I love 3rd person for that exact reason yet I would still be happy if it was removed as I understand it is a form of cheating in a game like this. The amount of times 3rd person has saved my life is unreal. But I believe that in SA, when in person mode, force 1st person but once in a vehicle, it can be switched. The reason being a buddy had an epileptic fit when riding the bicycle over grass on a 1st person-forced server. (No idea how he did. I thought you only trigger those by stuff flashing at you) People say 1st person makes people get headaches and such but thats only because they haven't configured their FOV settings correctly

Not true. I ran into a few posts on Hackforums that offer alot of these "Spawning Services" but they charge you real cash for the service and probably chuck in a free server-wide Oppa Gangnam Style for free for the lulz. The reason they do it? Because they have access to Key Stealers and can refresh to someone else's legit ARMA key in a heartbeat if they get banned. -
Not my DayZ video but its absolutely hilarious. I was in stitches the whole way through and the end nearly killed me. For those that do not know what he does, he basically sits in the trunk of a car and waits for people to take the vehicle and then he trolls them. At least someone during the apocalypse has a sense of humour :D

Never thought of a sleep mechanic. That could be a good feature. Say have it cure you of cold/illness and refresh your health to maximum for when you log in but you have to sleep for 5-7 hours. I would say sleep for 8-10 like I do but I know sure as hell that I would not be sleeping well in a zombie apocalypse unless I had a session with that blonde from Big Bang Theory the night before.

I don't have an amazing PC and I get around 60 in cherno on a busy day. I've just optimized my PC for maximum potential. I use Black Vipers service tweaks, Tune-Up Utilities Turbo mode and Razer GameBooster (formerly IObit GameBooster) and make sure nothing else is running that I don't need. -

I played DayZ+ a little and I like it. Sure the zombies hit like Mike Tyson, it just means I stay the hell away from them. The thing I didn't like was that I was crawling through a town in long grass and I aggro'd a zed from so far away it was stupid. Between me and "Super-Zed" was a house (corner), a road, another house, about 40 foot of field and a fence and the git still saw me. Granted I was in his line-or-sight but hell... I woulda thought rotting eyeballs couldn't see that far -

You should do a poll to make it easier for the devs to figure out if its a good idea. Personally I do agree but I also disagree. I agree with having only 1st person when walking/running/hunting but when in a vehicle, it can be changed to 3rd person -

That I do agree with but there is one issue. Even if you do make it so that those settings are server-side, its not going to stop people using the nVidia control center to change it out of game

That is the FOV settings. You can use BF3 FOV changer to fix this and make it less sickening. -

Good point It allows your own head to control the head movements of your ARMA II character through infra-red sensors. It makes it alot easier to PVP apparently and increases your awareness. The DayZ mod currently has support for this and its free alternative "Free-track". I'm praying they give it to standalone too as I will be buying one and don't want it to be an item that's only getting a months usage :D -
Awesome idea but you should be allowed to use your weapon. Screw holding it to my face, I would MacGuyver it and tie it round my head like a bandit skin.

I think that having the ability to have a trained Hawk or another similar bird would be a great addition. A bird that you could send out to scout for you, bring you a particular item and even use to create a diversion to throw Zeds and players off your trail. Something like this would be rare and to get one, you would have to find one, trap it and spend some time training it for what you need. If your character dies, your bird goes back to living in the wild fending for itself until another person finds it. Birds can also be killed and caught by other players if you didn't train it not to approach the candy van and talk to strangers... lol

No don't remove it. What you need to do is remove those bodies that cause the artifacting glitches in Cherno, NWAF, Balota, Stary, etc... Basically, remove the bodies from all the damn PvP hotspots :D Not sure if its been posted here but the Tunngle Forums have a fix. Problem is that the occasional server will notice that the bodies have been replaced in the PBO and kick you from the server. But I would rather be kicked from the server every 10 minutes than to deal with those fun-destroying artifacts -
I did post this on the Update Patch thread but believe it belongs here. I am constantly seeing comments regarding the ALT+F4 problem. The way I see it, there is a simple way to fix it. I'm not sure how other MMO's do this but Eve-Online gets round this with an "Aggression Timer". When you are being aggressed by the NPC's, you can log out but if a player takes a shot at you, you either sit there if scrambled or you get off-grid and sit there for the 15 minute aggression timer giving players time to scan out your location and kill you. I would suggest DayZ goes along the same principal. If a player fires a weapon in your vicinity and you ALT+F4 or abort, you should either sit in that EXACT same spot for 30 seconds or your character disappears but sits in a Zed-free area for roughly 15 minutes within say 0.5 km from your log-off spot. If the ALT+F4'er logs back in, He goes back to the original place he logged out at making it easy for you to keep a guy there watching while you scout out his log-off location.

I haven't used this mod but my friend has told me so much about it. I totally agree with the OP. Maybe not have all of those things that were listed but definitely Back Blasts, Combat Deafness, Gas (tear gas or mustard gas or a gas that is designed to repel Zeds), Gas Masks, Weapon Overheating, Weapon Cleaning, Stamina and Wind Deflection. Yes this might be a bit OTT for what Rocket had in mind but I think the game would be better if it had a bit more realism in it.

I haven't seen that show but I know what you are on about. The way Zombies are depicted throughout countless films/TV Shows, they are brain-dead with only one interest... chewing on YOU. They shouldn't really run and they definitely shouldn't be thinking "Oh... he's there so I am going to be tactical about this and zig-zag towards him to eat him and flank him from the left so he can't shoot me" They should just walk towards your direction in a direct line.
