Incentivizing Teamwork opposed to Punishing Murder
Dinnj replied to Friend-or-Pho's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No Yes please Unnecessary, players should make the precautions themselves. -
It's been suggested because players that get frustrated at something they don't personally like decide to make threads that propagate an idea that seeks to; simplify the game, add more unrealistic elements than we already have, and to make life easier for casual players. People that have contempt for something are more likely to make threads than people who don't. Suggestion forums are always filled with people who want something to (Oh shit) change, that usually dislike the current situation. Surprised? 100 people coming up with a shit idea is less valuable than 1 coming up with a great one. There will be ways of encouraging more player friendly interaction, but punishing people for play styles artificially is not it. Spend the time coming up with something that adds content rather than something that reduces from it.

This exact idea has been suggested dozens of times. If you want people to be constructive use the search function.

It would be a while and should be a while, but that is not to say that it is impossible or that it would not be useful. Once I sprinted for like 30 minutes to get water from the coast a few weeks ago when it was downpouring heavily.

More Clothing and a way to differentiate Bandits
Dinnj replied to r3volution (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The choice to shoot on sight is definitely better, but it's not the main goal of players. The reasons they shoot on sight are still more complex than "HE'S A BANDIT!", it's because they are uncertain of trust rather than being spoonfed whether or not to trust people. The only limiting factor of player interaction at the moment is how people play. You will die more often, but you CAN achieve player interaction. Hostile player interaction that doesn't lead to deaths is also very easy if you're in a group and you bother to try it. Hold people up on roads, most aren't stupid enough to take on a really well equipped group. I'm just missing the point, because I experience enough player interaction. When you approach others properly in a non-threatening way and you don't take them by surprise they rarely shoot you unless you're walking around with a DMR. Death matchers are much rarer than most think. I'm all for making interacting with people more rewarding and interesting, but not by simplifying the mod, it's just too drastic and too hasty for an alpha suggestion. We have time to come up with something actually good. This suggestion is probably raised in two threads a day. If we just thought of a better alternative... that time would be better spent. -
Yeah, should definitely have some sort of effect on the thirst level at any rate. Was dying of thirst at one point in pouring rain, ahwell.

A mechanic to prevent DayZ turning into a massive DM
Dinnj replied to reuter's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Clearly I am eagerly awaiting your ideas to help me. You knew exactly what I meant. Let me reword it; "Prevent PvP". I don't know why you've numbered your responses like this' date=' I made two points so you could reply to them in a way that was coherent and made sense, instead you've opted for numbering random unrelated crap that makes it very difficult to have a structured discussion. I fucking hate how people are incapable of being concise. [b']Anyway: We've already seen it isn't up to the server owners. When UK11? time froze their server it got blacklisted. The reason this probably doesn't exist is because of the reasons I'd outlined in my previous post. I didn't know that rocket was trying to follow the example of companies like Blizzard. Wow' date=' no shit sherlock. The only limiting factor there is your play style. Cool, you must have been a great shot. Please, tell me where it is that players are making 1200m shots on players consistently. Because I think you're talking total bullshit. A few players once in a blue moon might have pulled it off, but this is not a regular occurrence. -
10/10 troll thread OP, would get mad again.

Dinnj replied to r3volution (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's not just about opinion - I'm sure you mean well -, because like I'd said last page that it is actively going to reduce the complexity of whether or not to trust people. Labeling people turns into colour-coordinated whack-a-mole. I'm sure it's not your intention, but these sorts of ideas are never justified and their posters never seem to be able to realise how much is could potentially damage the unsuspecting nature of the game. Simplification, most can agree, is not a great ideal. -
Creating Trade Outposts | No Zed/Loot Spawn after Lockdown
Dinnj replied to zak757's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If there were mechanisms to store items in these hubs, this would be a really great addition to gameplay. I am pretty sure this has been suggested a few times, but it's still a good idea despite that. +1 -
Many of these have already been discussed very extensively. Still, good ideas nonetheless. Agree with these apart from number 5. Banging that female survivor might be satisfying after killing a horde of zombies, too. Despite this; we have to draw a line under things that might be cool but serve no actual purpose at all, it's just game design efficiency.

