I was just about to open a thread QQ'ing about this... I hope it's just a bug/glitch and it will be back after the next restart... Dying due to my own failure is just fine... but losing all my hard earned stuff i saved on purpose just because of a fucking bug sucks balls...

I'm not sure where to post this but i hope it's fine in here as i already saw some "experience" topics in here. If not, move it. :) Skip this if you don't want to read the boring story of how i got into DayZ.^^ I came along DayZ watching some random youtube videos and thought this could be a nice game to check out. Luckly Steam had a 50% discount on Arma 2 the day i checked. While installing and setting up DayZ i watched more videos, especially guides and tutorials, and got even more excited to play it. Finally everything was patched and ready2go. I searched for a server with not so many people online to be sure i'm not getting raped by bandits as soon as i visit a town. I didn't know about the patch that removed the makarov and stuff from starter gear. I was quite confused as i logged in the first time. Skip this if you don't want to read my boring first day experience either. :P I spawned at "Three Valleys" near Solnichy. I first encounterd Zeds at "Tulga". I died due to noobish sneaking skills *sigh*. Second time i spawned right next to Elektro. I grabbed some gear at the docks using them as safe zone cause zeds do not attack at docks. I made my way to the Hospital roof(didnt know how to break the glass back then) and also grabbed gear at the office, supermarket and finally the firestation without encountering a single player. Having an ALICE backpack, an AKM and some other nice gear for beginners i headed outside and tried to sneak into the hills/forest. Suddenly some Zeds aggro and i had to shot them. When i was looting the dead Zeds i was shot by a player. *sigh* After some "learn2play" trys i finally got into playing more seriously. I had an M1911 with 7 mags and an AKM with 2 mags from looting Elektro. Then i logged out at the hospital roof once. When i got back in i saw a player at the office roof sneaking and looting. I was not sure if i should wait for him to leave or just shot him. I decided to shot as he was climbing up the ladder. I sneaked into the office and found his body. Then... bam... my personal jackpot... he had almost all Tools, an ALICE backpack AND a Camping Tent! I was like fuck yea, althought i felt sorry for the guy loosing this stuff. I was a bit in panic that someone could just kill me right now and run into the forest. I checked the player list and saw that the guy i killed wasn't online anymore. Rage quit i guess. So, right now at the end of my first day i'm deep into the forest having almost all necessary gear + a tent to store my goods. As soon as the sun raise i will raid elektro and cherno for more gear and store them in my tent, which hopefully will not be found by anyone.^^ This game is even harder than i expected, maybe due to it being alpha and pretty buggy, but i like the challenge and the ambient. I played L4D and L4D2 but its nothing compareable to this. I love it! Just told some friends about it, hopefully getting them to join me, since it's really lame playing solo and i can't be arsed to join a clan. English is not my native language so i would have to join a german clan but i haven't seen any yet.

From what i saw i guess tents used to have 50 slots. Just like the #2 post says. 1 Weapon = 10 slots 1 backpack = 10 slots So you could actually store 2 weapons 1 backpack and 20 "1slot" items like soda, beans etc. Edit. DayZDB says

Myself as a new player i can really suggest you guys to stay patient. SNEAK into a city/village and loot the open buildings. By sneaking i mean crouch and prone, NEVER, never ever sprint! except in the deep forests! If a Zed aggro you near the coast, try to find a dock(shipyard) and they will stop cause they seem to be unable to access these objects. Another way to lose aggro is running around objects, esspeciall 2 sides buildings or fir trees. If Zeds lose Line of sight they stop chasing. I strongly recommend you guys to get on TS with expecrienced people or at least watch youtube videos. There are some really nice guides.

Thanks for the replys. :) Well, i'm not going to be a badass bandit, just trying out everything, and this includes pvp. I just encounterd another player in elektro. I heard some weird noised near the supermarket. As i came closer i was sure these noises are coming from a player who's char is coughing. Not sure why, maybe some medical shit. As i came in from the front door as i saw him going to the backrooms. I wasn't going to kill him, although i could easy sneak up on him. I camped out in the front room with my heart beating and my hands shaking.^^ After some time the coughs stopped and i was going to checked the backrooms(was camping there like 10 mins). He was gone and didn't even picked up all the sweet gear. Win-Win situation. Both alive and i got one more survival experience. PATIENCE to avoid conflicts. ^^ I guess i'll move to the north as soon as my friends start or i find a german group to play with.
