Im looking to start a small group of 5 to 10 people to play on a dayz epoch server. Im 30yo and have 4 years experience in arma 2 playing the various mods. Ive been in and run various different groups for various different games including Dayz in the last 15 years. The group likely wouldnt have any formal structure beyond when we get into some shit and need a shot caller, its all pretty flexible. Mostly here to play and have a good time. I tend towards neutral when playing but have some bandit tendencies. what im looking for: -18+ -not a complete dick (some dickdom is acceptable) -fairly regular player -Microphone -willing to use ts3 -some experience in Dayz If youre interested post a message her or PM on the forums and ill hit you back with some contact info

http://www.adcmaps.com/ The do it by region and than within those regions they break it down into multiple individual square maps that fit together much like the ones in dayz. They are one of the largest map providers in the United States and supply all kinds of maps not just road maps if your gonna try and make that point again. Man when you have 20 people, who know, telling you that you are wrong odds are that you are wrong. There should several different maps you have to collect but I agree you should be able to combine so that they only take up one inventory slot.

No they stopped releasing updates and are closing down development after that last update. No further game development now as it is believed to be perfect /sarcasm Check the announcements section under pending updates. They are still working out a lot of bugs and this is part of the process

I've seen topo survey maps that are divided like they are in dayz for hiking and just general survey for construction. I think you have unrealistic expectations of maps my friend. Google earth has spoiled many of us so don't feel bad
-
I've used many real maps. For the area of coverage and detail it should probably be more maps to be realistic. My only complaint is that you should be able to store them together to take up les space

Is the map and compass to clunky?
lukeandstuff replied to Serious Stan's topic in General Discussion
I've done a good bit of real world backpacking and navigation with map compass and topographic maps and let me assure it is far easier in dayz than in areal life. While real life renders farther you rarely get the fields of view or number of clear land marks on chernarus. Trust me as far as real life comparisons and immersion go dayz is taking it easy on you. As fair as individual maps go... In truth to get the kind of detail you can from only the maps in dayz you would need about 10 maps. You can zoom in and out for different levels of detail and gives you a huge field of view. Again dayz is taking it easier on us here. That said I wouldn't mind being able to cut and tape them together for easy storage. As fair as maps go they don't take up a ton of room in your pack. Also no I don't use the map in game but I don't use one to get around Baltimore either since I've learned my way around -
its not a bad idea if limited to what you said, having two separate characters. Problem is that most people will use the second character as a back up keeping them in the same area and logging in with the second if the first one dies to try and get vengeance and their gear back. playing on different private hives will allow you to do exactly what your saying once they come out

I think the main reason is that to report the bug on a forum like this is stupid. Developers cant follow it and be effective. That is why they use the Bug reporting software you can see pinned at the top of this section of the forum. Where bugs can be much more easily tracked and assessed based on improtance to development and community. Ive read through several of those and most the ones that seem sincere and helpful have been upvoted and most the others get downvoted very fast. The people who post bugs on here tend to be sensational about how its game breaking and needs to be fixed. This isnt doing anything but clogging up the forums. If youre looking for a solution to your problem i could understand but most the post i have seen ahve not been in that line. Mostly just people crying about how could this not be fixed yet and the like.

Combat logging and server farming are definitely problems that should be address before beta release (which is far far down the line). THis is also something that can be tacked on such as log out delay timers and cool down timers between servers. For now the focus seems to be (and rightly so) server performance/security and core gameplay mechanics such as energy levels (eating, drinking, blood) or player world interactions. This has been a on going issue since the release of the mod and im sure will be addressed once the foundation of the game is solidified.

Me and a few friends have been playing Dayz since the release of the mod and as a few people have fallen away over time I was hoping to bring in some new blood with the standalone. Currently have 5 people who play the standalone in the group and was hoping to get as many as 10. I run a Team Speak server for communication and for right now we just play on what ever public server is avaliable. No group or clan structure other than being adults, if not sometimes extremely immature and stupid adults. If youre interested feel free to add me on steam "Lukeandstuff" or message me here. If you dont speak decent english, have a mic or are not old enough to drive, thank you for your interest but we are currently at full membership at this time.

