Looking for more people to play DayZ with..
Shotgun Master replied to xXxSlyWolfxXx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Have you no humanity!? :( But here's a hint: Don't kill them when they have no weapons, it usually means that they just spawned. The trick is to FOLLOW them. Then when they.... A: Meet up with a friend -> You kill them and take both of their stuff. B: Finally find a gun -> You kill them and take their stuff. C: Get lost -> You kill them in mercy, then use their food so you live long enough to return to a town (I nearly said "return to civilization"). D: Go around a corner -> You follow them and get an axe to the forehead. (My personal favourite is D) -
City and Town Lighting
Shotgun Master replied to xTLRxPrototype (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The idea is awesome, and I think it would probably increase the popularity of playing on servers at night. Also, I'm not sure how the game works exactly, but is there a way to make another entity (like a car) to be the generator, and then when it is on, it turns on lights (which could just be modified flares) that are placed in the lampposts. That way the map wouldn't need to be modified, just small objects placed on it. If fuel is needed to get the generator working, it should last a while, since lights don't need much power to run, and the generator should become a spawn point for lots of zombies, which would make sense, and also provide the generator with protection from bandits. One last thing, since the city is lit up and the countryside is dark, it should attract more zombies (spawn them outside the city, then have them walk in) to make it more dangerous (it IS still night time after all). -
Thank you. Thank you for killing them and (hopefully) teaching them a lesson. Although I don't think you would have survived if that player you sniped around the corner had been aiming at the corner (seriously, what was he doing just standing there?) and shot as soon as he saw your head pop out. Also, what servers do you use (Country)?

I agree with bringing the chat back, but I also think there needs to be changes made to bandits. As it is there is no reason why you would NOT become a bandit, since it IS a valid play style, everyone dies really easily from most guns, and some will have stockpiled supplies and ammo you need. There needs to be perks to staying friendly, or disadvantages to being a bandit (or changes so that the gameplay mechanics are DIFFERENT for them). For example, you could make it so that when you kill an innocent player, it affects you psychologically. It could be made so as you kill more, your player becomes more paranoid, and as your level of paranoia increases, some side-affect will also increase, like screen blurriness, volume of the zombies sounds or the amount your weapon shakes (not heaps, just enough to notice). Another idea would be to make it so when you choose whether your character is male or female, you could also be able to choose if it will be friendly or a bandit. Then you can start with a skin depending on which you choose, and for every HUMAN kill as a bandit you could get some bonus, like in STEALTH  (how easily zombies can see you / how hard it is to hear you), and for every ZOMBIE kill as a friendly, you get a bonus to SPEED. Also, the title was a downright lie, no excuses. Yes, it was misleading, but it was still a lie nonetheless.

BRING BACK BANDIT SKIN PETITION
Shotgun Master replied to Lucifer Dream's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well, until there are better gameplay mechanics, the skin is a really good idea. But make it more like a ghillie suit, so there's actually a valid reason as to why someone would wear it (but not as good as a ghillie suit, and you could make it more urban themed). This would actually give you a reason trust someone, because if they have army type weapons and all that, and don't have the bandit skin, they will most likely be friendly.
