I think it would be an awesome idea. I commented on the "Take on Heli" thread and was all for that too. Its what Rocket wants (according Matt Lightfoots interview with RhinoCRUNCH). He wants DayZ to be the sort of game where if you are good at something in real life, you would be good in game and if you were rubbish in RL, likewise in the game. ie. hacking, bypassing security systems. By the sounds of it, Rocket wants to make a criminal training simulator... lol

Its not the game. You either caught chlamydia again or your server admin has edited files and tweaked with stuffs. Or manipulated the mySQL database and reverted you back to your old state.

Pfft!! Blasphemer! lolol. May you let us shoot, axe and blow up your guilty soul, squeeze out the remainder of that WarZ toxin and convert you to the dark side. Happy hunting

CAN'T GET MY GUID !!!!!HELP!!!!!
chris_heyward replied to cryptodux's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Never seen that before. When you connect to a server, it should say something like "Updating BE Client... blah blah blah" Straight after that it should link your GUID, failing that, check a server log if you have access to it or find an admin thats helpful and can link it to you. It will be in his mySQL database for the server. Hope this helps. ps. I envy you getting on his server. I won't be able to play until I can get a legit copy. Oh well... while you are playing with RhinoCRUNCH, I get my company shared by Sergio, our Russian hacker. The only entertainment I get from him is the odd Oppa Gangnam Style and getting teleported. -
You can only be online with one key at a time. You can both play DayZ together just not legally. Either buy a new key or use your head and find another way around it :)

Can anyone tell me why this server is down? 66.225.195.170:2302
chris_heyward replied to TheSamuraiMifune's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
There are loads of reasons it could be down: Owner couldn't pay server bill Sick of hackers and quit Weren't getting enough players online Hardware issues Got drunk and tripped over the power cable (happened in EvE Online and entire cluster died for 4 hours) The list goes on and on dude. Your best bet is to play on another. Preferably one of the higher ranked ones as they won't be going down anytime soon -
DayZ Lagg, Fps-problem all i have tried!
chris_heyward replied to Silvestar's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
V-sync should be off as this can rape a card once the action starts going. Your issues may not be with the game. I have helped countless people set up their PC for gaming and the majority that have issues, are having them because they have never once cleaned their system of all the crap or optimised it for gaming. Check you have an anti-virus, if not, get AVG Free as this is one of the best (mcafee, avast and norton are the worst in my experience) Download and run MalwareBytes Download and run SpyBot Search and Destroy Download Ccleaner and do a Reg scan and Clean (remember to back up the registry entries it removes in case it removes something that makes your PC unstable) If you really want to, search Google for "Black Vipers Service Tweaks" and get the registry files. Double click on these after un-zip'ing. (Remember to download the "Safe AND Default ones. Safe tweaks it and Default puts it back the way it was before if something goes wrong). This disables all the unnecessary services that run in the background that you do not need running. Run a defrag (can take all night if your disc(s) is in a bad shape) In addition to this, download Razer's GameBooster (formely IObit GameBooster). This optimises you PC right before you run a game. Remember to tweak the settings before you boost. After this, there is nothing much left to do other than updating drivers (which GameBooster should point out if needed) These are the things I do and my PC runs DayZ on max setting (minus AA, PP and V-Sync) and minus your RAM, your PC is better than mine. I don't understand this Game :/
chris_heyward replied to brettuk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To make you better understand what to do in DayZ, go to the link the first guy provided: http://dayzdb.com/map#3.059.115 Notice that there are alot of different colours just dotted about, look to the right and you will see a legend and you can un-check and remove the junk you don't want. If you click on a colour, it will tell you what "can" spawn there. If you have 2 monitors, this is the best way to meta-game.. From the nav-bar up top, you can look up a database which tells you the specifics for all the weapons and equipment. Once you have familiarised yourself with this HUUUGE map, take a look at these guys YouTube channels. There are plenty more but these are the guys I love watching (manly because of the militaristic attitude and swift coordination): RhinoCRUNCH: http://youtube.com/u...H/videos?view=0 (more of a action comedy with these vids... lol. The best thing to do for you is to load all his vids from the link at the bottom of his page and find the "Survival Diaries episode 1". Once you have watched that series and understand the game a little more, watch the Bandit Diaries) DevilDogGamer: http://youtube.com/f...fFXWdo7RgEDtBcQ (Has more of a military attitude but understanding the tactics pays off) If you are into the more relaxed DayZ video's, look up FRANKIEonPCin1080p: http://youtube.com/u...p/videos?view=0 (all his video's have a link to all the others in the description so they are easy to navigate) -
Take On Helicopters (DayZ SA) flying adjustments!
chris_heyward replied to finkone's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I love it. Granted if this was implemented I would hate it as I don't really know how to fly a chopper in RL, I'd be better off with a plane as I have flown one. But still, this I believe is what rocket wanted. He wanted (according to Matt Lightfoot interview with RhinoCRUCH i think) for DayZ to become the sort of game where if you are good in RL at something, you would be good in the game i.e bypasing security systems, hacking etc. This would make the game a lot more interesting and I would love if this got included with the "good in RL, good in game stuff" -
Standalone/Mod suggestion list to spice things up a bit...
chris_heyward replied to chris_heyward's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Bump. Needs more feedback. -
Where is said patch notes for the next version?

