Giving people more options is always a good thing in my book. However, from most of what I see, Rocket only wants people to play his vision of the game (hence, not allowing pve servers).

This topic creator is obviously an employee of the company making The War Z.

Actually, that type of gameplay is what makes this game. This game is all about ultra-realism, and in real life, there are backstabbers. The need to be cautious of them is a driving force in this game.

Delete the whole can't shoot each other thing and I'd be for it. We just need a way to communicate our intentions better.

Please do this.

Failure to communicate=paranoid deathmatch

These are all great ideas. Side chat definitely helps the shoot-on-sight mentality that most players seem to have these days, but it's too unrealistic, and you need to be way too close for direct communication. A "shout" channel would easily compensate for both of these problems. Or just increase the radius of direct communication. -
"containers" instead of loot piles

I like the idea only for the sake of adding realism. I still think items should also spawn loosely on the ground for the excitement of seeing something that you haven't seen before and then figuring out what it is. -
Because their speed wouldn't change so drastically. I guess you could argue that the specific zombies of DayZ DO act like that, but DayZ seems to be working off of the well-established concept of zombies that we see in movies and other games, and I've never seen any other zombies get as confused when they enter a building or walk up a hill as they do in DayZ.

I agree with the OP. In fact I think we should be able to choose our spawn point. That would make it easier for people who are playing with friends, and people who want to stay away from pvp areas.

Well I'm basing this on going into an RP server in WoW many years ago and seeing that everyone there was indeed following the rules (talking in character). I believe it could work in DayZ. Maybe RP characters and normal characters could be in separate databases, so there would be no reason for non-RPers to come in to loot stuff knowing you'd be less likely to shoot back.

I don't see why this idea would be unpopular. The single biggest complaint I see is that the current state of PVP is annoying at best, and completely turns people off from the game at worst. This would be a way to put people who share those sentiments all on the same server and give them a better playing experience. To those who say they WOULD shoot people on site IRL, that's great and would help retain the current intensity of coming across survivors. The point of my suggestion is that MOST people are not like that in real life, and this is something that could make the game better reflect that.