Highguy, I don't know how you do it; but you convey your point of view with such sage clarity that is near an art form. Bravo. -
Make CZ rare as M24 //reduce probability of scoped weapons
Dinnj replied to giorgygr's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You say that as if it's a joke, but it isn't. This is why I'm so glad people like you aren't actually game developers. This is a natural gameplay style. You want to create an artificial change to intentionally boost this gameplay style instead: Poor fella makes his position known (NW airfield, Chern, Elektro? Don't know where else snipers tend to camp tbh) by running into a camped area. Poor fella stops to do something in the open and stands still, maybe to loot his poor beans. Poor fella gets shot and dies because everyone always hits you from extreme range. Poor fella quits Day Z because he concludes from this experience that "WELL IN THE REAL WORLD SCOPED RIFLES WOULD BE LESS COMMON." No. Changes shouldn't be made for "PVP BALANCE" this isn't world of warcraft. As a previous poster has suggested, you must be terribly unfamiliar with rural areas. Scoped rifles are far far more likely than un-scoped rifles, and rifles are not rare. -
It would make shooting people from far off a much harder decision. Definitely support this. +1

Bring back the old bandit skin (You ever watched a post-apoc movie?)
Dinnj replied to CrimsonBlade's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Additional skins is fine. Forcing player killers to have a unique skin is stupid, for reasons I have stated countless times. (Is is such a shame so many threads got deleted, so I would not be going through this all again.) I do not want any playstyle to be made more or less rewarding. Being a shoot on sight style bandit (Not one that intentionally tries to find people for their items, hell it's closer to a survivor,) is the most effective play style because of natural factors. Such as how people play the game, how people react to one another, playing like that isn't the best method because of getting an artificial cookie every time you shoot someone, it's just how the world of Day Z inherently works. People should play however they like, one play style will always be better than others, I'm just saying let that be dictated naturally and have the ability to evolve over time because of player decisions, not because of weird forced game mechanics. Yes. more group orientated tools for groups is great, but this thread is not about that, it is titled: "Bring back the old bandit skin (You ever watched a post-apoc movie?)" I'm all for that. Just not weird, unrealistic, (Yes, this is an unrealistic game, but it tries to be as much as possible,) artificial balancing mechanics. -

Fuck me, my browser crashed as I was about to post a long as hell reply. Apologies if this is brief but as quickly as I can so I don't forget my points: Yes we've been through that already. Thanks for making it utterly obvious that this entire paragraph was just total opinion and a rant about bandits because you "don't like them". This paragraph can be totally ignored. -

Dinnj replied to CrimsonBlade's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The first twenty or so threads were friendly discussions, now it's just regurgitated crap and should be treated as such. The OP isn't even capable of a higher level of reasoning than "The bandit skin is now harder to make for self-defenders, it is good see". I mean there's not even an attempt to respond to actual counterpoints, it's as if he's an automated answering machine. Come on. -
Bring back the old bandit skin (You ever watched a post-apoc movie?)
Dinnj replied to CrimsonBlade's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
As far as I know, this is the game that is closest to a zombie apocalypse simulator that I've personally played. So far it looks like it's working out quite well. Like you said though, realism isn't even an argument, right? Besides the peculiarity of arguing with yourself. My, posting would be so simple if all I did was go into a thread and say: "You guys are against this, don't be silly!" Pick a shit argument and say "THIS IS WHAT YOU GUYS ARE SAYING" And then proceed to argue with myself as if that gives credence to my point of view. Madness. -

If you had read my post at all you would realise I was trying to make the same point. Realism discussion is pointless but that was the only response I was given to the points I made on the last page. You take irony to a new level. :D -
Bring back the old bandit skin (You ever watched a post-apoc movie?)
Dinnj replied to CrimsonBlade's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No. Because when you murder someone they cannot give you a physical description of the person who attacked them. Because when you shoot at someone they usually aren't busy trying to remember your facial features/height/built. A gunfight is incredibly disorientating. If you think bandits might want to conceal their faces for realism, then add it as an optional mechanic. Do you think bandits would wear this mask all the time because they are magically forced to? Even when trying to act friendly? Look at hostage situations. Many times the criminals don't bother wearing masks, because they are to dispose of the hostages as part of the plan. People only wear masks when they intend on letting their quarry live. -
I, personally, would really love to be able to roam around as an intelligent zombie. The only problem may be that they would be able to intentionally leave their friends unharmed, and just act as a bandit in a group with uninfected players. It could get immersion breaking to be honest.

Dinnj replied to CrimsonBlade's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Did you know that people who reply to a thread asking for the bandit skin back are an entirely accurate representation of the overall player base as a whole? I learn something new every day! Most people have probably gotten utterly sick of having to say how much they hate this idea. It's been regurgitated so much recently, thankfully those threads were all lost due to the site problems.