There is a separate whitelist for each server. The server you are trying to connect to should provide a link in the kick message. If it didn't then bounce to another as its probably a friends/clan only server. We have all gotta do it dude

Help on Graphics Configuration
chris_heyward replied to Befeeter's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You should be able to play on high settings with a setup like that. That setup is a hell of alot better than mine and I can play on max settings minus the AA, PP and Vsync turned off and still get around 60 frames -
Or it could be that server. Try connecting to others

Will the method for setting up stand alone servers differ from the mod servers?
chris_heyward replied to rossasaur's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What he says ^^ An interview with Matt Lightfoot was posted yesterday with that question in. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/116479-interview-with-matthew-lightfoot/ -
Well he's not wrong. If the OP can't find the date, what makes him think we know. The only people that can tell him that are the devs and they are busy with SA and even if they did know, they wouldn't post it here. It would go in the "Announcements" section

short freezes with Arma II, Arma OA and DayZ
chris_heyward replied to ZemmerindeEmmer's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Also, running unnecessary programs and services causes lag. So can viruses, dying hardware, fragmented HDD's and an operating system that has been bombarded with updates for over a year -
kicked off by BattlEye: Script Restriction #54
chris_heyward replied to eiszombie's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Google translated it wrong. I'm sure its meant to be in Engrish -
It did for Splinter Cell. It broke the game that bad that I could play it one-handed and still have full control as that mechanic led to other mechanics that led to updates of that mechanic. Plus, these DayZ survivors are meant to be the odd military guy and the rest average people. If I wanted a game full of Third-Echelon ninja's, I'd just go play Splinter Cell instead

Then your friend is wrong regardless of how "techy" his household is. These stealers are binded to a file and then made FUD (Fully Undetectable). Granted these things can be detected over time but some go a long time without any Anti-Virus company picking it up. Over the past year, I have tinkered with these tools to examine and test how they work. One of the Crypters I have, I have had for a year yet only 1 out of 14 major AV Companies can detect its stub. These stealers are designed to do a smash-and-grab on your keys and leave in seconds by removing all traces of their existence trust me. Like the guy above said, your best bet is to contact Battleye and get them to reverse the block but it may take a while and can be tricky.

I would say no. you would have wrecks littered all over the place and that would impact gaming performance big time and if they dropped it down then you would have people camping those spots and insta-killing all the noobs
-
I forgot to add earlier that Kamenka is an awesome spawn point. Its the last place on the map people would look for a camp or tent. I have a tent roughly 200 meters away from the furthest spawn point on quite a few servers and it has never been found. Why you ask... because people never look in that direction. They either travel East to the cities or travel North along Deer-Stand road or rage quit and jump off the bridge...

This is DayZ. Does the name up top say "Mechanic that broke Splinter Cell Forum"?

The only way a key wouldn't work is if you, your brother or another person that used that PC had downloaded a file that had an ARMA 2 key stealer buried inside and that file was run. You wont be able to tell if its on your PC unless the hacker is stupid as it transmits the code, replaces his with a hacked one and then shuts down or deletes. There is however a very VERY slim possibility that your legit key popped up inside a keygen and that person decided to use hacks and therefor got the key/GUID banned. Oh and what the guy above said ^^

No. Spawn points vary around the coast. You may not like Kamenka but others who have base camps and supplies around there like it
