Most of the suggestions for reducing KoS
SteveLord replied to Antjenks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dayz is not an MMO. Not even close. That is a totally separate genre designed around offering and rewarding for the completion of goals/quests. -
Bandit code and WTF is KoS meaning?
SteveLord replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The only "code" is how you choose to conduct your own self when playing the game. Other players should respect that, but they don't and bitch about every person that kills them who they didn't see first or were unfortunate to get caught by. I continue to laugh at how this community justifies PVP, but ONLY if you follow certain rules. Don't follow them and you're scum who will trigger the butthurt victim to rage on the forums about it. Next we'll need to implement a feature where you have to initiate a request to engage in battle with someone and then have it accepted by them to proceed. -
Donating is ruining this game faster than the hackers
SteveLord replied to BerkshireHunt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why? It is their server that they pay for. To some extent, those costs go into the server hosting costs itself. What's next? Reserved slots? An even older tradition in server hosting. I agree with you that it is lame. But you're making it seem like this is the next get rich quick scheme that is somehow plaguing the game, when it isn't. The best solution IS to find another server. There are ~2000 for vanilla DayZ alone. Maybe for SA, there will be "official" types of servers that allow little to no modification. But for now I would say the community is enjoying that freedom. Even if it has a few consequences. -
Most of the suggestions for reducing KoS
SteveLord replied to Antjenks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Adding "skills" creates another avenue for bugs and exploits. And it wouldn't change behavior at all. Majority of players would still trust whoever is on VOIP with them, which is the right thing to do. Next you'll be wanting a LFG system similar to what MMOs have. -
Donating is ruining this game faster than the hackers
SteveLord replied to BerkshireHunt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Majority of the servers I have seen offer things that you could likely find within the first hour of playing anyway. Pistol, slightly larger packback, crossbow, extra bandages, morphine, etc. And maybe a special skin. The only one I can think of that offered high level weapons came with a considerable cost. Like $50+ to get them, so they weren't popular anyway. And this was back when weapons were a lot easier to find and every other person had a DMR or .50cal anyway. -
Taking in questions for Rocket and Dayz Standalone at Gamescom
SteveLord replied to radarhead's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Those servers that are being paid for by people other than you would prefer to have players in them despite the demands of realism elitists. Most of those players don't enjoy playing inside a cardboard box. Day/night is a different topic than weather anyway. -

Suicide in DayZ and why it's important

^ Because in BF3, you can die 37 times in the same amount of time it takes to die once in DayZ and get back to the place where you died. :P -
Berezino: The Best City in all of Chernarus?
SteveLord replied to TheRaptorFence's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've found M14s/DMRs in the tents before. That's what keeps me coming back. I've loot cycled by myself for a good 20-40 minutes undisturbed more than once. -
Cant understand KOS moaners :s
SteveLord replied to jaytmuk (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I did read it. Those servers won't be successful at all and the hosts aren't going to pay to keep them running when 0-4 people play on them. -

Nobody is going to play a game that penalizes you like that. -

My favorite town for all reasons mentioned as well. -
Does DayZ's player killing simulate real life authenticly?

I enjoy it. BECAUSE ITS A FRICKIN GAME! -

Nobody is going to play any game that dishes out suspensions as part of the gameplay. -

Indeed. If you run into a town shooting your pistol and act like you have nothing to lose, then don't bitch as if it were the opposite because someone shot you. -

SteveLord replied to jaytmuk (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think I have figured out most posts (or comments in game) of crybabies/ragers who get killed. They all basically boil down to these. "Anyone who KOS is obviously a COD kiddy!" (Because shooting someone is somehow limited to those games only?) "Ha! Your aim sucks it took you X amount of shots to kill me!" (Typical emotional reaction to dying. Produces same result whether it's 1 shot or 10. You're still dead.) "You're not a bandit! Bandits rob, not murder! Robbing is more pro!" (Dying and respawning for once without having to comment is more Pro." "But I was friendly!" (Likely because he was poorly equipped or needs a ride. Can't remember last time I saw a self-proclaimed friendly that had decent gear.) -

To Everyone Complaining About 1.7.7
SteveLord replied to NovaDose's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ah, another person trying to break down Bandits by justifying them ONLY if they give the victim a chance to comply. Let me tell you there is practically no point in being this type of player. Primarily because you highly superior "survivor type" players combat log at the first opportunity. It's also more time consuming to get you to comply with everything. I would rather kill you and move on before you tell your buddies on VOIP to come save your sorry ass. Regardless, choosing to murder you outright is no less righteous than you trying to avoid other players all together and live off the land. The game allows both. Just because one outnumbers the other sometimes, doesn't make it wrong. You're just butthurt when you're on the receiving end, like everyone else that tries to do this break down of bandits. -

Another thread that starts with "this isn't COD." Yup. Highly original. -
What you guys think about the new update?
SteveLord replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, obviously he should make it so they knock you down even more. Maybe even make it so there's a chance your game will become minimized when hit. Because you know...that is manly and shit according to this forum. -
Entertainment at other people's expense is still entertainment.

You wouldn't just lose the hand clean. That's the point.
-
/realism card - The trauma as a result of the energy a .50 cal round carries will pretty much take you out wherever you are hit. It's not like you get hit in the hand, you lose the hand, that's it. If you somehow survive being hit, you would likely die soon after. For gameplay purposes, perhaps something similar to what you're suggesting should apply. Requiring a buddy to patch them up rather quickly. But then again, it gives the victim enough time to combat log! <_<

OP is so raged he has to make 3 posts in a row within a span of 7 minutes instead of just editing the first one. Clearly credible and not just a rambling fool.
