Agreed, I was at NEAF with a group of friends, while we were looting we came under fire from a sniper at the NE hill, my friends took shelter in the police station/jail while I was stuck in the ATC tower keeping a lookout towards the hill. Ofcourse I had eyes on the staircase aswell and direct contact with my friends via TeamSpeak. All of a sudden my buddies start panicking down below, "There's a gun sticking out of the wall", someone had spawned into the top room where none of my friends had gone into because of the windows facing the hill. One of my friends opened the door and bang, a shot from the hill, dead. Another of my friends managed to kill the guy inside the room and closed the door again. All this was happening while I was still at the ATC tower, I had seen the shot from the hill and proceeded to take shots at the location with my M4 Acog. I saw a figure run off into the woods but did'd reveal myself quite yet. A little while later I got shot at again from up the hill, once again we scouted safely for his location but this time his budy spawned in behind me, without me noticing, I had eyes on the staircase and forward towards the hill but he spawned on the outside of the ATC tower, by the railing and shot me dead in the back, his friend on the hill had eyes on me and told him where to spawn. Without any warning I had been ghosted and killed due to firstly, the ability to ghost, the no sound and lastly ofcourse my own fault for not checking my behind often enough. All in all, we lost two men due to the ability to spawn in wherever you wish unnoticable. -

This is intentionally done so that people may recognise eachother as nonehostile, with the weapon lowered you are ready for a fight but it's not as if you are aiming at someone the instant you see them which reduces the KoS mentality in theory. -
I don't really understand this "rare" thing everyone is saying on the forums, I find 2-3 riders jackets almost every playsession(about 4 hours) and I can't even count how many respirators I've left behind. Even the so called rare stab vest or press vest is a quite common sight around the northern parts, I see atleast one a day. Aside from the riders jacket which looks awsome the rest are kinda useless with no inventory slots, and the press vest makes you look fat :D

US 3279- Hardcore 199.241.136.10: 2302 Been playing it all week, with the new patch it´s a great server with the perfect difficulty and good people. I play from the EU but connection is great and haven´t experienced any lagg whatsoever. -
Well, his server is what his type of players want, including myself and alot more of us in peak times, you can´t compare his 2 players online right now, yeah there might be but it´s also mid day in the US and his server doesn´t call for the stay at home 12 year old KoS players. The guy is running a server at a difficulty far higher than yours and is probably doing it because that´s what HE want´s, why shouldnt he, it´s his server and he is paying for it, even if there were 0 players online he might still want to play it on his server which he knows is stable and well maintained aswell as offering the difficulty he likes. You sound like a proper english cunt and your server currently has 15 players and according to statistics had 8 players averege last month.

There are a large variety of items in our surounding every day that could be used as non lethal weapons, blunt force to the head sure can kill but in many cases it just ends up with a concussion.

Why not tipped darts? If you can find all sorts of medical stuff at the hospital you might find some stong anesthetics(drugs) that in a large dose knock you out a little while. This could even be added to the crafting table as manipulating food and placing it back out in spawns together with other cans. Other options would be guns similar to the winchester that don´t kill you but knock you out, you could have remington beanbags which wouldn´t even leave your "victim" bleeding. Tazers are a given, they would only be usefull up to a few meters from your target but sometimes that is more than enough, coming around a corner and panicking at a stranger wouldn´t mean that you kill that person, you would then have the option to do what you wish with him/her. And since we already have alot of military loot why not add gas canisters with teargas/sleeping gas, alot of those might have been left behind in the wake of the riots when the public found out about the outbreak. Non-lethal definately needs to be put in this game, we alrady have the hero option and a hero should be able to defend himself without having to do the morally wrong thing.

You try to make it out as we are wishing the game to be dumbed down and easier for us when in fact we are looking for solutions to make the game harder and more enjoyable by the real hardcore players, by making suggestions that expand the game mechanics and increase the immersion for players it becomes harder for murderers, because you know what, being a murderer is the EASY way of playing the game, a monkey with a gun can kill others in this game while actually surviving in groups is a hell lot harder. You have alot to learn about your mentality and alot can be learned from playing the game in a group, both about yourself and things in real life. It´s stupid to say this but: There are alot more games that build on KoS mechanics, not many focus on the real meaning for desperation and team play so to say to someone "play another game" is wrong, it´s the KoS people who should play an other game because thay are just in it for brainless, stupid action. -