Opening statement: i prefer a even mix of both night and day. I managed to get a hour of day light on a server last night and it was gorgous. Not to mention the added tension of seeing your prey at a distance and tracking them.... fun stuff. Night time can be super intense and difficult... also fun stuff for me. For those saying that 24/7 defeats the purpose of the game. realize that every one is not you and wants what you want. Some people have different anxiety levels and the fear and tension you get by playing at night they get simply playing in daytime. Not every one has the base line ability you do and cant cope with night time play as well. Also this game has one hell of a learning curve and some people might want to ease into it a little, not as extreme or (in my opinion) fun but perfectly reasonable. 24/7 daytime has its place in the same way 24/7 night would or a even mix of day and night as nature intended. Id say mix the servers up a bit for day/night (as vast majority appear night right now) and once the game gets further down the road readdress this issue with more server options such as shortened day night cycles or 24/7 options

Current group of 3 active players looking to expand and take a more aggressive stance on the private hive server we play on. This includes stuff like setting up ambushes, holding high value resource points, and getting into large scale firefights. We already have several vehicles and gun caches so getting you setup is not a problem. Were looking for people who are over 18 (this is required), have a Mic and capable of basic survival in dayz. We communicate through steam and Teamspeak so both of those are required as well. If your interested simply PM me here or add me on steam at lukeandstuff

1: server us 29 2: 8/19/12 12:00pm east coast time (-4 gmt) 3: cords 003 - 067 saw a few players in it but do dint get any names, I Personally saw 30 portable generators, 20 something soldiers cloths and other things that were spawned In but I don't know how to describe. Also several rotb grenades. Looked like 20+ tents and several vehicles and the middle of some trees. Cords fairly accurate as I had gps After i found the camp I was teleported to coast with the rest of the server and then teleported into the sky Friend confirmed it was still there today and has flattened tents but will of course pop back up at next restart. Unsure what you can do about it but felt it was best to report it

Ok dev how about you calm down. The name calling and other stuff isnt really helpful. I didn't think the few people who might go get hacked items would be near as important as bringing it to devs attention. Didn't go to sever admin as I had doubts of something like that existing that with out admin being absent or involved. Not saying it isn't possible he wasn't involved just seemed best to go to devs first and let them decide to what to do. I doubt there was a black Friday rush to get hacked items and anyone who did would have found flattened tents for the first few hours, maybe as many as 24 depending on the next reset. Plenty of time for devs to act and if they didn't care enough to why should you?

Why you shouldn't buy a SERVER
lukeandstuff replied to splatterdk's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
ok i think people need to get a little perspective on the matter Hackers currently seem to be one of the largest problems with this mod. The first line of defense against this has always been server admin. Taking away their ability to decide when to kick and ban cripples this and leads to far worse gameplay then any admin abuse can supply. Best case senerio: Sever admin buys server and tries to provide a safe healthy server. Hackers are kicked but occasionally mistakes are made and non hackers kicked/banned as well. Now non hackers have to *gasp* play on a different sever! with all their stuff... since its HIVE people. Lose you camp? get a friend to go get your stuff. Crisis over. Worst case senerio: Admin is abusive of his power. He resests servers, kicks players who kill him and bans people for little or no reason. Now you have to *GASP* play on a different server! I really dont see how the risk isnt outweighing the benefit. With all the hacks and duping and other cheats admin abuse is kind of the least of the worries. As for kicking for clan mates.... the dude pays a 100 dollars a month to run the server you play on for free. That should get him cut in line privilages. Its a simple and reasonable arguement. Now you have to take a few minutes to log back in or simply go play on a different server. Was your gameplay interupted? well go pay 50 - 200 dollars a month and not have to worry about it like he did or find a server with a no kick for clan policy (which mine would be by the way if i felt owning a server in this mod was worth it). I dont understand how downloading a alpha mod for free gets you privilege and entitlement... this guy on the other hand is paying money out of his pocket, managing a server and supporting the community. Again... get perspective For the record im addicted to this mod and love most of the devs ideas and approach but i really disagree with their admin policy and wont buy a server till its changed -
Vehicles that disappear and reappear with server resets
lukeandstuff posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Which version of the game did you purchase? STEAM or RETAIL or MIXED: -Steam *Are you running an Arma 2 OA beta patch? If so what version?: -Yes, 9444, and playing on Atlanta 17 which runs 1.7.1.5 *Which method are you using to launch the game? I.E Sixupdater/steam/batch file: Batch file *What is the Error/Problem you're having? Please provide screenshots if possible: Recently found a motorcycle and me and my friends have been using it to get around. Hide it in one spot by a tree, out of the way, and not between two resource points. After some sleep we get up check its there. YAY! Tires and engine are yellow yellow so i get some more repair it up to green across the board, save it, go to work in RL. Yes im very sure i saved it. Twice. get home from work and its gone. Assumed stolen. Sadness follows. Server resets and on a whim i check for the last spot i saw it and its back. but not only back but back and in its earlier unrepaired state. ok odd so i take it for a spin bring it back save it, twice, log out and its gone again when i get home from work. Its a odd problem. Im not sure what to make of it. Anything i might be doing wrong? Also there was a bicycle my friend has that was disappearing and reappearing at the same time with no of us touching it. -
what version is this for?
