You know, in a real zombie apocalypse
CLewis replied to fluffyg's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wooow! I'm sorry, but that is the worst argument ever... Your saying that fictional movies are a guideline to what would happen? Is this only regarding apocalypses, or is that for fictional moviesgeneral? -
I'm not completely sure about this, but isn't the hive where the devs collect all their data from? If it is then private hives would mean alot less data, wich is very valuable for the future of the game. Not sure, but I think I heard that somewhere.

Encouraging "good guys" to be good, and "bad guys" to be bad? This might not be a bad idea...

So you're saying: you got killed---> made a thread about it--->people made fun of you--->now you killed (in a scumbag way)--->made a thread about that--->people say you're a scumbag--->you made a thread about all of the above. If you want peoples approval, try helping others in the game. Just an idea... Ps. Welcome to the internet.

Familiarity Player Identification (Bandit/Trade "solution")

Give us Pve only servers...
CLewis replied to Gareth_Sims (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, I laughed at this threads title. I laughed because it was obvious that it would get replies by people who read the title, clicked it with eyes blodstained by rage, and didn't read the OP. Trolls being trolled by a troll...Good stuff. I support the idea of PvE servers seperated from the main hive, and I'm pretty sure it is going to happen eventually. EDIT: 360 views in an hour. Impressive... -
Hackers - What you need to know.

Well done, very informative. Ps. Quoting one person (of the many who writes those posts) in your thread, is a bit of a dick move. Just saying. -
7. Someone Alt+F4'ed on me

Kills that are not fair: -Killed by someone with a dup'ed weapon. -Killed by someone who looted him self, because his friends guarded his body. -Killed by someone who gained a tactical advantage by using external communication.

[From a bandit] You suck, your attitude is wrong and need to GTF over it

If you make the cities to hard, a lot more would choose to snipe around the cities, I think. No reason to risk it, when someone can do it for you.

Decreasing PvP killing / Promoting Trade
CLewis replied to TigersEye's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't think it would help the KoS problem ( yes, it is a problem to many, whether you think it is or not), but I think it would be a good idea anyways. The looting of your own body, is making death nothing more than an inconvenience to many. -
Stereotypical American - Check...

I think the matches should be very common, and maybe the animals more rare. Maybe some farms that spawn cows (like hospitals spawn bloodpacks), and less roaming animals that you can eat.

Player Identification and Classification System
CLewis replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
First of, I think this is a great idea and is something that is missing in the game. I (like many others) have had ideas along those lines too, but with some tweeks: I think memory should be timed. The memory time could be 10,20 or 30 hours or something (tested by devs and players for balance). I also think that memories should fade after the first meeting (unless you stay within a certain distance), but be "recharged" every time you meet. I really like the idea of permadeath, and think that death should suck balls. Keeping the memories after death would be more to my likeing, but either way is good to me. If you only remember those you tagged as friendly, it wouldn't really have a negative impact on bandits, i.e. no punishment for killing you (wich is good). For this to work then if someone kills you, who you had tagged as friendly, the tag would automaticly be cleared. This way loners have just a little bit of help with trusting strangers, and groups would be able to recognize each other. (Win-win?) A little bit of gamey elements, to create a somewhat realistic recognizion system. Just my thoughts. EDIT: @Heiduk I like your ideas. They would fit in well with the realism/authentisity the game/community is looking for. Remembering the killer is a hard one to sell, because many would see it as a punishment for a certain behavior. -
Copy-pasted (small adjustments) from an identical thread: It might be an idea to, instead of the friendly fire agreement, you had the option to identify yourself. If both agree to this, a small form of icon/name or something would show when you look at that person, if visible (not through trees, walls etc.). The distance of id'ing each other could be between 50 to 100 meters or so. Once both had agreed the icon would show for "x" time. This would meen that you could recognize someone you know or have met before. How far away you should be able to recognize someone would be maybe a bit longer then the first meeting. This would benefit groups/clans as much as the loners. It would also meen that you would know if someone has dobblecrossed you before. Considering that in real life you are able to recognize people you know/ have met this isn't really a "gamey" solution, and I think it could work. (The distances and time should be balanced through trial and error, by devs and us alpha-testers). Just an idea. Don't know if it's even original, or if it has been suggested before.

I don't think you need to worry. Seeing as the ARMA engine is fairly easy to make mods for (I think), someone will most likely do this if it's not an option in the stand-alone. Everyone should be happy then. Ps. Telling other people what they should think is fun, that's just a bit weird...

'Realism' arguments need to be left out
CLewis replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That is not true... Arma 2 is a game based on a military simulator, but a game non the less. That's why it already has a lot of "gamey" features in it. -
'Realism' arguments need to be left out
CLewis replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
IMO the problem with the reality argument is that everyone uses it to suit there own interests. -An idea that isen't 100% realistic always get the "this is a simulator, not a game" type of responses. These responses are always met with "but x-thing isn't realistic either" type of responses. -An idea that wants to remove something realistic, always get the "it's a game" type of responses. The "in real life I would...." is pretty much bs in my eyes. Sitting comfortably in front of your pc playing games, gives you no idea of how you would react. -
Is it now the "carebears" who are doing the KoS'ing? And the cause of hackers? That I did not know. You seem to have misunderstood something...

Troll! Why do people whine about whining? Why do people whine about suggestions? Why do people start these threats about other peoples opinions, every goddamn day? "QQ some more" "If you don't like reading suggestions GTFO, go read Lucky Luke"
