Food, Hunger, and hunting ... oh my!

I agree with this recommendation. In the real world... Starvation takes quite a while to occur. Without water you can die within days and suffer many effects prior to death. I understand that they do need a mechanism within the game to compel players to gather food. I also understand that blood loss is the only current method of determining your overall health. So I see why you "loose blood" from not eating over a long period of time. The game currently will allow a player who has not eaten (and is flashing red) to go into black and white, start passing out after only about 45minutes of game time. (tracking from 12000 blood down to about 2000 blood) This time should be extended. I once had plenty of water (8 canteens filled) and 4 uncooked meat in my bag. I had matches but could not find a suitable place to light a fire (too hilly or objects near where it was flat) until I started going into black and white, when I finally found a spot to place my fire, I could not find it in the grass due to my poor vision (and its placement several meters away) I logged out, starving to death with food in my possession that I could not use. If I had another hour or so, I could have probably gotten it to work. As far as more animals on the map. I could not agree more. I walked from the coast to the northern (Vybor) airfield, and came across 0 animals in the fields, mountains, woods, etc... I had binoculars and have hunted in real life for the past 35 years, I could not find anything to kill and eat. I understand that there are not a lot of them so that they do not lag the servers, however without more of them, we are mostly confined to the shores for the "bean wars"

Direct Communication not working at all...

On server EU3 yesterday, same issue. Global chat, text/Voip worked, Side chat, text/voip worked, DIRECT CHAT, text/voip neither worked. Other players near me could not see what I was typing in Direct chat, even if they were standing next to me. We could not hear each other talking over VOIP in Direct, although our lips were moving. Servers have a blanket enable/disable switch for VOIP on their servers, however I don't believe they have individual channel control. (I could be wrong) If I were to guess, I would say that BIS numbered the different channels and those numbers got muddled in the coding of the DayZ map somehow when the Dev's attempted to mute the Global/Side channels. -----EDIT------- Looking at the bug report for DevHaven above (thanks for the link) it appears that a temporary fix for people to use Direct text/VOIP is to NOT use other channels to talk or type in. As using any other channel will break your Direct text/VOIP ability. I will give that a try and see if that indeed works.

    DayZ Update 1.5

@Redrick, Which server were you on at the time. Can you confirm this happening (no voice, no text) on other servers. You should probably use the BUG REPORT section, rather than the 1.5 release thread since that is what the Bug Report section is for and there are not any bug reports for your problem yet. --- Regarding the 1.5 patch: I can't wait to give it a try. It sounds like good stuff. Thanks Dev's

    ACRE Support

Yes to ACRE if possible. If you join a server, you connect to their Teamspeak. We use ACRE on our ArmA2 servers all the time, and if the game detects you have joined with ACRE connected, and it detects you on our Teamspeak server, it will automatically move you into the correct channel on Teamspeak for whichever of our servers you have connected to. Only people who are in game and have ACRE connected can join those channels, so even without a radio in your inventory, your local (directional) voice is enabled. If you have a radio, you can transmit to others on their frequency. We also have in game VOIP disabled, so people don't spam global with "uh.. where are you guys?" or their singing.. or whatever. I love ACRE.