Been reading this thread trough and first off I´d like to ask dgeesio, without actually trying to offend the person, to touch up his/hers english reading skills because it looks to me, as a 3rd person watching this discussion that you(dgeesio) do not at all understand what your counterpart is trying to tell you, or you simply choose to ignore it. On to the real issue, yes KoS is a big problem, it´s not how the mod or the game were intended to be played I am sure of it. Ofcourse Dean meant for there to be banditry and murders in the mod but not to this degree and the reason to that is that the mod is to simple, without proper goals and rewards once you have the gear you need to survive(which you can find in under an hour). I am certain some mechanics in the Standalone are there to prevent such an extended KoS mentality, such as the item damage but also the fact that there are no blood bags pre-filled with blood and that all blood is not universal, meaning you have to find a player with your type if you wish to transfuse, if they make it so that you can not take blood from dead people then that´s and incentive to make contact with strangers and team up in before raiding high risk areas in case you need blood quickly. Another mechanic is the lowered gun which can help players read the atmosphere better than currently where you don´t really know if the person next to you is thinking about doing something unexpected. These things in combination with less real high end military loot and reduced ammo spawns should make people think twice about firing that one or two bullets which you have(as it should be) searched for for several hours. The game is to easy as it is and needs to be alot harder before people see the advantage of surviving in a group. All this talk about not punishing murder is not fair, why shouldn´t the game punish murderers ? There are very few in real life who can kill a person and not suffer any consequence, be it by police in a civilized world or psychical in a savage one. "Heroes" are punished in their gameplay as to taking enormous risks for the sake of others and most of all for the sake of the game, they chose to be an active part in the solution instead of going with the flow of "it can´t be changed" or "it´s human nature", sure it is human nature for some to become savages and kill anything but so is (real world) human nature to suffer the consequences of that savagery. Excuse my sentancebuilding as english is not my mothertongue either. -

Playing from Sweden, hard to come by great Hardcore servers and we also like the night time during days here, great atmosphere. We´ve come across a few players, some fresh spawns seemingly afraid of us but once you show that you are friendly most people have been real nice, friendly and mature making it a real joy to set out on missions together. I think we spent 5 hours getting an ariplane flight ready yesterday only to have it crash into a tree on takeoff :) As I mentioned in the other thread you seem to have some kind of vehicle spawn bug though where the vehicles dupe into eachother and most of the time are unusable because they get destroyed upon starting them. -
I figured as much actually, thats why I chose the server but as I had not tried any other server I was not sure if it was server side option or not. By the way, awsome server, if you need any help keeping it online(financially or any other) please send me a message, would love to see it up for as long as possible! Good Hardcore is hard to come by. Though you seem to have a vehicle spawn bug where two of the same vehicle spawn on the same spot, every vehicle I came across last night were dupes inside one another, if it´s due to the 1.8 patch or any other reason.

I don´t know if it´s server related but according to DayZ Commander the server I´m playing on is Hive connected, still, I do not get a spawn selection screen, nor do I get to choose my gender and I can´t for the love of my life figure out how to open the Journal. US 3279.

You might want to take a look at the siphoning fuel function, it is currently possible to siphon unlimited ( I did like 300L+ ) from regular bicykles, this makes them a portable fuel spot which one can bring to his camp or wherever making refueling helis and such alot less risky.

Those were the days, it was so satisfactory when you actually managed to sneak trough a dark Cherno and slowly loot all the buildings, coming out with, if you were lucky even a makarov with one or two mags, a winchester with slugs was like hitting the jackpot! Hell even waterbottles were a good prize! Now there´s soda everywhere... I´d be more than happy setting up hardcore servers, full expenses on me if only there were some people to play with, unfortunately empty server is not as much fun and even if one mods the the loot for more scarce ammo, the zombies alone are not a factor to be afraid of but what made the original so great were all the people looking for that one gun in town and they were willing to go trough hell to get it. -

There are not many of those vanilla servers to be honest. I tried hosting a hardcore server for a month or so, reduced ammo spawns, removed high end military loot etc aswell as some nifty graphical changes but in a months time I had about 5 unique players. People don´t want the hardcore anymore, they want the easy run and gun with a little bit of looting at the beginning, it´s sad really and I hope that SA will once more give birth to all those feelings of unsafety, fear and real care to every step you take. -

Actually Project Realty mod for Battlefield 2 has locked grass statics rendering at max distance for everyone, meaning you can hide without fear of sticking out, if they can do it in a mod for BF2 im sure it's possible in the SA, question is, how many potential customers do they wish to let out because of the higher computer specs needed. The BF2 mod lost about 5% of it's players in the patch that implemented that change. -

Take a look at Arma 3 alpha and you can see what to expect somewhat in terms of vehicle physics etc. I for one think that the environment is equally important as the rest, with the new locked graphics it will be important to have a good level of detail as a base, -
A little manipulation in the @bliss_hive and that's what you get, could change any of your stats on a private server.

It's been somewhat "comfirmed" by Rocket that he wants us to load individual bullets into magazine clips and care for those clips as they might cause weapon missfire if they are not in good shape.

Agreed, I never did understand the theory behind the running zombies in DayZ, no matter what kind of infection it may be, flesh and muscle decay would not allow a "zombie" to run the way they do in DayZ.

Tips for a new DayZ Player?

Do a few runs into towns, get a hang of how you can loose zombies easiest, get faster in your loot handling etc. You will die a few times but once you have it set you can do really fast runs into towns with less risc of being spotted and killed by bandits. Leaving the south coast is also a good tip but if you want any high level gear early it's either the balota military fields, Cherno or Elektro, unless you are lucky with some tents along your way north. -

Funny thing about that, tonight me and my friends fixed up a truck, the VS3 or something like that. Went on to hide and save it a couple of minutes before the server restarted, once we were back in it was now a bus.
