear of death :)
-
Please use the term "QQ" in proper circumstances. Apart from that, no game will ever make me cry (except from those rare tears I drop out of pity with some players) ;)
-
... obviously not al helis have same tank volume (smaller ones about 100, betting up). It's hard to say for me what would be realistic as I don't know the model that is used ingame. 100+ jerry cans sounds a little too much nevertheless.

Duck off who claims to be saints here.
@ndreas replied to Param1990's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
... please don't call that guy a "hacker", as you clearly misuse the term! "Script kiddy" fits better in every way. A real "hacker" would have known why he seemed to be global banned and what to do to work around it. In almost 100% of cases where gamer communities call someone a hacker, he isn't even near being one! Do some research and find out, what a real hacker is/can achieve. Thx! (and FYI, no, I am not considering myself being a hacker) -
... as sure as it is lame to server-hop to achieve any advantages/and kills, as sure it is that those "victories" are only something to frown upon. Those guys must have had a lot of fear and were no match for you if they need to achieve the kills by cheating (and that obviously is cheating if it happened like you told). Find solace by the thought of them being little cowards without the skill to meet you in even firefight and get a new life (in DayZ) if you were killed ;)

I keep losing my stuff when I disconnect from servers.
@ndreas replied to Varnix's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
... taking Solaris' response into account, under what circumstances do you disconnect from a server? Can you elaborate further? No offense intended, but if you disconnect while being shot at and probably get killed, you will start with a new character, I suppose. -
The "Official" FIX on trust in DayZ
@ndreas replied to Bladez 0f Fury's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
... I would love that for sure! Not because I shoot at friends (used to play RO2, only identifying by uniform prevents you from using a trigger on every sight of a player), but I like the "trust"-option it would provide when encountering a player. -
[1.7.1.5] Bodies Disappearing WAY TOO QUICKLY
@ndreas replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
... I yesterday had two similar experiences and may share them: A friend and me were approaching a village and heard shots in the barn. Another player, obviously. We approach to get a conversation going after a short time of waiting only to see that poor guys brain being eaten by a Zed sitting on his corpse near one door. We entered through the opposite door and looted the barn, waiting the zed to finish feasting to get to loot the corpse ourselves. It could not have been more than 2 or 3 minutes, as the corpse suddenly disappeared - sad, but ok (I remembered someone saying using ALT+F4 leaves no corpse to loot, but why should that guy have done that, as the corpse already laid there, so I don't think that is the solution). Later that evening I got shot by a sniper after covering my friend's approach to a factory site and then proceeding to meet him there while he covers me. After I was shot at on open field I made the mistake not to run but to go prone, which lead to my death. My friend spotted the snipers for revenge while watching my body to prevent them from easy looting (which they would not do as I had clearly visible nothing valuable with me). I got another life to meet him. A moment later he told me that my corpse already despawned. Could it be that at the very moment you are loaded at the coast with a new life your old corpse vanishes and is that intended? (if so, that is kind of cool as it make shooting for gear far less valuable). -
... oh yeah, let's take the e-peen comparison from the game to the forum :) Did you finally realize that shooting (harmless) players pose you no satisfying reward ingame and do you need some claps for being a hero of the gun? ;) You won't get them from me...
-
... some helicopters can hold up to 1000 litres, so its normal fueling a heli with jerry cans will take a while. And it is ok, important thing about flying a heli is thinking about the PONR (point of no return).

I have matches, I have a jerry can.
@ndreas replied to Biggus (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
... pyromaniacs on the run! Honestly, I thought about that myself yesterday :) -
LAN Character to Internet Character?
@ndreas replied to PointlessPerson's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
... don't be afraid to start another character. I can assure you, if you play this game longer, you will start a new character on REGULAR basis :) -
Bandit Skins and Civi skin update.
@ndreas replied to Bladez 0f Fury's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
... "reward" for killing players? You are sure you are playing the right game? :) If there should be a reward related to killing players, it for sure should reward avoid killing players, as this is in every case harder and takes more skill then just to unload a gun in any survivor you see wandering across your sights! Helping players out with meds could/should unlock a medic skin for example, and getting shot at and escaping (not by disconnecting of course) should get you camouflage items. But in no way should being a (lame-ass) camper-sniper get you even more clothes to cowardly hide and snipe. Work for the ghillie suit by risking your precious life achieving it and not for shooting unequipped players near the coast! :) -
Name your good deed of the day.
@ndreas replied to Fefe (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
...@Strikers: sad to hear that, but sadly you can't assume a new character being a noob, even if he says so. In my experience one has to die only two or three times until one gets the idea of the game and how to get starter equipment. So equipping new players is not really needed (and in fact dangerous, as you may confirm). This game will be played by sportsmen and *insert insulting name for misbehaving players with fun in ruining other players' day* nevertheless, the idea is to have fun with the sportsmen and ignore the other guys. Eventually most snipers will go back to games where sniping is rewarded more. It tends to be better on veteran servers with no crosshair, as all the silly FPS-killing spree-"kids" (of every age) don't have that much fun in not so easy shooting. BTT: My good deed for today was taking a trip to Cherno to loot some things a friend was in need and too far away to do it himself. Not very heroic but at least only some Zeds got hurt. -
... I would give you a needed transfusion for the sake of being a survivor also, but you don't know me neither do I know you, so it is always a risk (obviously having only 3.5k blood will kill you sooner or later (obviously sooner), so you have all to win and nothing to loose. But your best bet would be to call in a trusted medic, as he has sufficient meds, skills and won't do anything to you that would harm you.

... and the funny part was...?
-
... nothing against a good challenge, but the erractic and aprupt behaviour most zeds show after you got their aggro is just looking ridiculous laggy and zig-zaggy and does in no ways resemble any enemy approach in any FPS game I ever played (even fast games like the original Quake series have at least trackable line of movements and not that cartoon-like cross-hopping). In addition with a somewhat unresponsive FPS-perspective (I'd play in 1st person-view the whole time if the shaking would not annoy my sense of balance while traversing through miles of forest) it get's mostly a matter of luck to hit them often enough before they eat your brains. So having a bunch of them charging after you is serious pain, I agree. I understand why lots of players just shoot survivors. They are easier loot and less dangerous (not that I would say I like that, but I can understand).

... apparently because most programs don't do a really clean uninstall. Maybe some registry entries with the key are still present. Two solutions I can think of: #1: if one of you has a system reset point (set in Windows) from before your FIRST installation, use it to reset one of your laptops. CAUTION: you will also loose any other alteration to your system you made after the chosen reset point. #2: uninstall the game and then start a tool like RegClean to fix remaining registry entries. In both ways, after that you have to install the game anew, be sure to use the other copy (not the copy one of you already uses on his laptop). If you want to make completely sure, use step #1 or #2 on BOTH machines. I would think that could fix it.

... not heard about that yet. I only know you have no HD-textures if you are only owning OA and Arma2 Free. Having CO should pretty much leave you with HD graphics.
